We have just arrived home after two weeks holiday staying near Bosbury. We went in numerous pubs in the area and this was the best by far. Very welcoming landlord and the ladies behind the bar also made you feel really welcome asking about your day and remembered your drink order everytime we went back. We did not eat here but we noticed that the tables were all reserved. We are travelling back down to Bosbury again next year and we will definitely be paying this pub a visit or two!

We have visited the trumpet a few times since its reopening earlier this year and haven’t been disappointed! Great food, particularly the fish and chips and pork belly, mains and puddings are generous!! . good choice of beers and wines, great service whether that’s at the table or the bar. So lovely to see this pub loved and cared for as it should be. Look forward to visiting again soon!

Op advies van Engelse vrienden hier gegeten, prima traditionele gerechten voor een eerlijke prijs. Vriendelijk personeel en alles ziet er schoon en prima uit.

Having had good meals at this pub previously! we were very disappointed with our sirloin steaks, which were difficult to cut with a steak knife and after chewing my mouthful for what seemed like ages! making little progress I had to take out and leave on the plate, (there was no gristle on the steak) with the rest of the stake! When the server came by and asked if everything was OK I had to point out that it was hard to cut with a steak knife and as difficult to chew! the server returned and said they'd knock off the price of the steaks! we came to pay and weren't sure of what 2 meals at £21.00 was on the bill, and we were told the rest of the meal which was a small portion of chips and tomatoes and a sauce which stayed on the plate with the steak my friend's steak wasn't good either same problems as my steak, he sent the chips and tomatoes back!! but kept the steak for his dog!!! It was in my opinion silly to charge us for the chips and tomatoes as I wasn't going to write a review! but when they charged us for part of the meal and our evening was ruined and had to go home and make something to eat I'm afraid this pub has gone down in our estimation and we won't be returning for another steak!

We stayed here overnight and booked the restaurant for our evening meal. Lovely staff, in a lovely surrounding. It’s a shame it was dark so we couldn’t see the views. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts and we managed to enjoy all three. In the morning, the breakfast menu was plentiful and the sausage and bacon from a local butcher were very tasty.

My wife and I live close to this venue but in the two years plus that we have lived here, we had not been to this establishment. My wife booked afternoon tea as a ‘special occasion’ as it was our anniversary. The afternoon didn’t start too well as there was no sign of our reservation. Although we had an email confirming the date, it wasn’t in the “Kettle’s” diary. Well it was, but for the following week. We got the impression that this was our fault. We agree that the views are very good and the staff polite but young and not that efficient, certainly not experienced To be direct, a flask and a pack of sandwiches is as good as an alternative as you can see as much of the views if you walk up one of the hills. It is with some regret that my review is honest and offers some direction in terms of improving what is on offer. 1. The whole building is ‘tired’; rather grubby and in need of a complete refurbishment. The outside seating needs completely redoing and the windows definitely need some attention. 2. The ‘tea’ (as in drink) was excellent - hot and tasty although £4 for a teabag and hot water if bought individually seems excessive to me) 3. The food, whilst fresh consisted of 3 small finger sandwiches - well filled but nevertheless small (equivalent to less than a full round of sandwiches), 3 extremely small slivers of cake - very sweet and quite artificial tasting, it did not amount to a whole slice and 1 small fruit scone with jam and decent cream. All for the bargain price of £22.00 each. To put this in perspective, that is: Pot of tea (c2 cups); 2/3rds of a round of sandwiches; half a decent slice of cake; a small scone with cream and jam. This is not a case of affordability but a case of value for money. And this certainly wasn’t. We were not given a choice of bread type or of sandwich fillings or what cakes were on offer. We don’t have any allergy issues but do have likes and dislikes of what sandwich fillings we like. One might argue that this is the price that you pay to eat and drink here and yes, you do have a choice to take it or leave it but at these prices, I’d expect 4 star service and food but sadly, this is just a cafe and I guess they can get away with charging what they like as people will use it. Given that we could have chosen other venues such as The Abbey Hotel, Cottage in the Woods which offer such ‘teas’, this was disappointing to say the least. Sometimes, profit is more important than quality and quantity. Sadly, I don’t see the latter being the priority here. Overall, my wife regretted booking this venue and we will not be rushing back.

I'm a regular visitor here but the quality and quantity of the food has gone down somewhat in the last 6 -12 months and whilst I enjoy looking around the garden centre and shop it now leaves me feeling that I am being ripped off .such a shame.
