Really cosy proper old style pub , The lady serving doing the bar was friendly and nice . Had an amazing meal off the specials my friend had satay chicken and the portion was huge I had the chicken special it was delicious and the proper pub chips first time here and I will be back nice little pub good work kings arms

Highly recommend. Our first time experiencing a free stop over in our motorhome over night. Very quiet and private. Beautiful cosy pub with lovely welcome from staff. Very polite and accommodating. Food was absolutely amazing !! Very big portions and cooked to perfection. pudding were spot on too!. Complementary to the chef!. Prices were more then reasonable. Dogs are welcome so my pooch felt well at home asleep in from of the open fire. We will definitely return Thank you for an amazing experience See you again soon!!

It's not the biggest selection on the menu, but the portions were a good size, and the food was very good. Guinness was also really nice. I didn't try any other beers, but they had a reasonable selection. We will definitely be going back

Following the great reviews, we finally got to try for ourselves. Got to say we weren't disappointed, quick friendly service, lovely homemade food with massive portions. Would love to visit again and try some more lovely food.

A lovely pub, good food at a sensible price. Our walking group, of 28 members, had an excellent Christmas Lunch. All served hot, by wonderful staff.

Once again a fantastic meal! I love a pie and this festive offering did not disappoint! Partner had Katsu chicken curry and I may 😉 have stolen a chip or two, who could resist these beauties! He (who usually doesn't eat chunky chips) has just said "I don't think I've ever had chips so good" As always a warm welcome and great service from all.

Amazing welcome from lovely staff. Food was perfect and live music on Saturday night was lovely. Stayed overnight in our motorhome free of charge ❤️ Nice stroll around the lake Saturday afternoon. Sunday roast was huge and delicious. Can’t wait to go back. 5*

We took a friend for a meal . As soon as we walked in there was a awful smell, waitresses got us seated , , than we had to run after a waitress to get our order , I ordered steak if you can call it steak , when it arrived I could see it was not right . It looked like a boiled peace of meat , I called the waitress over to complain, she said she will get the chef , after a few minutes the dirty looking chef came storming over to me , and said what’s wrong with my steak. He did not give me a chance to speak he was loud every one hard him , he was so rude not even a sorry that I could not eat my meal , I ask to speak to the manager. She was rude to did not care , they expected me to pay for my meal , which I did they did not care I did not eat at all , the drinks were flat and all the meals were not good , I have never experience so much rudeness in a restaurant. As soon as I could smell something awful we should have turn around and walked out ,we ask for a box to take the food home for the dog .the way you replied shows how rude and unprofessional you are .

Went to see a friend in Newent. So we saw this pub called the kings arms with good review so we thought we book a table to go and eat. We arrived and there is 2 entrances to pub. We went through the back which is disabled entrance but my mum and dad and friend are. Once we walked through a lovely girl escorted us to are table. We had a lovely table by the window. So we sat there and wasn’t told what to do. My dad was given one menu and that’s it. lol. So in the end we managed to order are food but they don’t do starters only main and desert which was a bit weird cause most places serve starters. My mum ordered a steak and trimmings. Me and my dad ribs and trimmings and are friend hunters chicken. We ordered drinks and just waited for food: when food come waitress very good looked after us. My mum had a problem with her steak it was awful.i tried it 2. She complained that she can’t eat steak. So waitress went to speak to chef. Within 10 minutes the chef came storming out and said to my mum what is wrong with my steak? He did not let my mum say anything . Rude . Not professional and shouted so loud the restaurant heard. We are now fuming by the way he performed to client. I’m not saying no more not going back. Manager did not care one bit. chef needs to sort him self out. You do not approach someone like that and especially my mum

Fabulous staff , fabulous food . I would have marked the pub 5 only a couple with a dog in a dog pram came in , The dog woman put the dogs food and water on a table where people eat , then the dog shit in the pram and it stunk , Waited for the staff in pub to say something but they didnt so we left. The pub should not let dogs in or have a specific area for dogs and their owners

Booked in on a pub stop over in our campervan. Had a very nice welcome and given loads of information about the fun day in newent centre. Booked a table for 7:30pm and was greeted again with very cheerful staff. The menu is fantastic and really great prices, the food was excellent and good size portions. We will be going back and will recommend to friends and family. Well done on a great pub.

The food is decent pub grub, tasty and good value but nothing flashy. The place is nothing flashy either it’s a little ‘stuck in a time warp’ but this only goes to make it feel more cosy. I ordered sweet chilli halloumi burger for my daughter and forgot to say no chilli. I asked if it was too late to change it when the halloumi was already under the grill. They were really brilliant and made us a plain one without question and seemed genuinely happy to do so. This kind of generous and understanding service is so rare. I’m so glad I stopped.

Found this pub on a free motor home stop over page on fb so happy we did excellent service greeted with friendly staff.Food was outstanding with a wide range of choice including specials at a reasonable price for the two of us.parked up behind pub felt safe.highly reccomend will be visiting again on our travels.

Family friendly pub, the food is really nice and all is reasonably priced, staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome, looking forward to coming back here.

I looked on Google Maps for a halfway point on the map for us to stop for a lunch break on our way to Cheddar from Montgomeryshire, Mid Wales. The Kings Arms looked a good halfway stop. We pulled up, walked in and had a really friendly greeting from staff. Great selection of local ciders and ales from the bar and I went for a cider of their recommendation. I wasn’t disappointed! There was a good selection of food from the regular menu and specials menu and we all really enjoyed our meals. Access and parking is easy with plenty of space behind the pub. We really had a lovely meal and great experience and will certainly make this our halfway stop again in future & if we’re in the area again. It’s pinned as a favourite on Google Maps! Highly recommended.

This is what great pubs are all about. Fantastic staff, amazing food, and lots of it, we travel 150 miles round trip to eat at the King's Arms and have do so on many occasions. Can't wait for our next visit.

Top notch for everything! Steak was beautifully cooked, this is a dog friendly place, GREAT chef, FANTASTIC atmosphere, even I made new friends! Book in advance or lose out!

Food was delicious, we had scampi followed by jam sponge/sticky toffee pudding. The only 2 negatives were we wanted a garlic bread as a starter but was told by the waitress they only did side orders not starters. Also we had to go to the bar for our drinks which as 2 widows with walking sticks left us feeling very uncomfortable with and even when we explained the waitress said she couldn't do anything about it.

Great Motorhome stop over. Everything was perfect. Great menu, wide selection of beers. Food was very tasty.

Such a lovely place, the food was great and the staff went above and beyond going out of their way to make food for us. Me and my friend were walking around the centre trying to find somewhere new to eat with our toddlers but everywhere was shutting. We are both pregnant so were both very tired when we got to the kings arms today at 2.30pm. The exact time they were shutting the kitchen. We explained that we would just sit, catch our breathe and have a drink but instead the chefs let us order some food. The girl behind the bar was so friendly and gave our kids some colouring. We will definitely be back soon for some more food! Any other place probably would have finished closing the kitchen and let us be on our way.

Darnt be too open as I don’t want to get roasted for what I consider honest of my personal experience. Found owner to be extremely pushy. Food wasn’t worth the asking price. We were a Party of 6. All felt the same. Won’t go again.

This is great old school traditional pub. Lovely greeting as soon as we arrived outside in the car park, especially for our chocolate labrador Zac! We had one of Wayne's (exec chef) steak and ale pie, mash and veg and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend, and dog friendly too.

Great place to eat a pub meal. Large portions.

Went for mothers days. Can not fault the food at all. Was lovely. Hot...plenty of it and very tasty. But not sure if it was due to mother's day or not, and trying to accommodate more families....but it felt like we had been sat in the village hall....right next to stacked chairs and where the D.J normally sets up. Was cold in the room untill we warmed up a little after eating. Myself and my partner arrived before my mum and other family. So when asked who's name it was under and this was given and my mum mentioned 1 was missing.....and before she has time to explain...what I belive was the female owner sat at the bar snapped 'wish you had rang and told us, you should have called and made us aware' 1 I had already told the lovely young lady that seated ys we were missing one due the mother in-law being rushed in to hospital suddenly....2 my first thought was not to call you but to make sure she was OK before travelling out. And if I had to lose that but of deposit then so be it....which you did charge me. Wonderful food lovely young staff...just a shame about how mum was spoken to when she first arrived by the female owner and the sitting arrangement .

Lovely walk from Newent Centre, friendly staff and nice country pub food, chips friendly and plenty of space. A must try is the Lillies Cider, Mango was our favourite but over space of a week tried several of them 👍 we really liked it here and would certainly recommend!

Work Christmas do, Had a few games of skittles followed by excellent Christmas meal. I had Turkey, followed by Christmas pudding. Generous portions well cooked. Delicious. Served by attentive and pleasant waiting staff.

Been here a few times. It wasn't the best this time but it was quiz night and they accommodated us.

Absolutely dreadful. Not at all welcoming to people other than the locals. Walked in and my father was straight away targeted by one of the owners. Got seated at our table to find all the prices being completely different to what we had seen online. VERY expensive drinks (non-alcoholic too). Food arrived swimming in grease. The cheesy garlic bread was COVERED in grease and was all soggy from the amount of cheese chucked on top. Charged for extras that we did not even have. To top it all off, another owner (female) snatched the money out of my fathers hands, got close up into his face and shouted "DONT COME BACK" after he refused to pay for items we had not received. Thankfully we do not plan on returning anyway due to lack of respect and horrible food

Stayed here as a pub stop off in the camper for one night on 22nd September. Great pub!! Lovely friendly staff and locals, made us feel very comfortable from the start. Our dogs were made very welcome too. Food was delicious and big portions. Both the food and drinks were very reasonable priced. Would totally recommend going there!

We had very tasty food, sweet and sour followed by sticky toffee pudding . Good quality foos and well sized portions. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. I hope to vist again. God Bless.

Two nights stay in our camper van on site at this fantastic Pub, we will definitely be returning!!! From the second we walked in we were greeted with friendly staff and an amazing classic pub vibe. The food and drinks were top notch and very reasonably priced. If staying in a camper I suggest call ahead and book a table for food because it seems to book up quickly which is always a good sign. Thanks again to the Kings Arms For a Fantastic weekend 👌

Been in Newent since Jan and ate here approx twenty times I’ve been working my way through the changing menu and every meal is excellent reasonably priced best pub food I’ve had definitely worth a visit.

Go on a sunday for the Sunday lunch high quality cuts of meats that will melt in your mouth. I tend to go for the Salt Marsh Lamb because that's the best option for the roast because it is a good price for the quality it is. Brilliant service, the staff are friendly and will serve you after a couple minutes after your table. Make sure to book a table in advance because this Sunday Lunch is an award winning sunday lunch.

Great mal out with an extensive menu and specials board. Food was tasty and hot, well presented. Atmosphere lovely and the staff interacted really well with the baby.

I love this pub! My husband and I and family stayed in Newent in 2019, visiting from Canada, to visit my family in the UK. Wayne made my husband the best steak & kidney pudding he’s ever had, we ate here almost every night and the food was fantastic, and prices really reasonable. I’m visiting family again, we went to this pub today and it was fantastic! I really can’t say enough positive comments about this place!! Food is amazing!!

Overnight stay in the car park - quiet and safe - CCTV cameras positioned around the place. Good choice of beer especially ciders. Two meals purchased and really enjoyed - good portion sizes. £50 spent on 5 pints and 2 meals - reasonable.

The food is fantastic! 5 of us have eaten here a couple of times now both from the regular menu and the specials board and the food is tasty, hot and plentiful. It is always welcoming too with lovely staff and great 80s music on in the background. This is our new local.

Food was ok nothing you couldn't get from a supermarket and put in oven barmaid was friendly drinks were overpriced coke was flat and they need to buy some fly spray as I spent half the time trying to stop them landing on my food is not on my list to return
