What a lovely property. I booked the “Premium Double Room” as I was in Exeter for business. Received a courtesy call from the owner to check if I wanted dinner on my arrival, explained that I might be late and she kindly offered to have my choice of food ready to be warmed up on my arrival. Found the inn after a drive through a very rural part of Devon (even though Exeter is 5 miles away), lots of parking and easy to find (it’s signposted). Was welcomed by a very polite and friendly young man called “Joe”, who showed me my room and gave me a quick history of the 250 whisky collection behind the bar. My room was good, and even had a decanter of sherry for the guests! Had my dinner which was a tasty fish and chip supper and a couple of pints of ale, finally finished my evening with a cracking whiskey and kept company by a lovely golden retriever. The accommodation was very reasonably priced and included breakfast ( I had to be on the road at 06:00 so unable to comment on the food).

The Nobody Inn is a great place to relax, forget everything and be spoilt. Located in an out of the way location on beautiful Dartmoor this oldie worldie Inn offers both wonderful food and accommodation, the staff are great giving an excellent experience to a wonderful stay. The Inn is always on “stay list” when we are in the West Country

We come to stay at The Nobody inn every year as a growing family now with grandchildren. We’ve commented before on the warm welcome from the amazing team and the high-quality of the food combine with the willingness to cater for food in intolerances. Sue and her team make the very most of the wonderful venue and go the extra mile every time . This time we feel we just have to comment about the extraordinarily good Sunday lunch we’ve just enjoyed. Each one of us felt it was the Sunday roast we had ever experienced and we speak as professionals! The overflowing Car Park bears Testament to this, so make sure you book early to avoid disappointment! Thanks again for a wonderful stay, and for always being willing to find a solution to our weird and wonderful requests ! Wishing you all a successful and happy year Jules, Sandra, Kelly, Dan, Jesse, Kayce, Steve, Jo and Julie xx

I stayed 8 nights at The Nobody Inn, had breakfast each morning, which was made to order and delicious. I think I had dinner 5 of the 8 nights. I ordered something different each time - mostly the pies with coleslaw, potato salad and a green salad. It was a lot of food, even though I had been exploring and walking around all day. I tried to make sure to eat the healthy bits first and not fill up on savory pie and mashed potatoes. Everything was plated with edible flowers and young pea sprouts. All yummy, but I was sad about the peas that won't be. ;-) Being silly....young pea sprouts are tasty and probably full of nutrients. The bar is well stocked with hundreds of whiskys and your other favorites. It's a great place to enjoy a pint of beer outside at a picnic table with a view of the adjacent farms.

I spent 9 nights at the NoBody Inn and stayed in the Rose Room. I loved my room, the food, the pub, and all of the staff. The Pub was built in 1630 and is relatively untouched in its remote Devon countryside location. Accessed by single carriage lanes, it was a little unnerving to get there, but I got the hang of the lanes quickly! Just stick to 20-25 mph, slow down when you can't see around a corner or over a hill. Whomever is closest to a passing area has to back up. My room faced west with a lovely bay window. I spent lots of time sitting at that window, reviewing photos of the day or writing postcards. I enjoyed the birds in the garden and front row seat for every sunset. The entire staff is like family (some are related). They were all very friendly and hospitable. The pub has a great draft beer selection and HUGE whisky selection of Irish, Scottish and English. The local Dartmoor Whisky is very good. Breakfast is made to order and all was delicious (although, I tried, but could not eat the pickled kidneys). I always made sure there was room for brown toast with butter and their homemade whisky marmelade. Coffee is french press - the best! Dinners were robust and all delicious. I didn't eat in the pub every night, but did many. The pies, mash, coleslaw and salads are delish! I wished I could visit every year. Indeed, I do.

I laughed when I read a review which used that word 'tired'. Of course its tired - its hundreds of years old and completely in character with its history. Look at the pictures. We stayed for a night on our way to cornwall meeting farmer cousins Michael and Christine who farm nearby. Michael recommended the pies which the pub is famous for - disaster - ran out at lunch time- as did a few other things so I would say the food was nice - especially the honeycomb ice cream but just standard pub fayre. If you go I suggest phoning to reserve a pie. The rooms were individual and great - not in any way tired. Breakfast was epic- as well as the usual (following my cereal and porridge) were hand cut ham and eggs, kippers or in my case devilled kidneys(and eggs). Anywhere that does kidneys gets my vote and these were very well cooked. Jayne looked after us and is a real star - thanks very much. The pub is famous for its whiskey selection but I think you have to be a bit of an expert to choose one!

Room, ambience, service ’A’-Star. The food is outstanding!!!!! My third stay here and it just gets better every time. The restaurant has also had a revamp, yet has maintained ALL of its character. Highly recommend this gem of a place!

We have recently just moved to the area and thought we would try out one of the local pubs. The NoBody Inn was fabulous, the food amazing (Try the duck and Chilli beef!!) but the service was the highlight. The staff were helpful and efficient and couldn't do enough to help us. Georgie and Tom are a credit to The NoBody team. We will defiantly recommend to our friends.

We recently held a family birthday lunch at this charming old English Inn. Sue and her team were most welcoming and we enjoyed a delicious freshly prepared Sunday roast in the wonderful atmosphere of this characterful 17th century inn. We will be back soon. Thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful old pub serving more 'restaurant' style food (think Rabbit Pie, Vennison Stew, etc). The food was stunning and the place was quaint and stunning.

Always a real treat to visit the Nobody Inn with friends. Sue and her team always there to give everyone a very warm welcome and go above and beyond to ensure you have a great dining experience. A magnificent pub restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. A delicious selection of freshly prepared meals and deserts which were all beautifully presented. I would certainly recommend a visit for lunch or dinner. Thankyou for yet another memorable evening, I will look forward to visit again soon.

This place is heaven if you want a peaceful break away. Food is excellent, staff so friendly, room very comfortable. Having visited several times a few years ago on my own for work finally managed to visit with my husband. He loved it. It is hidden away but definitely worth finding. With only 5 rooms it is difficult to get a booking, so would advise booking well ahead, but because it is small it adds to the character. Had a really lovely couple of days. Keep up the good work Sue and don't change a thing. We will be back! Chris and Kay Potter

10-15 minutes from Exeter but seemingly accessed only by Devon standard 8ft wide lanes. Lovely ambience, delicious food more than make up. And yes, there does seem to be quite a choice in whisky (shame I don't drink).

For whiskey drinkers, you'll be in heaven. Over 50 different varieties. Good food nice service. The owner could be a little friendlier but the rest of the staff you couldn't fault.

It is about 10 years since I last ate and stayed at this excellent hostelry. Not a lot has changed on that time with the exception that they only stock about 220 wines nowadays instead of the 900 odd when we were last here. We chose a table in the garden as the weather was super. I had the fantastic Nobody Inn Steak and Ale pie. A large succulent slice of of incredible beef between proper shortcrust pastry served with Roast potatoes and vegetables. My wife and eldest daughter both had the Crab salad which they both enjoyed. My youngest had the Cheese and Ham Ploughmans. For desert I had a super Sticky Toffee pudding with Clotted Cream. The wife had a scoop of Whisky and Marmalade ice cream. Youngest daughter had the Summer Pudding. Service is excellent, prices very reasonable, and this establishment is well recommended.

Been coming here for more years than I care to remember! Caught up with family for a dinner, food envy as all the other three diners had the Steak and Ale pie, very rich tender and served with generous portions of mash greens and carrots. So tasty apparently that I had to try it. As for the crab and crayfish salad, faultless. Thank you to a wonderful host and supported with excellent friendly and helpful bar and waiting staff.

Popped in for a meal on Sunday evening whilst visiting the area. Sat outside, nice staff and excellent food, much better than the average pub food. We had the hake and the crab, both of which were delicious and very well presented together with a pint of local ale. Would recommend .

A lovely old inn tucked away in Doddiscombsleigh where we enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch. There are 3 rooms where you can eat, all with their own character. Large bar with a really extensive wine list, we were spoilt for choice. Definitely a place to go if you like your whisky! Really well presented smoked salmon and heritage beetroot for starter. The waitress was also really helpful in finding out dairy free options for one of our party who enjoyed the African stew for a main course. Nut roast was good and the chef knows how to make a mean Yorkshire pudding! Could only manage a sorbet for dessert as portions are on the larger side. The owner was very busy initially behind the bar but did take time to check that everything was ok with our meal on at least a couple of occasions. A popular pub in the area so probably best to book.

Rang on Wednesday and was told that they did food all day every day. Made the detour off the a38 on our way to Cornwall on Thursday, to be told that they weren’t doing food! Appalling.
