Booked at the Miners for a special celebration as the website had a good choice of vegetarian food. What a fantastic place! The service was exemplary, staff were super friendly and fun and we felt really welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and they even changed a dish to make it strictly vegan. Food was absolutely delicious. I had the Japanese curry which was so good. Our friends love a sticky toffee pudding and they said the Miners homemade one was the best ever, a melt in your mouth pudding, with butterscotch sauce and homemade custard. Can't rate this place highly enough, just wish we had found it sooner. Will definitely be back...

Excellent lunch for a group of 10. All meals were well presented, delicious, and good quality. Service and environment was just as good. We will return!

We had been walking in the forest all morning and pulled in for a quick lunch. The pub was welcoming and clean with a varied menu. The food came quickly in spite of them being busy. It was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommended.

Nice place to stop with the family. It has a great little beer garden with plenty of tables and enough play equipment to keep the kids happy for a while. Also some chickens for them to look at. The food was good, perhaps a bit pricey but still good value for money.

After nice drive around Forest of Dean. Stopped here as looking for food. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We got shown to a table straight away and the waiter was really attentive. Food menu and specials board had alot of nice options and a good variety. Food was lovely and hot and just the right amount. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Nice size carpark. Nice size garden with little play area for children or adults 😊. This is situated in a quiet little village. Having had a nice first experience here I would definitely recommend and go again.

Last minute lunch booking with family and was really impressed. Food was delicious, lots of choice, served quickly and with a smile. Staff were lovely, really accommodating and what a lovely setting for adults to relax while the children played. Loved the unusual chickens and the wandering sheep made a visit, much to the delight of the children. I will definitely visit again.

Service was quick and incredibly friendly. Any staff we spoke with met us with a smile. Great with questions about gluten free options. Quality food & Dog friendly.

Excellent service, and the food was delicious. Roast beef, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and a huge Yorkshire pudding, all cooked to perfection followed by chocolate fudge cake for dessert. Hope to return soon.

Despite not booking we were welcomed with no fuss. Food was good and value for money. Nice Guinness is a bonus.

Excellent lunch at the Miners Arms, we both had the ham egg and chips . It came very quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Chips were homemade and the ham and eggs very tasty, with a lovely fresh side salad and portion of freshly made coleslaw. We sampled Wye Valley Butty Bach and HPA beers and they were excellent too. Friendly and attentive staff, with great attention to detail. Toilets were very clean too. Would recommend 100% for a drink be / or meal, so very close to the Float in the Forest experience we were doing in the afternoon.

We popped in for lunch. I had a chicken salad ciabatta and my son had the kids pasta. Very good quality food, lovely presentation, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely tables inside and out to choose from. Would definitely come back again. Thank you

Lovely meal at the Miners Arms.. Staying for a few days in Whitecroft. This was the local. Food was excellent and service from all staff was amazing.

We stayed in the cottage next door to the pub and had three fantastic meals here. Super dog friendly, Ian was very welcoming and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend popping in if your near.

First time to this pub, nice location, great garden for children. Very friendly hosts, our roast was delicious, very generous portions and good value for money, would highly recommend.

Quaint little pub. Staff are very welcoming. There is a bus stop right outside which we used however was not the stop we needed haha. But all in all an amazing place reasonably priced and if this place is part of your adventure have a pop in.

Eating here was one of the highlights of our stay in the Forest of Dean. Really delicious food, clearly prepared from scratch and lovely staff who welcomed us all (2 adult, 2 kids and our dog) and were very happy to chat. The eating area is quite spacious, whereas the the bar area is rather more cosy. Wouldn't hesitate to come again if we're in the area.

The food here is really tasty and apparently prepared from scratch. And the staff were super friendly and made us all (2 adults to 2 children + dog) feel at home. I would particularly recommend the lamb shanks which were delicious. Only docked a start for Atmosphere as we visited on a wet March Tuesday evening and it was very quiet in the lounge area, which is quite spacious. We moved into the bar area after we'd eaten and it was lovely an cosey. Will definitely go back when we're in the area.

We had a 50th birthday party in the Miners Arms, and it was a fantastic venue. The food was great and the atmosphere was excellent, and the staff were very accommodating, and added to the excellent atmosphere. Thank you all.

Absolute jewel of a pub. We were in the area and popped in by chance. Outside it was pouring down...inside a lovely coal fire, warm welcome, delicious food and the sort of personal service you wished every place could have. I highly recommend this to everyone and we will definitely be back in the near future.

Our walking group held their annual lunchtime dinner at the Miners Arms, following a morning stroll. Our table was laid ready in banqueting style in a cosy room, just off the bar. All 26 of us enjoyed ample portions of well presented food with very hospitable staff in attendance. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I am already planning my next trip. Thank you team for making our meal so enjoyable!!! 😀❤😀

We had a family meal here New Year's Eve whilst staying locally and it was fabulous! There was 7 of us. We had the Sunday lunch, portions were a great size, there was plenty of veg, the staff were so attentive and so kind to my children. The room we ate in was beautiful and fab for the kids. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely return and highly recommend to everyone!!

A Christmas dinner with a group of friends. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Had a “Christmas dinner” at another local hostelry yesterday which was good but this was better! Spoilt for choice in the Forest!

First time being there and was a proper classic pub proper enjoyed it, staff were friendly drinks were nice, if youre looking for a good decent pub this is the one to go to!

I had the lamb shank with Sunday roast, it wasn't the best, very like supermarket frozen, not enough gravy and plates were cold. All staff were friendly. 2 desserts came un heated, just showed nothing was made in house.

I had hunters chicken, and my husband had ham egg and chips. Both meals 😋 lovely and served with a lovely side salad. Have visited this lovely pub quite a few tines as we have family who live close by in the forest. Although we have never eaten here the food looks amazing! The staff are always super friendly, and attentive. The pub is dog friendly, clean, cosy and comfortable and the real ales are excallent. Always enjoy out visits and definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area. Just wish all pubs were like this!

Don't bother. Booked for 1pm. Ordered 3 soups. Didn't have any soup left. Ordered 3 lamb shanks. Didn't have any left. Ordered calypso coffee. Didn't have any tia Maria. Table next to us Ordered cauli cheese and pigs in blankets. Didn't have any left. What we did have was OK but deffo won't be going back. Oh and then on the way out went to the ladies and only one was free as guess what. Out of order..

This place has it all. Lovely friendly locals amidst a dog owners paradise. Plenty of room outside to enjoy a drink and the food wow. We ordered King prawns and Wild boar pate for starters and this did not disappoint. The main courses were Lamb shank and sirloin steak and the chef knows how to cook meat to perfection. We really would give them 6 out of five if it was allowed. Excellent venue for a perfect evening Thank you Ian,Chris and the team

We ate here several times during a recent stay in the Forest of Dean. The Homity Pie was delicious and filling and the Lamb Shank was every bit as good as the other reviews suggest. The food is reasonably priced and the service is friendly and not rushed, but certainly not slow.

This review is primarily for our weekend break at the Miners Cottage adjacent to the Miners Arms in Whitecroft. The owners of the Miners Arms additionally run the cottage for self catering. We chose the Cottage due to its superb location enabling short mileages between the Cottage and key Forest of Dean towns such as Coleford, Cinderford, Ross on Wye etc as well as even shorter travel to many of the principal visitor locations such as Puzzlewood and the many forest walks and lakes. The Cottage has a fantastic atmosphere and the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are modern and very well laid out and equipped with everything you could possibly wish for. Upon our arrival, feeling a little weary due to the heat and drive from South Devon, we were warmly greeted by the Cottage hostess who additionally presented us with fresh milk, hot cross buns, fresh bread and butter to revive us! The lounge area contains a large flat screen to and opens onto a real gem…a wooden decked balcony affording expansive views across the nearby fields and woodlands, a great place to relax after walking the forest paths with a glass or two of cool wine. We thoroughly enjoyed the laid back vibe of the cottage and it’s proximity to the forest itself. The kitchen has everything you would need eg dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble drier etc. The bathrooms have fabulous showers and one has a large bath. We spent each day out and about since the trave distance to most of the most popular visitor attractions are well within 10 miles or less. In short the Cottage is fantastic and we are seriously considering a return next Spring. We did bring back drinks from the Miners Arms but as we were out and about ate at other equally well appointed pubs and restaurants.

Only stopped for a drink but the beer garden was lovely with a playground for kids, wendy house and chickens running around!

Friendly owners, and pub looks very welcoming. Lovely large garden with a pretty substantial kids climbing frame and plenty of tables. Good selection of beers and ciders, and the food is excellent, with plenty of veggie options. There is live music during the summer ... wish they kept it going into the autumn!

They looked after 14 of us (4 families) in a delightfully friendly way. Food was simple but delicious, very reasonably priced and the service was excellent. They sat us on a long table (kids one end - adults the other) and were very attentive and helpful. Happy to have well behaved dogs too.

Came here upon recommendation from our holiday cottage and it was spot on. Service was excellent and staff really friendly. Food was top notch and there were clean plates all round! Particular favourites were the Wild Boar pate and the Lamb Shank. Would definitely recommend. Lovely beer garden and outdoor play area for the kids too. Dog friendly

Just had diner at the Miners Arm, food and service was excellent. Ability to cater for dairy free child very good. Well presented bar and eating area, toilets very clean. Would happily eat here again.

Family and dog friendly. Great food , friendly staff . Stayed at The Miners Cottage next door. We ended up eating here twice during our stay. Lunch on first occasion was a walk in and luckily mine host, Ian, managed to fit me ,my son and my 3 and a half year old granddaughter in, despite there being some large parties booked. Staff were speedy and efficient and despite the busy kitchen we didn't wait long, The pint of the local Butty Bach ale helped the wait. When the food came my Faggots with mash and veg were excellent, reminding me of childhood holidays spent in South Wales at my Grandma's. My son's home made steak pie was ,he reported, "lovely". High praise from a Northerner. My granddaughter devoured her burger and fries, so another yes vote. Even though the mains were filling we opted to treat ourselves to a dessert. My Sticky Toffee pudding was great and my son's Chocolate Fudge Cake was devoured as was my granddaughter's ice cream. Sunday lunch was booked before we left. It did not disappoint, the roast beef and enormous Yorkshire puddings were the best I have tasted in a long time, the beef tasty, tender and succulent, the YPs crispy on the outside and tasty. So tasty my granddaughter had two. We couldn't manage a dessert this time. All in all excellent food, good value and Ian and his staff added to the positive dining experience. Well worth a visit if you are in the area

Booked this place on the day having been to Go Ape, for 7 +2dogs. What a find. Lovely staff, (ian is brilliant) good selection of drinks & very dog friendly. The food though is excellent, so fresh, so tasty, with local produce; simply wonderful. We’ll be back. Just book this place & go.

Sorry to say we had hunters chicken. Which was more like a cheese toasty. You couldn't call those thick chips with scrumps like that, and it just doesn't work. And my salad was Well pass its sell by date Got to say, felt really let down. There is better pubs in the area with better quality food for cheaper prices

All good enjoyed our visit, we are hoping to move to the area at some point and it was recommended that we visit this lovely pub, it didn't disapoint, not many in the wet Tuesday afternoon that we visited but the people we met were very friendly. We'll be back 😀
