Stopped off on a recent Sunday afternoon to watch some great live music and have some food. The quality of service was fantastic and the pub was well run. The food was excellent and promptly served. A great afternoon was had by all and will definitely visit again in the near future.

Nice people who work there, nice cook, dogs are welcome, if I can I will come there more often! I didn't sleep there, but there is plenty of parking space, a dog pasture and an enclosed courtyard.

Great wee rural pub. Thoroughly enjoyed our food. Tried another pub locally first and was very disappointed. This is the place to be for warm home made food.

Stopover with 2 other motohomes. Great beer and food. Clean pub. Outdoor loos kept very clean. Nice seating area near where park as well as lovely beer garden. Very welcoming and friendly landlady and staff. Hopefully go again when in area.

The Sunday roast was fantastic great flavours brilliant service can't do enough for you, this is the second time we have been here, exactly the same as the first time highly recommended, please even if your just passing pop in try the food I'll guarantee you'll be back,music on a Sunday afternoon as well for all ages

Driving by and thought we would give it a try. Very friendly staff welcomed us. We sat outside and ordered a small Sunday roast. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation and the food had clearly been freshly made and tasted home cooked. I had the beef and my wife had the lamb. To finish we had the sticky toffee pudding which again tasted home made. Excellent meal and would revisit.

Stayed in our camper in carpark, lovely staff they are fine for you to stay if eating or drinking, didn't book just asked when arrived there is a overflow layby also if its busy

It is a very family friendly place with a playground. The food is very good and the price is normal. Lots of home made options and gluten free meals. Staff are kind and friendly.

Fantastic place for Sunday lunch.

We didn't stay here but were looking for a pub to meet up with relatives and we found what we were looking for. Friendly reception on arrival and given varied menus to suit every family's need. There's a mini menu for those who want a smaller meal. They even provide a doggy treat. Never been in a pub that's so anxious to please. Looking forward to our next visit.

Great friendly service and lovely food

We popped in of the m50 hungry and looking for somewhere to eat after a very long drive. We immediately seen the sign for the rose & crown bar and restaurant and followed the directions. We were welcomed by friendly staff each one of them went above and beyond for us. The food was cooked fresh, delicious and portion size was good. We will definitely be returning if passing again in the future. Thankyou.

I wanted to leave this unrated. However, I couldn't in order to be able to leave this review. Food: tasty, good vegan options, price was OK for a country pub. All homemade food. Atmosphere: Well, at first, all good. And then, as we just started our meal one of the bar staff was talking to a couple, very loudly, expressing some very racist comments, and blaming certain religions and ethnicity groups for the state of England. Really made us uncomfortable. What we heard we found extremely upsetting, and it really did ruin the visit. I am fully understanding of people having their own views/opinions, and I do not expect everyone to share my opinions. However, some of the statements made were truly disturbing and quite horrific bold statements to make. I will not, however, tarnish the whole staff that were on as there were helpful friendly staff. It has saddened me to be making a review like this. However, It is something I could not ignore. Due to this, I will not be returning here.

Fabulous place to eat and drink. Rarely do you find somewhere that ticks every box. Great food, Comprehensive menu, Great service and brilliant value. Steak cooked to perfection and staff were more than happy to accommodate our two labradors. Thankyou all, keep up the good work.

Well what a place . we stayed in our camper overnight so we could enjoy the live music on Sunday afternoon(which incredibly was free) we had a meal Saturday night which was home cooked pizzas (build your own ) and Sunday we had the most tremendous roast dinner. Staff were brilliant welcoming happy and attentive without overdoing it . Just couldn’t fault it at all will definitely be back well done all and good to see Texas tick fever again perfect weekend

Stayed here for two days and the rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and you get plenty of it. Great staff, very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Literally came off M50 J2, and saw a sign for this little hidden gem. We had an awesome, home cooked, delicious meal. Privately owned place, met the ‘cook’ her words not mine, had a lovely chat with her, her name is Ros… We will definitely be back, simply lovely, everything about it .

Arrived this morning for breakfast a party of about 12 of us after visiting our son for the weekend, nothing was too much trouble excellent quality breakfast & staff amazing can't wait to return thank you very much we are so grateful 😀 five stars if we could give it 6 we would ❤️

Stopped here last night 16/08/2023 on the motorbike. Nice big carpark. Staff friendly and welcoming and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Food was really nice and hot and good amount definitely value for money. Toilets nice and clean. They do have live music there every Sunday. This pub is situated between Gloucester, Newent, Upton Upon Severn and Tewkesbury the views and scenery is lovely which ever way you go either on Motorbike or in the Car. Will definitely go again and already thinking about the live music 🎶

Stopped over on way to Wales in our motorhome. Let us stay in the carpark. Had really nice food and drink. Kids enjoyed the garden. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Couldn't recommend enough!

Great country pub with fab home made food!!

Amazing food great atmosphere lovely little old skool village inn. Only two issues you have to share the bathrooms their is two which makes it easier if someone is in one of them otherwise the location isnt near a lot but not a real issue I would stay here again if down there again.

Great overnight stop in our camper van. Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Had a lovely meal. Water and toilets available. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to park overnight in a camper.

Lovely smile, great drinks on tap, stayed there with our camping car for the night, and we really felt welcomed. Thank you Rose, and thanks also to your night-shift waitress for her helpfulness.

Food was pretty good, nothing fancy, could've been a better range of options, it was a shame there was no roast except on sunday but the fish chips I had were very tasty, and the local ale I had was excellent.

Loved it, friendly locals, well kept beer with handy location, just off M50. Roz is the perfect host, many more visits in the future from me.

Lovely place to stop for drink, or even stay the night - as we did (in our campervan). The homemade ice cream was delicious!

Fantastic stay at the Rose & Crown, we were made to feel really welcome and the breakfast was unbelievable, worth staying just for that. Definitely stay there again.

Visited this pub & had lovely, hot buffet food, which was delicious. They'd even done fresh cod pieces in batter, with a side of tartare sauce, as had it delivered this morning - can't get fresher than that!! Highly recommended.

Annual meet up with friends at Christmas time. We've been going there for several years. We book the Green Room so the kids are trapped in and we don't disturb anyone. The food and service has always been great and we'll be going back again next Christmas. It's become our midway meeting point for friends and family in South Wales and The Midlands.

Very busy pub with excellent landlords who are always keeping the pub active and lively. Great Wye valley beer.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Friendly, attentive staff, very pleasant surroundings indoors and out. The owners couldn't be more accommodating and friendly. The new covered outside space (October '22) is a marvellous addition, making a great venue for bands, events and skittles. My band had a great Hallowe'en gig there.

We stopped in for pub food. Best burger by far. We call in as many local pubs as possible on our tour of the forest of Dean. Would have liked to try their home made ice cream, but was too full, and, it wouldn't have made the 25min drive back to our cottage. Pub was quiet when I went, staff nice and friendly. Would recommend.

Excellent service. Excellence atmosphere. Regardless of dietary requirements they made it work and taste great. As normally most places I go I always feel the odd one that could only order a side of salad. Here I could order a bang up lovely meal. 5 stars well earned.

A quiet afternoon, had the so called small plate, ham egg and chips. Top quality carved ham, nice egg and chunky chips. Well worth it, even our dog in the garden was given a biscuit.

Nice looking pub, food was really good and the bar selection was decent. But the bar service was a little slower than I would have expected. Other than that a decent pub, I'd go back again

Stopped off after a long walk and ending up having the best roast we have had to a LONG time. Proper home cooked food made with love, which you could taste! It was a bit of a wait for the food but worth every second. Homemade desserts were also incredible. Live music added to the already lovely atmosphere. We can’t wait for our next visit.

Wonderful meal with my family & friends at the Rose & Crown. My friend, Claire McNulty, took us there telling us it was really good. She wasn’t wrong. Excellent service and very tasty food. The landlady Ros was very welcoming. There was a live band and we had a wonderful afternoon. Would highly recommend.

Had family to visit last Sunday and all had lunch here. Great choice of food for all ages so something for everyone. All food freshly cooked and everything was great including one gluten free. Very friendly and efficient staff. Good value for money and great atmosphere. Will visit again.

Called in recently with 2 friends for lunch. Disappointing, not doing food. Know to go elsewhere next time.

A warm welcome, good pub food menu, all cooked to order so be prepared to wait. And well worth it. Have only sampled the fish, chips, and mushy peas. On offer were sweet potato fries, one of the five a day. Very good indeed. Fish with flavour. The lasagna was also good. Though chips as well is, for me too many carbs and the garlic bread only added to the total. Lots of parking and good disabled access. Well placed on the A417, not too far out, worth a visit.

Recently held my baby shower in the Green Room. Fantastic location, lovely lawn area with a secure garden. Great buffet food and a special lemon cake which tasted amazing!

Wow, what an amazing afternoon, we went with 3 kids and grandparents, no one was disappointed (even our 2 fussy eating kids).. can tell everything was Home made, even the horseradish and mint sauce... don't even get me started on how lush the home made ice creams and puddings were.. staff were friendly, welcoming and very attentive.. Was lovely to go when the sun was out and the little ones were able to run and play in the secure garden with swings. We will be going back, thank you all xxx

Called in at this pub on the way home from taking our son to catch his train home.What a wonderfull welcome We had not booked a table but they found room for us.the food well you certainly would not go hungry and it was a very high standard. The staff were very very friendly the service was excellent and friendly banter between us although we had never been in the pub before. Will we go back most definitely and would recommend this to our friends.
