The best restaurants in Woodbury and Lympstone East Devon South West

Locals on a walk looking for a cuppa If I was to sum up our visit today in one word it would be…. Ansum ( Devon for lovey or proper job for those who are not from these parts. ) Excellent cheese scone, dog friendly, spotlessly clean and happy staff. We will be back.

Recommended here by friends in the H&C trade. Modest late September visit just before end of Season. Lovely Staff, Menu, Service and Atmos. Highly recommended.

Decent food service and early at 1pm...nice friendly service and proper pub food. Portion sizes were OK, but decent food and nice wood burner and room.... Fairly expensive

Went here for a special birthday meal. The starters were good and the roast dinner was fantastic and tasty and it was nice to have a choice of a large or small place (the small plate was plenty big enough). Recommend the cauliflower cheese! Attentive staff and lovely ambience. Good drink quality. So happy with our visit as perfect in every way.

We returned here for the umpteenth year running for the first night of our holiday and will continue to do so as it doesn't disappoint. Our family group now includes two infants under 2, but this doesn't faze the staff who made all of us welcome as always. The Old Alley Restaurant is ideal for families/groups, being spacious and with easy access to facilities. All the meals were greatly enjoyed, as was the draft beer. They also make a great Irish coffee.

We celebrated our daughter's 5th birthday party today at Amazing Grazing. It was incredible- marquee set up with tables; smaller marquee with tuff trays of games; whole paddock with tonnes of activities from building to tyre rolling to a miniature flower shop; goat, pig and alpaca supervised feeding. Superb from start to finish. Fantastic value for money and Taro was so helpful right from booking to the day itself making sure it was the best experience for our little girl and her friends.

Such a lovely, friendly welcome from the new owner. Went in looking for food but they weren't yet set up so offered us samples from the new menu instead and have to say the food was fantastic. An excellent choice of good quality drinks and just what you would expect from a local village pub. We wish the new owners nothing but success for their new venture as they deserve it and can see them be inundated once the food starts up properly so watch this space!

This hotel sells itself as charming and old-world. It's actually drab and dismal. My room was like a student hostel but worse, because nothing worked. The shower was broken, with missing bits that made it hard to use. The top of the cold tap in the basin was missing. The wifi didn't work. The radiator didn't work. Fixed to the wall was an unworking, broken hairdrier. Also fixed to the wall, and hanging down by its flex, was the abandoned hotplate for an electric kettle, minus the kettle. Breakfast was poor and mean (the hotel had clearly put much thought into how it could provide as a little as possible for the price - which was extra to the room charge). And the final straw was the morning I left. Arrangements had been made for a late checkout at 1pm (which cost more). I went out, returning at 12.15pm to find all my things had been removed from the room. The hotel has since agreed to refund the cost of my stay to the Exeter-based festival that was paying for it. But this doesn't take away from the fact that the place is a miserable dump. And the festival tells me it will never use the White Hart again.

Was alright food but wasn’t the best roast could of done with roast Carrots and more roasted potato’s was a nice atmosphere and was gd service

Very quiet Wednesday night ruined for them by 13 drunk blokes. In fairness we did sort of behave and the landlady looked after us really well

I’ve been here many times before and have enjoyed it. We went there for the Sunday roast. The staff were very nice, the service good and it was busy. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meal. I had the beef it was cold and chewy, I left most of it. The cauliflower cheese clearly had been sat around, it was hard and the cheese sauce was like water. Again the vegetables were old, mixed up in a dish and lacked appeal. We are very lucky to have so many great places to eat in and around Exeter, I’m sorry to say we won’t be back to the Swan any time soon or recommending their Sunday roast.

Cheap ingredients, bland and well overpriced. What the hell happened to the old style pizzas with the decent bacon etc? Bloody awful. I never had a problem with you guys for many many years. Always ordered from you every since I was young. Even my parents ordered from you. I will not be ordering from you again!
