What an amazing experience! Straight out of Fawlty Torquay! We have been regular visitors to the wonderful pub garden here for many years and know the warmest seats for spring sunshine! We arrived at 11.55 so sat in the best suntrap in the lower garden until opening time. I then bought a great pint of Jail, but was told we could not eat in the lower garden because it was too wet. So we stayed drinking in the lower garden, thinking we would decide when we had ordered food where we would choose to eat. The landlady soon grumbled to us from the top terrace that we had to move immediately and go into the very much damper and green algae covered upper terrace. She kindly took her washing down from the line so we could get some sun but we had to dry the only bench ourselves. Shortly afterwards a lovely couple and their gorgeous dog joined us on the terrace, upset that they had been evicted from inside due to their dog. They then got told off for leaving the door open, and departed before ordering the lunch they had planned.I went to order food and was told to wait whilst the person behind the bar, who had just had her cataracts done ( with much explanation), was on the phone with the brewery order. Her problem was that she only needed two bottles of piesporter and the nonagenarian lady bowler who drank it 'was not a p*** head so they did not need six'. Eventually the elderly waitress who brought out our great pub food moaned that it was far too cold to be coming outside anyway. I can appreciate that she would have struggled with the steps to the lower terrace. As above, a very Fawlty experience service wise! We will go back in the summer, everyone is allowed an off day! Thank you to the chef and to Jail Ale!

Had a wonderful evening in the pub & restaurant. The views over the ocean are spectacular and and a beautiful full moon and its reflection in the sea. The food was excellent and generous portions. The barman and waiter were busy at the start due to the rugby being on but were still very friendly and got our various orders correct. We loved that this is a community pub and were happy to support it. Please support it too as it’s lovely and friendly and we want it to do well and stick around for many years to come!

So I've been compelled to update my review of this quaint little pub. We have been coming here multiple times a year for the last 6 years. It is always the highlight of our trip and the food is the gold standard of great pub food. Our latest trip here was nothing short of that. With the french food magician (Dom) injured and out of action, the food was still to his high standard (so a huge congratulations to the kitchen staff). Even though they were understaffed they made us feel welcome and any problems were quickly resolved, with apologies and an amazing sense of humour. Thanks Adam for being a great barman! Of course we will be back in a few months for a next trip down here.

Another excellent meal and we really enjoyed our evening. Special mention to Josef who we hadn't met before: We've always had lovely service at The Green Dragon but tonight was exceptional. Very dog friendly, too. Always a treat to come here and we will be back often ! Clive, Helen, Albie and our JRT, Daphne
