The best restaurants in Oxenhall and Newent North East Forest of Dean South West

My partner, pup and I stopped on route to Shropshire. We were welcomed by lovely staff who showed us where to log our car for parking. We were shown to our table quickly and a lovely lady brought us a fresh bowl of water for our dog. Our order was taken after a few minutes and drinks arrived shortly afterwards. Our food came quickly and was really tasty. My partner had ham, egg and chips, and I had stuffed vine leaves - both were great. The only reason four stars were given and not five, was the outside looked tired (we had to go inside to check they were open) and the toilets were out of toilet paper and soap - which 45 mins after they opened was a little disappointing.

Really cosy proper old style pub , The lady serving doing the bar was friendly and nice . Had an amazing meal off the specials my friend had satay chicken and the portion was huge I had the chicken special it was delicious and the proper pub chips first time here and I will be back nice little pub good work kings arms

Having stayed here many times in the past, sadly the stay was nowhere near as good with the change of owners. The lovely warm welcoming atmosphere has gone which was evidenced by how quiet it was on a Saturday night. The place used to be full of locals! Our evening meal was ok. Breakfast was not great, I suspect pre-cooked and no real choice. The place is starting to look tired including our room which had none of the nice touches it used to have and instead had a dodgy shower, a leaking window and a hole in the bathroom ceiling. We had to ask for toilet roll and teabags and a shocked response when I asked for non-dairy milk and was given oat milk that was off!

My partner and I had dinner here over the May bank holiday, it was our first time visiting. The restaurant itself is lovely, light and airy with beautiful views over the adjacent vineyard. Very attentive and friendly service from Marta. We shared a few plates between us, everything was tasty, and there was a reasonable vegetarian selection. I thought overall the menu was quite pricey, and portions on the small side (even for tapas/light bites).

Great pub great food,good choice of menu and very reasonable price. Couldn’t fault what we had . The waitress even asked if we had any allergies which is a plus for myself as I’m coeliac. Would recommend visiting plus free parking for motor home over night . Another plus .

Great room for the night and good food. Service perhaps a bit slow, unfortunately bar was cold and certainly needed heating in late September/ early October - a real shame.

Wrap was soggy chips had vinegar on them when only wanted salt. Disappointed 😞

Avoid at all costs. Received £100 parking fine for stopping here for 30mins. Signs are not lit up in the dark, not made aware of requirements for permit. Absolutely disgusting management

Visited whilst on holiday. We are 2 elderly ladies and wanted 2 children's breakfasts, the others being too large. We were refused, first time I have ever experienced this. Wont be going back. Also entrance was treacherous with slippery moss on paving stones, and very wet.
