The best restaurants in Teign Valley Teignbridge South West

Delicious, local food at a reasonable price for the quality of the ingredients. It is under new ownership but has stayed in the same family which is fantastic news as the atmosphere and service remains friendly and welcoming. I always recommend to friends- both local and visiting the area.

We arrived without a booking and the pub was busy, but the staff were able to squeeze us in on one of the emergency tables, which was really appreciated. We ordered the salt and pepper squid and the onion and thyme soup which were fantastic, and the best thick-cut chips I've had anywhere. Sticky toffee pudding afterwards was great as well. Would strongly recommend booking so as not to be disappointed!

We were made very welcome on arrival at The Royal Oak for our one night stay. The private room, with en-suite was tastefully furnished, clean and very comfortable with welcome complimentary coffee, teas and biscuits. Even our cocker poo was given bedding, water bowl, dog toilet bags and dog biscuits - which went down very well. He even had a safe garden area to run in. A great garden with great views to enjoy sitting in with an evening drink. Very good value and would definitely stay there again. Thank you.

Pub nice feeling staff friendly but food let it down triple cooked chips not crispy at all and very dark as if cooked in old oil fish in batter seemed good quality but again batter let it down soft not crispy and again dark as if old oil chowder taste was there but quite thin and fish over cooked fachcia bread nice . Puddings also not very good chocolate cake and rasberry sauce really not very nice so called cake was heavy and gluppy and apple pie apples had gone too far more like apple sauce with cinnamon in real shame as really expecting something nice

Had the most amazing Birthday meal, great assertive friendly service and my duck was beautiful cooked, daulphinoise potatoes where perfection and veg was refreshingly vibrant and not overcooked like most. And the jus was something else. Whole family had a great time in obviously amazing historic surroundings. A gem.

My partner and I visited twice on our short trip to Dunsford, once for lunch where we had a delicious panini and scone and once for breakfast where we had the most amazing full English breakfast. The breakfast was huge, great value and all delicious home-cooked food. Staff are welcoming and friendly and the outside seating area is lovely. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Stumbled upon this likeable pub on our way down off the moor on a Saturday afternoon. Ample parking, an easy large stretch of grass down to the river Teign, several outside bench tables, a couple of families with dogs and young children. Inside, two large rectangular tables already laid for communal suppers. A scattering of afternoon drinkers and an affable, hospitable barman. Well kept beers. An enjoyable hour long break. Recommended.
