A working farm in glorious surroundings. Clean rustic surroundings + a friendly atmosphere. Food is non pretentious, fresh, good portion sizes, & well prepared. Staff are attentive & efficient without being intrusive. We visit frequently & never disappointed.

We walked to Gwatkins and arrived feeling hungry. I am gluten intolerant, the waitress explained the menu choices and we asked if the fish and chips could be done without batter. This was no problem and the chef also provided a tasty butter sauce. The food was delicious and despite being very full we both had dessert, I can really recommend the Boston Cream pie. It’s a treat to have a choice when you are GF.

There was 5 of us. We noticed the pies have reduced in size but still as tasty as ever👍 staff were pleasant and requests , they were on the ball. Chips are fantastic. As for puddings didn’t really need they but the menu persuaded us. Until my husband spoke up and said, shame there’s no cheese board . We it went to the next level the staff - kitchen produced a cheese board off the cuff and my hubby was well happy . The staff obviously chatted and gave a cheese platter no biscuits but it was amazing. Credit to your staff

We were staying locally & Gwatkin Red Cow was recommended as a place to eat & also to sample their cider. We had a lovely Sunday lunch there, polite, friendly & attentive staff. Also recommended to have breakfast there, the Swiss breakfast was AMAZING!! Cider is pretty good too!! Although not with the breakfast of course 😉

Stopped off with friends for breakfast whilst on a motorbike tour. Very friendly (not everyone welcomes bikes, even respectable ones!), great service and delicious food at a good price. Definitely looking to go back again.

Myself and my partner were visiting the are for the weekend and we found this place by other reviews. I have to agree with everyone else who gave this place 5 stars. Absolutely delicious food, you can tell everything was fresh. Simple and tasty, nothing more to add.

We visited here just to pick up some cider and didn't realise it had a small restaurant attached to it. On the off chance we asked if they could fit us in and they were more than happy to find us a table The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. The steak sandwich with mushrooms and very crispy onion rings was lovely and my husband had creamy garlic mushrooms on sourdough toast also really nice. Couldn't fault the food or service and my husband said the cider is pretty good too.

My wife and I enjoyed another fabulous Sunday roast at this remarkable restaurant. Quality and quantity with beef to die for! Furthermore, service was first class. Highly recommended.

Part of a working farm, so nothing great to look at but boy was the pie and mash delicious and really good value with a glass of lovely dry Gwatkins cider to wash it down.

Visit on Saturday 15th April, Not as expected, food was very overcooked onion rings were solid and medium rare steak was heading towards well done. Ordered pudding, banoffee pie was served to me and then 5 mins later that came out and said the brownie my husband had ordered was no longer available did he want to chose something else he declined and then they charged us for it! I had to ask for the bill to be changed won’t be back.

Excellent visit, arrived and saw the animals that the kids loved then went in for breakfast the restaurant is so clean and is so well renovated in a rustic farmhouse way. We had an amazing quality breakfast and the prices are so good. They provide suitable seating for toddlers aswell which is great.

Very pleasantly surprised by the food here, so I felt compelled to write a review. We have popped in quite a few times for a pint, but never for food until yesterday. The atmosphere in the pub is very sweet and cosy with fires going when it's chilly. Good real ales on tap and the bar staff have always been friendly. The food though... we were very impressed! Really tasty, properly comforting pub food, all home made and with local ingredients too! 4 of us eating, two with quite specific dietary requirements but were catered for really well. This was the only place in Kington where we could find a good selection of gluten free options! The chef came out of the kitchen to check everything was okay, talking us through some of the dishes as we were choosing and ask how the food was. He seems genuinely passionate about his food, taking pride in how he tweaks the recipes each time - this was lovely to see. If I was to nitpick, the dining room doesn't have quite the same cosy atmosphere as the main part of the pub, so some tweaking is required here. That being said, this place is truly a real gem that is worth your visit and we will definitely be eating here next time we're in town.
