Arrived at 7pm to a warm welcome. We took out two labradors too. We were seated in the back part which plenty of room. Opened a tab behind the bar. Everyone was friendly. Food reasonable priced and large portions. Would return if in area again

We called into this little diamond en-route to Elan Valley - and what a great stop off. Pub is full of character with extremely friendly staff and regulars - who were extremely knowledgeable of the area. When ordering all asked if we had any allergies - which was a great start. Food was fresh, all home cooked and very tasty!!! Thank you Wayne (chef) we all left with empty plates. Staff were extremely helpful when our old dog had a small mishap :). What a great little place to start our holiday - will surely be back.

Came here by chance as the pub we had wanted turned out to be under new management- hideous. Plenty of parking. Dog friendly, has a treat stash which Crackers appreciated. No surprise there. Camra pub so was pleased to see Revd James on tap which is a decent drop of beer. Sadly (for me) some very tasty guest ales are planned for near future. We are only here for the week. Menu is not stunningly original but generous portions and not expensive. Ladies facilities with handles to help you rise from the throne! Thank you so much for that. Staff are very welcoming, friendly, solicitous and deserving of a decent tip. We hope to return here one day. Thank you.

We visited on a Saturday evening and the pub was nicely busy with diners and drinkers. A great range of Beers and Ciders available, with friendly and speedy service. The food was fabulous, a good choice of pub food options with some different choices as well, generous portions, a lovely salad garnish and all reasonably priced. If you want a good value evening in a friendly, local pub with high-quality food, The Kings Arms is well worth a visit.

Visited on a recent stop over in the area. Unfortunately found the food very disappointing. ‘homemade’ fish pie tasted like freezer mix with no fish flavour, smothered in grated cheese- was more just like a cheesy mash. Garlic bread from the packet. Partners food also did not taste fresh. For the price we expected better. Sorry to say we wouldn’t visit again.

Stayed overnight in the car park in our motorhome. Really warm welcome on arrival and she went out her way to check that we were happy with the parking. Level enough parking, so no issues there. The pub is cosy, friendly (staff & locals) and food is straightforward and very well cooked. We will certainly return when breaking long journeys to the West Country. Thank you very much for our stay; we can thoroughly recommend this little gem. Ps, beer spot-on too 😁

Listen up. My brother booked a Sunday lunch here today. It was amazing. Service is first class. Every single member of the team was happy, smiley and helpful. And the food? Most of us had roast beef. Just over £10 for a small (it’s not small) serving . £13.50 for a regular ( very big) serving. The beef was slow cooked and sooo tender. They bought us more mixed veg than we could eat and really tasty cauliflower and broccoli in cheese sauce. 6 of us including 2 kids. 6 empty plates. The puds are just over a fiver. Really good. EXCELLENT service , great pub food and great value. Well done “The real boss” and team. Don’t change anything. You’ve nailed it!❤️

Lamb roast (for a £1 supplement) was listed on the specials board, but sadly not available by the time we ordered.Portions were plentiful - 3 of us ordered the regular size but I wascontent with small size portion and that was plenty for my smaller appetite. A big dish of fresh vegetables and another of cauliflower cheese arrived for us to share - more than we could possibly eat.The pub was busy - no surprise - but service was prompt after we had ordered at the bar. This is certainly deserving another visit when we next come to Newent. The billfor 2 of us -one regular and one small roast, 1 and a hlf pints of beer, came to about £22.50 plus tip.

Visited my sister in Ross on Wye last weekend in October. She booked us in for Sunday lunch at the Kings Arms. Here we go. I thought, another crappy Sunday lunch from a pub. How wrong can you be. I have eaten many Sunday dinners at various venues. It is difficult to find a place that serve a Sunday lunch like you would have at home. Well have I got news for you. I had a roast beef dinner, my Mom had lamb roast and everyone else had beef as well. You have 2 options small or medium. We all went for the medium. The lamb roast only came in a small but didn’t really look any different to me. The meat parsnips and potatoes arrived already plated. The meat was just under half inch thick and the size of a good sirloin steak. A brave serving I thought from the chef, especially if it was a tough old bit of beef. Well to say it melted in your mouth was an understatement, it was absolutely delicious. The veg arrived in a separate platter. 5 different veg. Cabbage, swede, peas, carrots, and a second dish of the must have, cauliflower cheese.

Sunday lunch, traditionally cooked was excellent but the puddings left a lot to be desired and they would also of been better if home made like the lunch but I suspect they were not. My comments to "mine hosts" regarding the puddings we're at best ignored completely as they were more intent on booking another couple in for lunch! The young waitresses were always polite and did their best but a little staff training would not go amiss as they were not sure of the lunch menu or if there was a vegetarian option plus we had to ask for the condiments which is a standard must especially for Sunday lunch and to be given an English mustard sachet took the gloss off what was a very good dinner nicely cooked and well presented!

Had heard good things about this pub so thought we'd try it out for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. Phoned on the Saturday to book a table for two for the following day and was pleased we did. We received a warm welcome from the Landlord and Landlady when we got there a little early, drinks and food order was taken at the bar and we took our drinks through to our table. The food arrived, served by friendly helpful staff, and it was excellent. We'd both ordered the slow cooked beef which was thickly sliced and beautifully tender served with roast potatoes, roast parsnip and Yorkshire pudding. Vegetables were served separately and were perfectly cooked and piping hot. The cauliflower cheese was to die for. Gravy boat and sauces to finish it all off. We'd gone for the small portions and still couldn't manage a dessert. If you're looking for good service, generous portions of quality home cooked food and at a good price then this place is worth a visit ... but it's worth phoning to book a table as, not surprisingly, it was clearly popular!

Have eaten here quite a few times now and every meal has been more than tasty. The portions I admit are huge, too big for me, the husband usually has to finish my food as well as his own. We especially love the burgers, filled with not cheap meat but proper steak meat which I believe the landlord sources locally-so tasty!!! Pie night is another one of our favorites, where else can you go these days for a meal and a pint for £8. Great ambiance, great welcoming hosts and a bar full of characters. We defo recommend and will be visiting again soon. Thanks guys.

Booked a Christmas Lunch for our end of season get together. 17 people, some having two courses and some having three.Everything went smoothly from the moment we walked in. A beautifully decorated table, complete with crackers and place names, and what each person had chosen. The food was delicious and excellent value for money. The waiting staff were friendly and very efficient, couldn't fault anything! Well done everyone.

Took my mum to lunch, food arrived promptly and hot and on hot plates, the veg was well cooked and generally good, however the staff need some training, my ginger beer was plonked into a pint mug, come on! They brought the food to the table with tea towels dipped in my gravy, so this smeared as they dragged them off, I noticed other tables had the same treatment, so clearly normal service. The bill was not brought to the table either. Simple problems easily sorted

Made to feel very welcome by staff and locals. The meals were brilliantly cooked and presented, very hot and delicious. Good prices, the puddings were amazing! Not poncy food, just good home cooked food! The fact the pub is always busy speaks for itself. Children anD dogs welcome. The camping was secluded and quiet. The landlord gave us good advice on walks in the area and was knowledgeable. The pub has good atmosphere and we will be definitely going back again and again! Well done Keep up the good work. Wish you all the best.

Although there have been some issues mentioned in earlier reviews, it appears that these are being addressed (for example, dogs are welcome in specific areas, but not throughout the pub.) We had a pleasant lunch, with a choice of three different sizes of meal. There were only two roasts on offer, beef or turkey, but both were very tasty. Whilst the vegetables were rather school-dinnerish, and the gravy a little under-seasoned, the (deep-fried) roasties were crisp and well-flavoured. The whole meal was prompt in arriving and certainly hot enough. The desserts came in generous portions and we felt the whole meal was good value, with good service too.

Called in for an evening meal and a pint. Staff are helpful with just the right level of attentiveness, at least for me as I do not like too much of the insincere " Is everything alright " 1 minute after your meal has been brought to you. The meal was good in amount taste and how it was on the plate. The pint I tried a ringwood brewery bitter was well to my liking. All in all what I was after, a decent meal and pint with no drama.

Not the best experience, not sure dogs walking around the dining area is ideal. Very quiet and not much atmosphere. I think it's recently been taken over so hope it improves as it used to be a very good pub.

Much too salty. Salty bread, salty beans, salty crust on chicken pie. Hake on a sea of red mush unappealing. Pie a bit too dry. No sign of a Manager. Not impressed and will not return. At least the prices were not outrageous but standard of cooking below par. Good beer.

The dinner was one of the most inventive, delicious meals we have ever eaten. Faultless, understated and fantastic. Service was unobtrusive and efficient with a very simple, good wine list
