This is a perfect place for refreshment during a hike (in our case The Eden Way). We arrived soaking wet and were welcomed by friendly people and a log fire and local beers. It felt like a dream because we were cold and wet and were not expecting to find an open pub!

Lovely food with lots of variety on offer. Lovely service, felt like a friend of the pub on only my second visit, and just a lovely atmosphere. Spent £20 p/p on a main and a drink, and was worth every penny. Feel good to be supporting such an establishment

We were made very welcome on arrival at The Royal Oak for our one night stay. The private room, with en-suite was tastefully furnished, clean and very comfortable with welcome complimentary coffee, teas and biscuits. Even our cocker poo was given bedding, water bowl, dog toilet bags and dog biscuits - which went down very well. He even had a safe garden area to run in. A great garden with great views to enjoy sitting in with an evening drink. Very good value and would definitely stay there again. Thank you.

Late booking and I have to say I cannot believe what a great experience it was.! Off the beaten track but a fabulous building full of character and the landlady Ness was just delightfull.! Food was outstanding in the evening and unbelievable value for money. Quiet location, a really comfy bed, a great nights sleep and the breakfast was as good as we have had on our road trip travels.! Don’t miss out, if it comes up on your search, book it sharpish and book a table for dinner so you don’t miss out.! 10 out of 10.. We will be back if in the area again.!

My partner and I visited twice on our short trip to Dunsford, once for lunch where we had a delicious panini and scone and once for breakfast where we had the most amazing full English breakfast. The breakfast was huge, great value and all delicious home-cooked food. Staff are welcoming and friendly and the outside seating area is lovely. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Stumbled upon this likeable pub on our way down off the moor on a Saturday afternoon. Ample parking, an easy large stretch of grass down to the river Teign, several outside bench tables, a couple of families with dogs and young children. Inside, two large rectangular tables already laid for communal suppers. A scattering of afternoon drinkers and an affable, hospitable barman. Well kept beers. An enjoyable hour long break. Recommended.
