Been here today for my second time food is really good and the staff make it a pleasant experience

Oh my word what a wonderful experience we have had this evening. My Autistic son aged 33 was treated so beautifully by all the staff and in particular Phil behind the bar. We ordered lots of food for my granddaughters and lots of rounds of drinks. What a lovely evening we have had. Well done to management to employ such wonderful, empathetic staff. 5*, gold plated service. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Will will be back. Kind regards, Theresa Dyer

Not the best experience. Young girl behind bar kept messing with her spot by her nose then touching the glasses. She did this numerous times. Disgusting Food ok. Chips over cooked so we're sent back. Doubt will be returning any time soon. Poor

If like my family you're travelling waaaaay up north on the M6 and sick of paying extortionate prices at motorway services, this restaurant just 6 minutes off JCT 13 offers 2 meals for £11 on selected items from noon and is cosy clean and the staff super friendly. Highly recommend!

My clukin hot chicken burger was very nice and the service was quick. On a negative note I would advise not to eat in the pub on hot days as they have no air conditioning, fans and the windows couldn't be opened.

My son reccomended this pub for the food, said it was really good...... I have disowned him.

Service wasn't with a smile, the bar manager (she) was very miserable to the customers and very short with the bar staff. Not professional at all. Don't think we will be heading back soon.

Only had about 8 chips and 5 off them was hard and tasteless , can't cook chips then there's no hope for rest of menu , higher prices and low quality and portion size as usual.

I came there a while ago, customer service was great, food didn't take long to arrive and there was this one really nice individual called billy he was really careful, and amazing overall, I could tell he really cared about his work and puts alot of effort, everyone was really nice and food was delicious, The place also looks amazing.

I came in Monday evening after work to have a few drinks to unwind, wasn't overly busy which was nice to relax. The girl behind the bar Victoria was very friendly and we chatted a bit had some laughs, always nice to get in a pub these days. I think if I didn't have work early the next day I couldn't of happily stayed till closing time.

Lovely welcoming pub, good food. Always good atmosphere very polite staff, especially Billy he always goes out of his way to make sure the myself and other customers are happy. Would definitely recommend.

Pop in for a drink seems a friendly place although I didn't eat there the food they served looked nice

Came in for the 2 for 11 quid deal after work. First off decided on a bottle of beer because the draught always tastes like vinegar here. Ordered good, which the guy behind the bar decided to completely ignore the deal and charged full price for both meals. Waited for the food...... Waited.... Waited.... 50 mins later, a microwaved lasagne (strangely identical to asdas yellow box cheap stuff) with 2 small pieces of stale garlicless bread. The missus ordered the scampi which was tiny, with terrible chips and cold peas (which she wasn't given a choice over at the bar). All in all lousy food, awful beer and the staff just don't care. Food & service used to be good here, but sadly not anymore. We won't be back.

Food was excellent and piping hot as well as served on warm plates. Portion size about right. Waitress was lovely and informative.

I came to the Royal Oak Stafford with my son and my Mrs, shocking service from the tall skinny ginger lady manager, I asked for a specific way for my starter, I asked for flat wings instead of knuckles which as a paying customer, I thought I’d be listened to! As they weren’t busy in the slightest! I thought it would’nt of been an issue! She then went on to tell me there’s no way she could facilitate that?? I mean what??? Why??? I’m a paying customer? She went on to speak to the chef and mock my order? Are you for real? Then when I got my wings they were all knuckles no flats in sight? didn’t even get one flat? Clearly mocking me, not professional in the slightest, serious action needs to be taken with staff shocking behaviour! Apart from that food was ok for what we paid! but I don’t expect that sort of behaviour disgusting!!!!!!

Couldn't get more efficient staff. Food well you get what you pay for. It was well presented and hot! I think we might have sat too close to the bar.

Went here for a mates funeral. Wasn't a bad place, just a little sad.

The entire team were fantastic tonight from beginning to end of our large family get together for Christmas celebrations. The bar and floor team were welcoming and amazing throughout. The food from kitchen came quickly, all 9 meals came out perfectly cooked even accommodating for alterations needed to meals to account for dietary needs. Thank you to each and every team member for helping to make our evening so special.

It's ok but if you want a steak on a plate, avoid. Served on skillet, it renders the dish quite difficult to negotiate.... For me anyway.

I go there regularly most weekends with my family. We have food and it is usually really good. So i thought why not book the party room for my mums suprise birthday party. So i booked it and payed for it in FULL in august. The party was in November. So the day before the party comes. We receive a phone call saying that they have to cancel it due to a water pipe leak. They had been closed all week. They had not been in touch. The DAY BEFORE THE PARTY they made contact. No apology. So i had to try and find another venue the day before the party for a Saturday night! Nightmare. I went and collected back the full payment i had made for the party room and the manager had to let me in due to them still being closed. No hello. No apologies. Did not say one word to me. So that made me even more upset about how i was treated. An email was sent to the brewery which another manager replied to. Did not apologise for the manager i saw in person. Did not apologise properly for the let down. All that they said was that they ‘feel sorry for their staff being payed minimum wage on the run up to Christmas’ what has that got to do with my party room being cancelled? And them letting me know less then 24hours before the party was meant to start? Yes, stuff happens and a water pipe leak cannot be helped. But them knowing all week and not saying anything until the day before. And them even saying sorry? And saying they feel sorry for their staff? Yeah i get you might pay them minimum wage because you pay them pennnies of your thousands. But not feeling sorry for me who had hired a dj (£380) , been planning the party for months, buying decorations, inviting friends to the party to keep it a suprise? So much for not feeling sorry for your let down customers! And some of my guests showed up to the oak still as they had not got my message about the venue change! Rubbish communication. Rubbish ‘apology’ email. Rubbish Management. I will not be recommending you in the future for anything. Failed me. Failed my guests. Failed the suprise birthday party. Shame on you.

Walked all the way up from cotton fields to find it was shut but said It was open on Google and still looked open from outside as there was no big sign up saying it was shut just a A4 paper on the bar door so didn't know until I walked right upto it hopefully I will get to try it out another time

We all had different meals and they were all delicious. I had sizzling chicken with lemon and pepper sauce. The chicken was so moist, the vegetables still had some bite, there was even tenderstem broccoli which I found very delicious. The best meal iv eaten in a pub/restaurants for a long time, thank you

Just want to say a massive thank you to Billy for his excellent service on our visit, fabulous guy everything was done and delivered to a high standard , would definitely come back again and hope billy was there again as it was a great welcoming and conversation was lovely as this was our first time the the Royal Oak , great food and presentation

Had a fantastic family meal. There was something on the menu to suit all tastes (even the fussy kids). Food was excellent, quick to arrive at the table and lovely and hot. Pub grub at its best.

We came here on my son birthday on last min win and it was definitely a winner for us. With being a family of 5 the prices were really good and the food was spot on. We will definitely come again. I can’t think of anything to improve on this occasion.

First time using this pub, was a nice pub, food good, service good. Didn't have to wait long for food. Just some of the other customers were a bit noisy and annoying.

My sister and I came here for lunch last week and while you could tell food was microwaved and mediocre what really put me off coming back to Royal Oak Stafford was over hearing a person in charge ( most likely a manager ) talking down to a member of staff ( a young girl) couldn’t help but feel sorry for her as the person in charge seemed very disrespectful, not a great impression.

Same review as my post 4 years ago. Assistant manager I assume, has a terrible attitude. I wish there was another bar south stafford to meet friends and ex colleagues for a catch up. The Royal Oak customers all feel the same. I'm in business, not a pub drinker but if I owned that pub I'd be making staff changes. Other than the attitude issue me and a long time family friend had a great time. 👍

The worse pub meal I've ever had down loaded the app was advised to reserve a table as being Sunday when arrived was told table was not reserved to find a table found table most of the things are out of stock but we sat down ordered 2 starters took ages to come out it was chicken wings and nachos chicken wings over cooked and nachos well you cant mess them up as they come out if a bag there was only 3 other tables in so would of thought would of Been a bit quicker than it was then comes main meal I had burger that again was burnt and about 10 chips my wife had chicken strips she said was nice and my brother in law had steak which he said was nice but over cooked then ordered 2 pudding which took 30 minutes for ice cream in a bowl and a brownie warmed up in a microwave never again will I eat here and if your hungry then order a week before and you might get it on time

This is the second visit we've made here and both times it was pretty much the same. The Food is great and a good price, the wait for it is not, 30 mins to arrive, not to mention the barmaids complete focus to completely ignore you and serve all of the locals first before you regardless of when you joined the queue. Then they enforce a rule not listed or mentioned at all about children's meals needing the desert to be ordered at the same time when you place it, meaning you have to pay again for desert later, maybe, mentioning it earlier, like when you place the order, may of avoided this, but maybe another friend appeared that they wanted to serve instead appeared. This is not to mention they seemed to forget to clear our table (but somehow were able to clear everyone else's). We didn't complain, but won't be going back again. They aren't welcoming, the atmosphere is always a little flat, but overall I'd rather take my family somewhere friendlier with good service. Shame because the food was good.

The food that Nikki the chef cooked was absolutely 5 star quality. Presented lovely, came out in a very timely manner. Not a single thing was left on the plate. Delicious!!!

Booked table for 20 of us for sons birthdays was running little late due to me finishing work late we had to pre order our food for everyone I got there 10 mins late they put all food out on table by time we ate it was cold I know not to go there again staff rude telling other customers in pub that we had complained very disappointing then my daughter didn't receive 2 puddings she ordered and payed for basically calling her a liar never again I'll take my custom elsewhere

Everything was fine except for the foods, i have order a steak with prawn and onion rings serve in sizzling plate. I ask for medium rare steak but when it was served its not sizzling hot and the steak was well done. We were thinking to send it back but due to time and appointment with our client we didn't. Please make sure food are good as the clients order expectations and check it before serving to customer.

I booked a table online. Got an email saying to wait for a confirmation. I got no confirmation after a few days so I emailed the pub. Still got no reply so I made other arrangements. Very disappointing as they had come recommended but it looks like they don't want a booking of 13 people. If they don't take this size booking they could have at least emailed back and said.

Billy is brilliant 5⭐, he's a perfect example of how to deal with people. I've been going for a few years and been on multiple visits he's always been lovely. Management however need to take a lesson from Billy, the way they speak to customers is disgraceful. I've seen many many examples of their short and rude attitudes with customers and staff.

The burger I had had quite a large bone in it, which I bit into. But overall the food was very good. It is a lovely hidden pub that is away from the busy city.

The Royal Oak is always busy, always provides good food and plenty of it. it's just the service is always slow. When we choose to go to The Royal Oak, we know we will be waiting upwards of 30 minutes for food. It always has a good atmosphere, plenty of seating throughout the bar and restaurant, and lots of outdoor space in the back and the front where the sun is usually beaming in the evening. We always have my daughter with us, and the waitresses are always friendly towards her. They usually provide her with colouring to keep her busy. Plenty of parking if you chose to drive too.

Very disappointed with new menu jacket potatoes have been removed so if you’re wanting to eat healthy or have celiac disease your stumped .Hubby had the gammon said it was lovely I had the steak and chicken combo steak was very tough and bland and overcooked , I order a salad which looked like it had been hung around for a while with brown leaves and brown cabbage and no dressing . We ate outside and no one came and checked on us , I’m afraid we won’t be returning !!

The worse pub in stafford, the food is nice shame about the management. Asked to warm up a bottle for my baby when we had ordered food and they refused. Said something about health and safety with is not true there is no legislation about warming baby bottles. So we cancelled the order and got a refund.
