What wrong with this guy? I just witnessed him cutting up an already very small fish in two to go with my hand full of chips complimented with the brown water he poured over, the chips where hard, £5.50 terrible

Not even worth a star…. Served by a young girl with a horrendous attitude then got home and the food was nice but the portion size is shocking!

I love this chippy and I use it a lot however tonight, has completely put me off! Mixed meat and chips, got home and opened it up, 4 small pieces of chicken meat! If the owner spent more time focusing on the food he is serving rather than degrading the young staff that work there! Shouting at them, forcing them to do things! Honestly, the way he spoke to them tonight made me feel so angry! Absolutely disgusting behaviour!

Just had a mini fish special from here and it was terrible. First of all the fish batter had split at the ends so the inside of the fish was fried and had turned rock hard. Just a big lump of batter on the other end. It was also full of big bones, tried to eat half then threw it away. Also gave me gravy instead of curry. This place has really gone downhill over the years, sad really. Complete waste of money.

Skin on is not my choice but I can tolerate if it’s good however, BONES, no, no, no! If you choose to cut costs further by buying “bone in” instead of pin boned at least have the knowledge/skill to V cut & remove the bones! Won’t be back 😢

My friend and I decided to buy lunch here as we arrived in town to find Star Café closed. My lamb doner meat was the cheapest of the cheap and cut badly in chunks rather than thin strips. Horrible. The chips were warm not hot (the law says all hot food must be served at 63°C minimum) and not crispy at all. Horrible. My friend's fish was ok (extremely small) but the batter was soft and chewy and not crispy at all. It also wasn't properly cooked all the way through as there was still 1-2mm of raw batter around the fish. Horrible. I also had a pineapple fritter which was a little bit crispy but the thin layer of batter had broken which meant it was full of oil. Very poor, bordering on horrible. This is such a pity because it's a nice shop right in the middle of town and the service was nice and friendly. But the poor chap running the fryer needs more training. However I suspect he's the owner (oops!) and has probably chosen the wrong career. We won't be back.

We live in Eccleshall and have had food from here several times, trying each time to give it a real chance, sadly it's just plain terrible. Chicken kebabs are horrendous, I don't think the chicken is fully cooked and the pieces that are are like rubber, even the dog does want it. It's always cold and is just nasty. Mini fish is just batter, I ordered a spring roll and had to wait for one to be cooked and yet it was freezing cold in the middle, paid for a battered roe and that wasn't even in the bag but going by everything else I can't imagine I've missed much. Chips were a dark brown (over done) I mean come on if you can't cook chips then you shouldn't be running and fish and chip shop.

First and last time I'll eat anything from here. Ordered fish and chips to take out, looked appetising but when cut into fish was black, slimy and really pungent. Chips were mediocre and nothing to write home about

Absolutely disgusting. We stopped using as the food was awful. Decided to give it another try .... BAD mistake. We ordered a small FISH for our disabled child as he does not like meat, this turned out to be a battered SAUSAGE, covered in a massive amount of batter. The peas were not even tepid, had to be heated up as did the kebab meat, only the chips were okay, our other child's plain sausage was well below temperature. EHO need to be involved. This is actually dangerous practice. Spoke to the manager "The son" over the phone. He offered to refund the difference between the small fish we had ordered and the battered sausage we neither wanted or ordered. Why would I pay for a product not ordered? Indeed he will have it served cold on his counter tomorrow. He also requested that I drove 1 mile down the road to return said sausage, then a mile home with small fish. CLEARLY he doesn't understand the concept of a takeaway. I could have Cooked fish and chips, nicer, hotter and for a quarter of the price in the time: I had to cook anyway as one child had no protein and all bar the chips needed to be heated to be safe to eat. As a consequence the chips had to be kept warm. It's okay to make a mistake, but this is too many, the attitude was dreadful. Disgusting attitudes. The whole meal should have been refunded, as it was completely ruined and I ended up cooking anyway. We needn't have left home in the first place. If you make a mistake, be polite, be realistic and apologise. Bring your peas up to temperature prior to opening at 5pm, instead of chucking them into the bain Marie too cold; in order that they can be held for longer. Temperature probe your meat. Tap off the batter on you sausage ; instead of lazy frying... then you will know the difference between a fish and a sausage !!! BASIC It's a shame. I really hope someone takes over what could be a great chippy and does a decent job. Right now KEEP WELL AWAY.

OK so once was a great chippy but now it's just not good.thiught I would treat myself had kebab and chips 98% went into the bin was awful the meat if it was meat tastes like what I can only say is water like it had been boiled to death and then cut with an axe really over thick pieces chips were dry and hard sry but is the last time I will be wasting my money in there untill it gets taken over by someone who wants to deliver good standards of food

Lovely fish and Chips, Good Portion.

Not bad, the fish and chips, despite being fresh, we're very greasy. The beef burger was exceedingly dry and full of very hard lumps of fat.

As always, great food at a great price :)

The worst kebab Ive ever had. Chips are usually okay but sometimes hit and miss. Battered sausage sometime soggy. A good basic chippy if you are looking for reasonable fish and chips. By no means the best.

Normally the Eccleshall fish bar is great, unfortunately recent visits have been less than perfect. Just had chips that were swimming in fat and Luke warm fish

Great chippy been visiting for a long time.. very clean and portions good. The specials are great value for money. Sometimes gets busy but worth the wait.

The food here is simply GREAT. The cod is to die for. You may have to wait an extra few minute's but it is well worth it. Outstanding

Used to be really good, now the portion sizes are much smaller. I know times are tough but its about 50% less food for the same price.

Late quick grab of tea as we were passing through and very glad this isn't my normal chip shop. At least half the chips were inedible and were hard and very undercooked. Won't be going back.

This placed used to be run by a grey haired Gent. The food at the time was excellent. Last couple of times he hasn't been in there a thick set younger man(his son maybe?) Well if so he needs to have the train set taken back off him because it has gone downhill faster than Franz klammer ever could. We haven't ate Fish and chips for four and a half months but my other half ended up only eating half of his(something he NEVER does) ordered Mushy Peas got what looks like Marrowfat) Thick soggy batter on the (Bony) Fish and soggy chips. Come back Grey haired man otherwise we won't be.

Situated in the hight street in Eccleshall visited for the 1st time as just moved to the area , had a very nice meal.

Just brought 2 bags of chips and they were just about Luke warm to cold, would of been nice chips if we're hot. Small portions for the price, won't be eating there again :-(

I like it here, the chips are tasty and the staff are polite. The only thing I don't like, is that 50% of the time the cod is really dry. Last time I went however the it was just right

Chip portions are small and expensive. In fact everything is expensive. Feel like I've been done over when I hand over my money. I try not to go if I have to.
