Good food. Staff were really helpful especially kayleigh, fast service will be coming back again for sure. Everyone seems very happy

There was a horribly behaved and annoying woman taking orders in the bar, she treated us with very rude manners. We had to wait almost 2 hours for the food...which wasn't good at all... This a place everyone should avoid... And that woman has to be placed in hands of the social services. They need to provide staff training, otherwise the bussiness would go into bankruptcy!

Stayed 6 nights. Great location very near to city centre and the quayside. Good car park. Room clean and comfortable, quiet location. Friendly staff - Kayleigh was always pleasant and helpful. Breakfast arrangements were confusing and not customer friendly. Pricing policy needs to be improved, making clear of what is included in the breakfast or not - when you pay upfront for a cooked breakfast. Example coffee, tea, cereals and yoghurt were not included. Also issues with having to chase up clean towels on first two days after requesting this as advised by posters around the hotel. Generally hotel was good and I would definitely consider staying again in the future.

Wonderful dining experience! We used the 30% off vouchers to try some new dishes on the menu we never had before. The food was cooked to perfection, the team were very welcoming and accommodating do my partner being gluten free. Lovely charm to the building, next time we will have to try the rooms

This charming and atmospheric old English Inns serves up an equally hot outstanding fresh breakfast. The full works was very well presented by chef and at extremely reasonably prices. My host Julie from Birmingham still kept her endearing friendly accent. Well done to all.

El hotel y pub White Hart es muy antiguo y peculiar. Nos alojamos en el cuarto piso y, aunque a la decoración le vendría bien una capa de pintura refrescante, estaba muy limpia y era cómoda.El personal del pub en particular fue muy amable y tuvimos algunas charlas encantadoras con ellos. Nos encantó el jardín secreto de la cerveza y fue un gran lugar para relajarse.Recomendaría quedarse aquí siempre y cuando no esté buscando algo moderno y de alta gama.

Nos alojamos en The White Hart por 2 noches en una de las modernas habitaciones. La habitación era muy espaciosa, con un gran baño, una cómoda cama tamaño king y bien equipada. Nuestra habitación, que daba al aparcamiento gratuito para los residentes, estaba en el cuarto piso, pero afortunadamente hay un ascensor. Debido a Covid, los desayunos no estaban disponibles, pero sí cenamos, que eran muy buenos. El hotel tiene una ubicación céntrica entre la Catedral y Quay, con muchos bares y restaurantes cerca. Desafortunadamente, varios estaban cerrados o en horario restringido debido a Covid. El edificio principal y el pub datan del siglo XIV, con muchas habitaciones y diferentes niveles. The price of the food is very reasonable and even cheap ... But I just payed £16 for two Gins , which is extreme for Exeter prices , not to mention the toilets are terrible .

Staff very helpful and amenable. Food very good. Rooms are tired looking but clean. Breakfast area bit grubby and tables not cleared/cleaned quickly or properly. Lock on door from inside not working on any rooms apparently as another couple in our party woke to find a member of staff in their room during the night which definitely poses questions.

We have stayed here a few times and love it. Central location and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Rooms are spotless and the food in the restaurant is great. If your looking for a relaxing weekend away the would definatly recommend.

Visitamos Exeter al menos dos veces al año y siempre nos quedamos en este hotel. Sí, es un edificio antiguo y quizás cosméticamente un poco cansado en algunas áreas, pero siempre parece que se está llevando a cabo una renovación / actualización. Las habitaciones son limpias, cómodas y cálidas. Los desayunos son realmente buenos con muchas opciones. Booked a single room. Overlooked the car park very quiet had a good nights sleep. Bonus was free parking. Receptionist was very helpful and welcoming.Great location as a couple of minutes walk away from the quayside where there are plenty of coffee shops, and very close to the shopping centre. Had dinner one night at the hotel, food good for the price and buzzing atmosphere but let down by very rude waitress. Minor niggle so would return.

I'm not going to be visiting again, that's put my right off, if they can't sort that which looks like it's needed attention for a while, in broad day light to the customers, it makes me wonder what they are also overlooking behind closed doors.

Food not bad ,tasty reasonably priced, but upset about toilets, I use the disabled ones, ,no toilet roll holder just left on top of cisten, so difficult to get to and no where to dry hands,no towels or machine,so had to dry hands in toilet roll,very poor

Breath of fresh air, on a long holiday and have stayed at numerous hotels in 7 different countries and this was the best. Lift so you didnt have to carry your bags upstairs, big room, extra large bathroom, breakfast to die for and ample parking for cars (which is very important as we have a hire car and are not familiar with paybyphone). Not too expensive to stay here and go location to the main town of exeter, short 5 min walk to the cathedral and guildhall. 20mins or less to Topsham. Restraurant for breakfast is full of character and comfort. No issues and would gladly stay here again if back in the UK.

Stayed here for 1 night on the to Cornwall, it was a lovely find .Originally built in the 16th century so has lots of quirky features. Room was excellent, four poster bed & a large bathroom with stand alone bath & his & hers sinks . The food wasn’t brilliant, standard pub food , but was sufficient for our neeeds . Excellent location for Exeter city centre.

I've stayed here a few times and unfortunately, over the last few years there have been a few cut backs, for example; breakfast used to be included but is no longer. Also, despite providing a check in time our room wasn't ready (not for the first time), I understand they were understaffed but an offer of a complementary coffee/drink while we waited would have been appreciated, instead we had to spend money in the coffee shop opposite to kill some time. Despite this we enjoyed our stay, the location of the hotel is great and free parking for hotel guests in provided, the beds are very comfy and the beer garden is a little gem.

We booked 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. We chose this hotel as it is central, has its own car park, and there is a lift. We were on the 4th floor with lovely views over the city and up to the cathedral.UInfortunately, it was too steep to go down to the quay - we're both in our eighties - but it as an easy walk up to the cathedral, and we were able to wander around the city centre easily. There are plenty of seats everywhere. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Visited with a friend for her birthday treat and had lunch in the lovely secluded sunny garden. Staff, as always, were polite and friendly and our waitress was very attentive.The meals were delicious and both the veggie lasagna and halloumi and chips were nice and hot.We had a really nice lunch and would thoroughly recommend a visit to this lovely characterful pub.Keep up the good work guys.

We stayed for a night to attend a gig at the Phoenix venue around 10mins walk away. Centrally located for all the shops and amenities. Free car park (if staying at hotel) right next to hotel, which seemed secure and had spaces easily available. Check-in was swift and friendly and all the staff were lovely to speak too. The hotel and pub had loads of character and we found it a nice place to spend some time and have a few drinks. We had the £5 burgers for dinner as it was Friday, and they we're decent and big enough to fill up before a night out. We paid for breakfast the next day (£6.95 for full english and unlimited continental and juice/hot drinks) and it was really lovely. We would stay again 100%.

Fui a almorzar en el White Heart, mi consejo es que no te molestes. La comida no era normal, pero deficiente. El pescado maltratado había sido maltratado, pero desafortunadamente demasiado tiempo en el aceite que probablemente había visto días mejores. Shared a Sunday lunch here with friends earlier this year but not impressed. The food was at best ok, but it was nowhere near warm enough and soon became cold. Many better places locally for this type of meal.

We visited for dinner on a Saturday night in Exeter and really enjoyed ourselves. Food was more diverse than usual pub food, and we had plenty to choose from. We tried jackfruit nachos, burgers, and a chicken and waffle dish. While the food was alright to good, we enjoyed the drinks, friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. A great place to spend a restful, social evening.

My first visit here was a little painful due to a noisy neighbour but this time I’m in a lovely room which is very quiet. The staff here make this hotel nothing is too much trouble they are a pretty young team and are very friendly, chatty and cannot do enough to help - thank you the food here is very good value and very yummy

Came here for a works conference in one of the events rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Small car park, if staying in hotel you will need to put reg number in machine in reception. Clean and tidy. We had a buffet for lunch the food was fantastic, lots to choose from. Would love to come here another time to have a meal.

I dropped in for a drink and while the outside of the building is interesting, the inside is stunning. Lots of wood, small alcoves, interesting decorating and a real sense of history. The beer was pretty good as well.

Been coming here since I was a kid and have always loved the atmosphere. The setting is fabulous in the restaurant and the selection of ales and drinks is always good. The only downside is that since the hotel stopped being an independent, the menu now is generic. My food was disappointing - gammon steak - the meat was fine but the accompanying jacket potato had obviously simply been microwaved as opposed to being microwaved and then finished in an oven. The sides of vegetables were measly too.The staff however are friendly and prompt.

My partner and I stayed one night and the receptionist upon arrival was so friendly and helpful. We arrived at 8.40ish so rushed upstairs to drop our bags off as dinner finished at 9pm. The room was clean and adequate for a nights stay. We rushed to the bar restaurant but when ordering was told it would be a 45 min wait. However, Within 10 mins our food arrived? Worst food I've had in a while. Pie was hard, mash dry and tasted like smash and the gravy gloopy. My partners gammon was rubbery but we were so hungry as our journey to Exeter had been over 5 hours we just ate it and went up to bed. The food and drink was also expensive for what was served. The next day we came out only to see a wetherspoons directory opposite. Wish we had noticed that the night before. The best part if this stay was the friendly receptionist without her being there, my rating would have been lower. If you just need 1 night or are there for work it's ok but go out for food

It was a culinary miracle to be able to remove from what should be quite tasty cooked breakfast ingredients, every last vestige of flavour. Hunger forced us to ingest around a quarter of the plate before our taste buds manfully fought back and said ‘please no more’! Luckily it wasn’t expensive but still double the price of Wetherspoons over the road.

Stayed in room 19 at the front of the hotel, room was perfectly adequate, good size bed, plenty of storage, good size bathroom with a great shower, and good facilities. My only room gripe is the grout in the shower needs a good clean up. The hotel itself has a lot of character, it is managed by a great bunch of staff who were all friendly, helpful and attentive and are a real credit to this hotel, the bar was a great place to chill and relax and had a good selection of beers at a great price, the food in the bar was also of a good standard, the breakfast included in the price was fantastic, continental, endless coffee tea and juices, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, toast, and a full English if you still had room. Yes you are not going to get 5 star accommodation at the White Hart but what you will get is great value for money that other establishments in this price range cannot offer. Have stayed here a few times but this was my first time trying an evening meal. The extensive menu was typical bar food with average prices, and I chose a burger with curly fries which was pretty good - I would have no problem ordering one on another visit. The service was friendly, akin to a village pub rather than city centre place, though the décor was slightly tired. Well it's a very old pub! So definitely not for the hipster brigade or a date, though perfectly and comfortingly average!

Stayed here acouple of years ago and corners seem to have been cut since then. Room rates not expensive. The accommodation is quiet tired. Rooms are clean especially bathrooms. but corridors and staircases not so. Pub / Bar staff friendly. Breakfast now mediocre.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and our evening meal and breakfast were both very good. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they were quick to offer every kind of assistance including local knowledge and advice.

The White Hart is an old, old pub. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable. The food is typical pub food. However it is really central in Exeter being only 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral and the main street. Lots of good restaurants and attractions real close. Good value for money.

Questo ristorante, annesso all'omonimo hotel offre un'ottima cucina casalinga tradizionale e una sostanziosa colazione all'inglese con ingredienti locali. Ottime anche le birre prodotte nei birrifici di Wiveliscombe. Prezzo ottimo.

Table for 5 in bar area was noisy and hard to here the conversation. Compounded by a noisy group and loud bad language. Staff took no action to deal with this which went on for 30 min. Food was OK nothing special. Ordered house salad which didn't turn up when asked was told we didn't order one. The waitress brought the salad and we went charged for it. Dessert arrived with no cutlery some was brought and waitress said I'll get the rest we waited and only when she walked past us was here memory jogged to bring the rest staff were abrupt and bar staff didn't seem to know what they had to serve. Also ran out of real ale. Not cheap drinks.

Rooms facing the streets were hot and noisy during the night. Breakfast was even worst. We waited 40 mins for food to come when there were only a few of us in the restaurant. And after all, food arrived still frozen in the middle. Really can not believe it. Worst place I stay in Exeter so far.

Tomamos unas copas en el jardín secreto una noche en un gran grupo y es un buen lugar para eso, - personal muy amable del bar - como resultado de beber allí, volvimos para el desayuno al día siguiente y tomamos un desayuno con una muy buena relación calidad-precio - menú variado y fácil de encontrar algo que a uno le gustaría, en lugar del omnipresente inglés completo.

Reservamos la sala de actos en The White Hart para mi fiesta de cumpleaños 80 de papá. Los propietarios no podrían haber sido más serviciales y atentos a nuestras necesidades. Nos proporcionaron un delicioso buffet con té y café. También jarras de agua helada ya que era un día caluroso. Los jardines eran hermosos para sentarse y todo el personal era muy servicial. Realmente podríamos relajarnos y hacer un uso completo de las instalaciones. Definitivamente estaremos usando White Hart nuevamente si tenemos otra ocasión familiar. Fue un día exitoso y muy buena relación calidad-precio. ¡Muchas gracias!

Llamado aquí unas cuantas veces para tomar algo durante nuestra estancia en Exeter durante la Pascua, notamos que las comidas se entregaban a las mesas, y parecían muy atractivas, tanto que decidimos comer aquí en nuestra última noche. La comida fue increíble y se sirvió con pasión. el ambiente era excelente y un personaje interesante en esta antigua posada.

Me alegra ver este pub volver a abrir ya que nos quedamos en la zona cada año y nos lo perdimos. Comimos aquí un sábado por la noche y tuvimos una comida agradable. La comida era tarifa estándar de pub, abundante y bien cocinada. La cerveza es un extra (Nutria). El servicio podría haber sido mejor: un poco lento y no hay duda de si queríamos un postre, a pesar de que el pub no está especialmente ocupado.

Wonderful staff could not do enough for us. Food was good. Bed was comfortable, room was small but this was not a problem for us. Beware the pub is haunted.

My eldery father and I stayed here. What a lovely place. Staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was good. Very close to eveything too. Easy to find . Good clean roons. Wi fi free and fast.

This is a very nice and reasonable hotel in central and convenient location. Comfortable rooms and nice breakfasts with very pleasant staff. Would like to return.

Un muy buen limpio y ordenado pub bastante grande en su interior, distribuidas en varios niveles, las comidas muy buenas, también es un hotel, las habitaciones bien equipadas, cómodas y limpias, el desayuno es muy bueno, preparándote para el día. Aparcamiento gratuito en el hotel, muy céntrico.

El lugar era nuevo, pero nos dijeron que había sido reformado, 6 años atrás. Fuimos a comer y la comida que nos sirvieron rápidamente, era fresco y muy sabroso. Buenas cervezas. Estaba bastante concurrido en la estación lluviosa el almuerzo y un buen ambiente.

Hotel muy agradable, las habitaciones son cómodas y el personal muy agradable y servicial y un desayuno estupendo. El bar/restaurante es muy bueno ale valor está bien cuidado, un 20% de descuento en comida para aquellos que se alojen en el hotel, buena relación calidad-precio los Miércoles curry y una pinta de menos de £8.00.

Went to exeter to visit cathedral, quay, and the town , stayed one night at the White Hart, very comfortable rooms, friendly staff, good food, value for money would recommend this hotel.

Nos alojamos en el hotel sólo por una noche de camino a Cornwall y fue una gran escala. Está en el centro de la ciudad, ofrece parking vigilado gratuito y las habitaciones son muy espaciosos para lo que parece desde fuera a ser un hotel pequeño. El desayuno era genial, el personal muy amable y con mucha variedad. Estoy seguro de que en general la comida en el restaurante es bastante bueno, pero nos quedamos en un domingo cuando fue al asador. Si ir por un domingo carvery aproximadamente a las 5 de la tarde no va a ser genial, así que no lo harían otra vez, pero no me gustaría poner cualquiera de comer aquí en cualquier otro momento como El White Hart es un lugar fantástico y volveremos.

Pasamos tres días en el hotel y aperitivos y tentempiés disfrutamos cada noche, desayuno todas las mañanas y cenamos una vez.

Four of us called on a busy Friday evening, managed to find a table, which moved about a little! floor or table not level. But this was more than compensated by the tasty food,(you order at the bar, had to pay up front as we were not staying there, not a problem) Food portions were generous,and at what we considered sensible prices, good choice on menu. So we had a lovely evening and would return when next in Exeter.

We ate here on a Saturday Night and were pleasantly surprised to find Table Service available instead of having to trek to the Bar to Order Food and Drinks. Much more Professional. We had Starters of Pork and Chorizo Taquitos followed by a Monster 20 ounce Gammon with Jacket Potato and the Boss had Chicken. All washed down with a couple of Beers and Glass of Wine. Food and Service were top notch and all in all great value.

Went here for a early evening meal to enjoy the 2 for £10 deal. I had steak and it was very very good. It has a nice olde pub charm about it. The service was very friendly and attentive.I guess they are competing with the whetherspoons opposite. For my money, I would go to the White Hart, since it is more authentic, and a whole lot more peaeful (at least when we were there it was).Highly recommended.

Well the first time I moved to Devon I stayed in this great hotel for three months and it was full I character and you knew it had history..... the service was individual and for a hotel it held quite a humorous and unique selection of staff ... Last nights return after twenty years was.... Well let's say really disappointing ...the offers of food were good on the menu to be fair and the prices were quite good for a city hotel and the beer was as always on top form with an Independent feel about it and I was gal to see Davy's Old Walllop still on tap after all this time I ordered the Brie with cider chunks and it was solid from the microwave I tried to use a steak knife to cut it and it only did my collegue had the nachos and also that was heated to death on a rusty tin bowl ( see photo) ... I complained and the waitress who was quite funny and laughed and then apologised but we all couldn't help but laugh ... It was quite shocking .. We would have walked but we paid for the Main meals which we hoped were better ... They were worse Im afraid I had steak pie from Tesco I think and again it was a frisbee top and unedible my friend had ham and eggs which was as dry as weekend old meat .. And we again all laughed ... It didn't cost us much and we took the cost on the chin ( well we had to it was unediible ) but what a shambles the chef and the management really need to review themselves and I think they would give themselves lower than the two stars we gave .... The sigh is quite literally false advertising

Called in for lunch with my wife. This was the first time we had been here for several years. One of the oldest bars in Exeter and quite charming. The staff were friendly and there is a good selection of ales. We opted for the 2 for £10 and were very surprised how good it was. I had the chicken curry which came with a chappati and nan bread very tasty. My wife had a lasagna which she enjoyed very good for a tenner. Our drinks were very reasonably priced but the there is a weatherspoons opposit. It was a good visit and now will call in more often.

The best thing about The White Hart is that it retains the atmosphere of a real English pub, the kind you would find all over England before the chains took them over.The standard of service is very good, the food tasty, and portions generous - more than acceptable given the price.

I hVe lived in Exeter for 17 years but never ventured into The White Hart in South Street Exeter,as the outside has never really appealed to me BUT YES it ,is really great in side staff are very friendly .The food is excellent two meals for £10 what a large portion for such great value .I will difinitely visit again and again
