We visited here for a Fatherâs Day lunch. Luckily we could just walk-in, as we hadnât actually booked a table.
The cheese toasties that we had were so good. They were so buttery and crispy. The sweet treats were also amazing. I had a kinder bueno cookie which I very much enjoyed!
The only negative about this place was that it felt quite dark inside. Obviously itâs a barn, but it felt very enclosed not having any windows or another door to see outside. It looked as though they were building an outdoor area when we visited, so it would be nice to go back in the summer.
Moody waitress took the order and started eating a sandwich without telling us to sit down, or even said a word. Then plonked doughnuts and coffee on the table and walked off. Worst service ever.
We were here on Mothers Day for our Anniversary. It was packed out. All the staff were working their wotsits off but were smiling and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A really lovely atmosphere. We were seated by an open door on a lovely sunny day. The flowers on the table were a lovely touch. We ordered the local cider and wine, both delicious. Oh then the food came and kept coming. Just like my Mum used to make. Delicious succulent pork and lamb. Cauliflower cheese, roasties, parsnip, greens, carrots, I could go on. Loads of veg cooked how it used to taste. Puddings were just as good. Our 1 hour journey was money well spent with wonderful scenery and on way back we kept talking about how good it was especially those roasties etc. We bought a couple of the award winning Tipsy Hen pies for our dinner tonight, canât wait to try them. Thank you for our delicious anniversary lunch. Fran and Tony x
A cosy, characterful place with excellent, reasonably priced food and drinks.
The menu features all the smokehouse classics, done to perfection, plus some specials including the suicide wings (laced with Carolina Reaper!). Weâve visited similar places in nearby Nantwich and Baldwinâs Gate, but the food here beat them hands down, as did the service, which was warm, friendly and professional.
Weâll be back!
A friendly little cafe adjoining The Core in the centre of Solihull. Everywhere was immaculate with very clean cutlery and crockery. The menu was simple but the food was fresh and well presented. Very reasonably price, too. Recommended.
It's a really nice hotel with really comfy beds. Everything is spotless and clean. The staff are really nice and friendly, the breakfast was really nice. The rooms are very spacious with a decent size bathroom and a good shower. I would highly recommend a stay here. The queen's Hall is only 5 minutes' walk away and the town centre 8 minute walk.
Almost perfect cooked breakfast, let down slightly by the overcooked tough bacon (pre-cooked then reheated Iâm guessing). Everything else was spot on (and Iâm very fussy about eggs and toast) so will definitely be back. Good value as it includes a very nice hot drink too.
Great little treasure of a venue in a picturesque village. Intimate atmosphere- dogs and child friendly.
Fantastic food and service
Great value and itâs good to support small family businesses
Everything from this bakery is amazing and all the staff are lovely and friendly ham salad baps to die for but so are the warm turkey rolls with stuffing and gravy soooooooo moorish not to mention all the tasty cakes, I love it here đđ
Spoilt what was a great business only 6 months ago. Prices have increased beyond whatâs justifiable for a quick lunch and menu is a fraction of what it was. Such a shame as we were regulars. Not been for 6 months but wonât be returning. Sorry but you need to go back to old store and do what you used to be brilliant at. Customers happy to pay a bit more to support a good cafe.
We were in Stratford celebrating a friend's anniversary which clashed with the football final. We tried numerous pubs to get seating for 10 to no avail. Someone said to try the yard of ale , a very friendly waitress managed to get us a restricted view of a TV but due to someone not turning up she got us a ringside seat. Gave us great service as well, a great experience and boozer shame about the result!
We entered and got a really warm welcome, my family and I got our own private room to dine in. Drinks were served pretty quickly and starters came in no time. We were all happy with our starters and it really set the tone for the rest of the meal. Absolutely not.
There were multiple of us that had the vegetarian/vegan option. âRoaster cauliflower served with all traditional trimmings and vegan gravyâ What was served was just revolting. They clearly had absolutely no idea how to feed people that arenât meat eaters. They were served with just cauliflower (which wasnât even cooked as I could hear it crunching in my cousins mouth!) and three roast potatoes - alongside some gravy that was practically just water.
For ÂŁ70 you expect a lot of a higher standard than this, there was no colour on the plate! No carrots, sprouts nothing! âAll the traditional trimmingsâ my arse! We asked for extra veg and they brought out MORE cauliflower and some sad looking broccoli, both of which were still undercooked and not worth eating to be honest.
I had the beef, which you imagine to be sliced thinly. Wrong. They had practically slabbed an entire beef joint on my plate, treating it like it was a steak! It was so tough and they hadnât provided any sharper knives for me to cut the meat with. My one tiny carrot and parsnip just made it apparent that they clearly had no idea how to serve a traditional Christmas dinner.
Pigs in blankets were brought in 10 minutes into our main meal in an effing cereal bowl? Wtf!
Pudding was okay but it was cold.
I suggest you do you research if you plan on hosting Christmas Day again!! Get some half decent chefs in who know how to cook vegetables. We were so disgusted by the food put in front of us, it was genuinely like they had ran out of food and just put what was left on our plate (we were booked for just after midday, so god knows what the people that came in after us got!)
We did get the correct money off but itâs still a complete joke, we just ended up going home and making a second dinner as we were all starving! We wonât be coming back.
