Locals on a walk looking for a cuppa If I was to sum up our visit today in one word it would be…. Ansum ( Devon for lovey or proper job for those who are not from these parts. ) Excellent cheese scone, dog friendly, spotlessly clean and happy staff. We will be back.

Visited a few times as local to the area. Very hit and miss. Previously I have been served by the lovely young brunette lady with tattoos and the blonde lady on multiple occasions, we’ve always had wonderful coffee, cake, sausage and bacon baps and brilliant customer service. Atmosphere was welcoming and felt like a lovely little local cafe, staff were chatty and seemed to know other customers and was overall a great experience, a close knit little village meeting space, we thought! How lovely. Decided to visit again last week for breakfast as we assumed it would be the same experience. However, I must say it was a big disappointment. Bacon and sausage baps were definitely microwaved and bacon was rock hard, bread seemed defrosted in microwave as it was warm on the outside but stone cold in the middle. Coffee was burning hot. The older lady with grey hair served us most recently. We haven’t been served by her in the past but she was extremely rude and seemed like she didn’t want to be there, very huffy and puffy and didn’t seem to understand other customer’s basic requests when ordering. She also kept the lights off and it was very dark inside, which was strange. Very upset as I really loved visiting and being greeted by the staff. Not sure if I’ll return again as I feel the quality of service has gone downhill and we didn’t feel welcome. I hope they were just having an off day as I’ve had such nice experiences at the tea room previously.

My wife and I enjoyed one of the best cappuccinos we’ve had in ages in a very peaceful and pleasant setting - nice atmosphere, rapid service, and some delicious looking cakes and pastries on display. On previous occasions we’ve enjoyed some equally excellent ice creams.

A very nice fish and chip lunch. Small intimate friendly place to eat. I’m told the fish is fresh and battered on site. Thank you.

Lots of vegan options to choose from. Had fishless and chips, huge portion size, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Even though I was full, having vegan dessert options didn't stop me! Coconut and ginger tart with vegan ice cream, delicious. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Can take dogs if kept under the table. The cafe is at the top of town away from the sea front but absolutely well worth the visit!
