We have visited the trumpet a few times since its reopening earlier this year and haven’t been disappointed! Great food, particularly the fish and chips and pork belly, mains and puddings are generous!! . good choice of beers and wines, great service whether that’s at the table or the bar. So lovely to see this pub loved and cared for as it should be. Look forward to visiting again soon!

We made an unexpected stop here and needed to get our meal before the road to Leominster closed. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. We had a delicious speedy fish and chips… we couldn’t recommend the pub highly enough. They even invited our dogs in - we declined this extremely kind offer as they were dirty! We will definitely return - a thousand thanks.

We had a lovely lunch. Nothing fussy but good honest food with very generous portions. They found us a table despite being busy hosting a function and they also took extra time to engage with our little one. All of the food was cooked well and we were very happy with the service from the staff. Highly recommend.

Despite their hours of opening for Sundays listed outside and on their website and Facebook page - 12-6pm - we have been refused drinks on two Sundays running at 17.50 and today at 16.45pm on the basis that there wasn't enough custom in the pub. So didn't we constitute custom? Surely this is no way to run a pub or to treat customers? Won't be going there again and I'd ask other people not to.

Visited twice in the past month with different friends. Excellent food - the mains were well cooked, presented and good value for money. Our orders arrived quickly and were pipping hot (we sat in the garden both times). I can absolutely recommend the slow cooked pork. The staff are friendly, responsive and on their game. This pub has recently reopened under new ownership and is local to me so plan to be back regularly.

Don’t usually do eatery reviews but this pub has had only a few reviews since recently re-opening under new management with a couple (in my opinion) unfairly critical. Hopefully this helps redress the balance. Eat here with my wife and two teenage grandsons early one Friday evening (so it was fairly quiet - maybe half a dozen tables occupied). While there were several starters on the menu that could have tempted me, the younger members of our group were unimpressed so we went straight to mains. Our mains, which quickly arrived, consisted of two battered cods, one belly pork and one pie of the day. All meals were good quality and amply proportioned. The crisply battered cod came with chips, salad and a choice of garden or mushy peas, the pork and pie meals with choice of potatoes (we both chose mash which included finely chopped herbs and small pieces of crushed potato – I’d like to think the latter was by design rather than accident?) and a good selections of veg (finely shredded cabbage, leeks, thin string beans, carrots and peas). My Desperate Dan sized pie, with a tasty chicken and chorizo filling, came fully encased in crisp shortcrust pastry and with a jug of gravy (onion?). Good job we skipped the starters as this left room for a good selection of deserts which this time tempted everyone. Our choices were 1 x bread & butter and 3 x sticky toffee puddings. Again quality was good and again generous portions. My B&B pudding consisted of lovely soft bread (Brioche?) and moist fruit topped with custard with a zig-zag decoration of chocolate sauce – delicious! All-in-all a good quality meal with friendly and prompt service. No complaints (except perhaps a request to review the starter menu). Would recommend and would come again.

This evening we decided to do a last minute stop at the Trumpet Inn as it was on the way home. I would recommend booking as it was very popular with last minutes pitstops like us. Only a few seemed to have booked, Those that came through the door were still accommodated without a fuss. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the food was freshly cooked making it an enjoyable evening meal. We felt the prices were understandably acceptable and would definitely visit again – REMEMBER TO BE KIND TO ALL THAT WORK IN HOSPITALITY AND TO BOOK RATHER THAN JUST WALK IN LIKE WE DID!

As you walk in the pub looks run down. The food was below average we had hot sandwich with melted cheese but was more like a toast not even toasted. The pub was full with people drinking, they only took half of our tables order as they said there kitchen was too busy to do the other half. Half of our table had to leave and eat elsewhere which was very rude. I don’t recommend for families maybe if you want a pint and no food they you would be fine.

We had a delicious roast dinner today for the second Sunday in a row. I'm a stickler for consistency where restaurants are concerned. My husband loves meat and the pork he had on the first visit was excellent and the beef he had today was succulent and perfect. I don't eat meat but the nut roast was simply delicious, probably the best I've had in a restaurant. Each vegetable was cooked to perfection, carrots and broccoli slightly al dente, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes also perfect and the gravy complemented the whole meal. We were too full to eat dessert but what I saw being served to other diners looked yummy. The ambiance was warm and inviting, staff were faultless and a very pleasant bill was appreciated. I'm already looking forward to next Sunday with anticipation.

The Trumpet inn was recommended to us so thought we would give it a try. The staff were bright, friendly and looked as though they enjoyed there job; which we usually see little of these days. I chose a starter as a main course- the smoked salmon and chive pate- delicious! My partner had fish and chip which he assured me was excellent. I had enough room to have an sorbet and had the rhubarb and gin. For those who love gin it’s a must have. I’m sure if you had the three scoop you could be over the limit.

Called here as it was on the side of the road for a quick bite to eat. It was a lovely welcoming and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the food was very overpriced. If you start to price food in the categories which the Trumpet has, you’d expect the food to match really. We were after a light lunch (sandwiches etc) but they are only available Monday-Friday. So we ended up settling for two starters. We had soup of the day, which was tomato - really did turn out to be just a blended tomato... no seasoning or herbs. Very little taste.

We’ve driven past here many times and commented that it looked inviting. We did a very impromptu stop a few Saturday evening ago, and were pleased that there (eventually) was a table for 2 available. I say eventually as the young chap behind the bar seemed unsure if they could seat us so late in the evening, it was 20:30, there were actually a lot of tables free and food is served until 21:00. After checking with someone we were seated. We’d got a drink at the bar and went to the table. My husband had The Creamy Wild Garlic Mushrooms, served on a sliced ciabatta. It was ok, not great, not bad, just ok. But that’s the issue really, for Creamy £6.25 you’d expect something at least “good”.

Chicken with horseradish sauce ( but they had forgotten to put any horseradish in it, it just tasted of cream) with roast new potatoes and a bit of veg. It was piping hot which was good. It was pretty basic for £14. The baby carrots had grit on them and hadn't been washed or scrubbed. It was like eating sand. The staff just said "oh sorry" they didnt offer to change them or replace them. My partner ordered a pie which was nice but basic. The waitress forgot our drinks so I had to go and find her. She did charge us for a cheaper drink to make up for the wait which was appreciated. Prob wont go back. Nothing special and expensive for what it was.

The food was above average but the extremely long wait between order and serving was way too long. Food did arrive altogether. No-one asked us how we found the meal which is very unusual. All in all would only go back if we had a good few hours to wait.

Caught the bus up from a local caravan site. We have eaten here before so expecting the same great food. We found out the pub has been taken over by the old manager so we thought everything would be great. Disappointed to find they have changed the beer selection and no longer do sandwiches on a Saturday, despite them being on the menu! Very disappointed to have to have a side salad as nothing else was appealing. Would have loved a BLT ( better call in the week next time - that’s if the do sandwiches!!).

Looks very historic from outside but the dining extension lacks that charm and is quite ordinary. Menu fine and choice options OK. Went for ham egg and chips and a mushroom pasta dish and side salad. Smaller portion option fine for us OAPa.

We had a great Sunday lunch in this old inn full of character just outside Ledbury on the road from Hereford. We enjoyed a roast dinner, good size portions. The lamb was really delicious, from local farms. Nice veg & ample gravy. Pleasant staff

Booked a table for four on a Saturday evening. We arrived on time and were shown to our table. We chose this pub as it allows dogs in and as it was a very hot and humid evening we didn't want to leave the dog in the car. The bar and dining areas were very busy. We were given menus but weren't asked what we would like to drink, so had to order drinks at the bar. After 15 minutes the waitress took our food orders, we were then told that the main choice for two of us (the gammon) had run out, this was at 7.15 pm in the evening! Two of us ordered starters and these arrived promptly. The salmon pate was rather bland and the garlic mushrooms ok. We then waited for over an hour for our main courses. We enquired about our meals and were told they were on there way. After another 15 minutes they arrived with a short apology. No sooner had we started eating when the manageress asked if the meals were ok - it was too soon to tell! However, the macaroni cheese was very salty, as was the meat pie and the linguine bland. The pie was also too hot to eat- had it been microwaved? The vegetables with it were going cold before the pie could be touched and then it was just to salty to eat much of it. My brother in law couldn't eat it, and then unfortunately suffered with indigestion throughout the night. Very disappointed, as from the outside this is a beautiful pub and in a prime location.

We were staying on a nearby camping site and wanted an evening meal without tears (no washing up) Easy to find at the cross roads with plenty of parking we reserved a table but an early evening wasn't too busy. The staff were all friendly helpful and obliging. We enjoyed a main course and dessert only and were all pleased with our choices. Notably, the plates and food were all served piping hot. The menu was comprehensive but not large and one or two items were unavailable. Likewise there was a reasonable choice of soft and other drinks. We particularly enjoyed the new potatoes being served, obviously a seasonal vegetable. Pricing was in the medium range. Yes, another recommendation for a popular place to eat.

Tried this place while we were in the area because it was dog-friendly. We weren't disappointed, the staff were extremely friendly and even brought a bowl of water over for the dog. The food was absolutely fantastic, well presented and tasted great. I had fish and chips, husband had the Trumpet Pie (proper pie, not just topped with pastry) and 12 year old had cheesy pasta. Also a good choice of desserts that we couldn't resist so between us that was ice cream, Belgium waffle with berries and treacle sponge. All round, highly recommended and would definitely visit again if we come back to this area.

Excellent meal, at good value. Lovely cheese scones & home made soup. The Antique centre above was also full of interesting pieces.

Just dropped in on spec for a lunchtime meal. Excellent service, very friendly staff, delicious food and great value. As of October 2024 you'll get a good sized meal for about a tenner. Good choice of ales etc. Location is perfect for visiting the cathedral and city. If you need an EV charger there's one about 100 meters up the road.

Booked an evening meal whilst staying in log cabin near by. Large portions of home cooked food, quick service and friendly and helpful staff. Reasonably priced, in fact we were surprised and were expecting to pay more for the quality. The decor is lovely as well, quite cozy on an autumn evening. Will definitely return next time we are in the area
