We entered and got a really warm welcome, my family and I got our own private room to dine in. Drinks were served pretty quickly and starters came in no time. We were all happy with our starters and it really set the tone for the rest of the meal. Absolutely not. There were multiple of us that had the vegetarian/vegan option. “Roaster cauliflower served with all traditional trimmings and vegan gravy” What was served was just revolting. They clearly had absolutely no idea how to feed people that aren’t meat eaters. They were served with just cauliflower (which wasn’t even cooked as I could hear it crunching in my cousins mouth!) and three roast potatoes - alongside some gravy that was practically just water. For £70 you expect a lot of a higher standard than this, there was no colour on the plate! No carrots, sprouts nothing! “All the traditional trimmings” my arse! We asked for extra veg and they brought out MORE cauliflower and some sad looking broccoli, both of which were still undercooked and not worth eating to be honest. I had the beef, which you imagine to be sliced thinly. Wrong. They had practically slabbed an entire beef joint on my plate, treating it like it was a steak! It was so tough and they hadn’t provided any sharper knives for me to cut the meat with. My one tiny carrot and parsnip just made it apparent that they clearly had no idea how to serve a traditional Christmas dinner. Pigs in blankets were brought in 10 minutes into our main meal in an effing cereal bowl? Wtf! Pudding was okay but it was cold. I suggest you do you research if you plan on hosting Christmas Day again!! Get some half decent chefs in who know how to cook vegetables. We were so disgusted by the food put in front of us, it was genuinely like they had ran out of food and just put what was left on our plate (we were booked for just after midday, so god knows what the people that came in after us got!) We did get the correct money off but it’s still a complete joke, we just ended up going home and making a second dinner as we were all starving! We won’t be coming back.

My wife and I initially visited for drinks, and after a pleasent time in the garden we decided to eat at the hotel. Very mixed feelings on this - the setting was nice and the service good. We ordered steak and fries - which came as advertised but fries (as if they'd come directly from McDonald's) seemed a lazy option. Something like rustic chips would have better complimented the steak. The meat itself seemed a good cut but was cooked medium to well, not medium rare as requested. So a disappointing meal despite the very nice setting.

We stayed in the hotel and had dinner on one of the nights, food was nice and staff were accommodating to any needs we had. Breakfast in the mornings was very nice. Would recommend it

We were staying at the hotel as part of a Secret Escapes deal so had £25 each towards dinner. This made it excellent value. The main courses were very good and beautifully presented. Staff very pleasant. The cheese coming on a slate was really good with very good portions of cheese. Breakfast the next morning was good with the main courses cooked to order.

We took dinner in the hotel on both evenings. A pretty mundane menu but at least it appeared to be cooked to order, the staff were friendly and service good. On the first evening I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie, which consisted of some (but not much) ‘pulled’ lamb covered sparingly with piped mashed potato blobs – not really Duchess potato. The accompanying vegetables were a bit soft and somewhat meagre (picture). Honestly, I had expected more and better but then again I was very hungry, having not eaten since late morning. The following evening I had herb battered haddock with hand cut chips and crushed peas that was much better. On both occasions my partner had Grilled Salmon, which she enjoyed. The dining room lacks a bit of atmosphere and because of the high ceiling it feels somewhat prone to echo but the Gothic windows are glorious. The wall decorations were an echo of the past and in keeping with the architecture but could do with some refreshment. The tables are set reasonably well apart for privacy and the staff were attentive with no pressure on us to finish quickly. On both evenings out tables wobbled because of the uneven floor boards which was resolved by wedging a serviette under their bases. Most of the chairs were ‘wobbly’ because their joints had slackened allowing the user to rock back and forth but at least they were reasonably comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was self service, apart from tea or coffee which were brought to the table. A selection of cereals and fruit, some cakes, sliced bread to put in the toaster and a separate table with heated, covered dishes containing hot, cooked items. The ‘Full English’ could certainly be full in quantity – as much as you wanted and the constituents were mostly flavoursome. There was still plenty left at the end of breakfast time.

Huge thanks to Chris and the team at Brownsover Hall Hotel for a fabulous evening in the Wine Glass Restaurant. We were treated like royalty, the food was fantastic and it made for a fantastic way to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. We will be back. This place is seriously overlooked by being on the edge of Rugby, when it should be on the map. Brilliant.

We stayed at Brownover for 2 nights. Although the choices were fantastic, we were so pleased with our meal of burger and lamb, we had the same thing twice, the waitress even remember my husband's extra choices on the burger. We also had the salmon starter. We are always nosey and did fully eye up all the food coming through.Sadley we could not do justice to a dessert...maybe next time. Oh and lovely atmosphere with the big wooden shutters closed against the cold, nice touch.

We decided to eat in the hotel to save time and were pleasantly impressed. The food is not overly fancy but it's well presented and cooked. If you sit in the window you will be sitting where the Jet engine was invented by Frank Whittle.

Attended as a guest for a 70th B'day do, Private dinning room pleasant, nice large table, wasn't crowded. Steady service, not pressured. Food via prebooked group menu. Food in general was good, but they took no steak orders? They all came medium, when some wanted them one way or the other. That was really the only fault I could find. Tidy and clean place nice setting in the heart of Rugby, you'd not know how close to Rugby you were.

We were fortunate to have a three course meal voucher for the WineGlass restaurant. The quality of the food was outstanding, both me and my wife had crab cake for starters and beef fillet for our main course.....both courses tasted sensational, in-particular the fillet of beef. For sweet, my wife had the cheese board and when we return I will ensure I choose that next time. A very enjoyable evening... look forward to returning as I see that do a chateaubriand night. Brownsover Hall hotel is a magnificent setting, so ensure you get there in the daylight to enjoy the hotel grounds also. Given the beautiful setting, the only slight disappointment was the dining room itself, I just felt it had so much more character to give and really enrich the experience, but I will not take that away from the quality of dining we enjoyed..... Thankyou.

We went to this restaurant for dinner. The starter and main course were great but we thought the dessert was not good enough. Service was average and probably need more training. Overall, it is still a good restaurant with nice quality food.

Ate at Brownsover hall for first time in years - a lovely evening. We were well looked after - the friendly, helpful staff went out of their way to make our celebratory meal special. Melt-in-the-mouth steaks were worth the price. We're no wine connoisseurs but Tomas brought us perfect choices for the two types of palate in our group of four. Setting beautiful, as ever. The folk who live on Eden Park, Coton Park and Brownsover are blessed to have such a great restaurant in walking distance. We'll be back.

My boyfriend took me here for Valentines. The building itself looks lovely from the outside, very grand. Our table was booked for 8pm, the host took my coat and led us to our table which was presented beautifully, had a lovely rose on my heart shaped place mat, lovely little clear and red diamonte table confetti around a lit candle. We were given a glass of pink fizz and some water. It was a set menu for the evening but there was still four choices of starters, mains and desserts, all of which, sounded lovely! Oh, and a strawberry sorbet in between the starters and main! At about half 8 a man arrived to sing jazz songs, he sat in the corner and sounded lovely although was a little bit loud at times. The food was absolutely beautiful, I couldn't fault any of it. We also ordered red wine which was also one the nicest wines I've had! Overall it was a very cheesy romantic night, not to everyones taste but I Ioved it!!!

Been down to Brownsover a few times recently for dinner and work meetings instead of going to our usual venue. Having seen some of the not-so-kind reviews I felt a true review was needed (and my first!). Staff and service, a pleasure. Building and grounds, beautiful. Thanks to the pleasant and hardworking staff who made our last meeting go well despite us changing our requirements on the day (thanks Alice!). Dinner was excellent. Was impressed with the blond girl who looked after us last time. Thanks to all.

We were brought a Amazon Local voucher which entilted us to an Afternoon tea at Brownsover Hall. We were a little sceptical as we had heard a few negative reviews but thought we would give it a try and we are so glad we did. We were meeted and greeted by Alice who sat us down and answered our questions that we fired at her and I mentioned it was my husbands birthday and that this was a beautiful location to spend the afternoon. On arrival of our afternoon tea, Alice had put a birthday candle in a piece of cake and sang happy birthday to my husband. He was a little embarrassed at the age of 57 but he was overwhelmed at the effort that had gone in place just for him. We are both vegetarian and had mentioned this upon booking and sandwiches were fresh and tasteful. We were given two big slices of carrot cake. caramel shortbread, scones, jams and cream all served on a beautiful 3 tiered stand. The presentation was beautiful. We both highly reccomend the afternoon tea and will be looking at coming back. Worth the money.

Great venue for local artists and makers. Usually demonstrations taking place. Fabulous cakes and drinks available. It's not a pub anymore! Don't rate it low just because it's not been updated on here it is unfair! How do request a change of listing TripAdvisor?
