Review for The Rose Tree, Bourton-on-the-Water I recently dined at The Rose Tree in Bourton-on-the-Water, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The squid starter was simply outstanding—beautifully presented, perfectly balanced flavors, and every element worked together harmoniously. For my main, I had the sea bass, which was cooked to perfection and completely boneless—a real treat. The portion sizes were generous, and even the garlic bread was incredible. The rest of my table enjoyed lamb shank, chicken, and pork, and every single person agreed it was one of the best meals they’d had. The desserts were equally impressive, rounding off the meal perfectly. The service was amazing, with friendly and welcoming staff who created a relaxed and private atmosphere. Despite the restaurant being small, it never felt cramped, and the staff’s knowledge of the menu and proactive approach to service was fantastic. I honestly couldn’t recommend The Rose Tree enough. Make sure to book in advance, as the restaurant is small, but trust me, it’s well worth it. An absolute gem!

Mediocre. Very small portions.and for that reason overpriced, dont think mash costs a lot and 11 (yes I counted) small / tiny pieces of gnocchi is a starter not a main (the greens in the dish were a bit slimy). Gnocchi dosnt cost a lot either...and I did say to the server that it was nice just not enough of it.

Absolute terrible place. Where to begin!!! Firstly the scones where dreadful they had this awful sour taste to them and the coffee is average at best. The Cornish pasty's where okay but when I asked them to warm it up their reply was "it's warm enough". Secondly the staff need to learn some manners! There's better places then this in Cotswolds, as I tour guide I would recommend going to hunters cake house better coffee/food and way nicer staff.

As a regular visitor to Smiths we have always had consistent and fantastic service. This includes when we’ve eaten at the mobile van at Park Fair, Great Tew. The quality of all ingredients and products are exceptional. Our favourite spot for burgers and we’ve tried a lot, from London to Cheltenham! The scotchy is a favourite, I like the heat so never too hot for me. Tots are also amazing. Really surprised to see some of the other reviews, if you want a great burger and you’re in the area this is a must try spot. Ps love the brothers founding story as well!

We came in October with a friend from America. We had cream teas, the scone was definitely not fresh for the day, but it was pleasant. My biggest issue was there was no baby change facilities. I was advised to leave the cafe and go and use the public toilets across the street. They have toilets upstairs but they were the size of a shoebox. Albeit, there was two stalls and two sinks. In this day and age, there really should be baby changing facilities. I had to change my baby back at the car, which meant we had to leave early. This is the reason for the 1 star.

I cannot be very harsh on giving 1 star, hence giving 3 stars. The food was simply great, so 5 star to the food. We 3 families went to the restaurant yesterday i.e. total 12 people around 4ish. I could see 2 tables were occupied and rest were not. The girl was simply struggling due to orders coming in, so she couldn't clean the tables. We were meaning to dine in but we were told to order only take away as it would take some time to clean it up. We could have easily understood that and would have happily waited but we were asked to leave the restaurant and order only take away. We were asked to come back after 15 minutes. We felt humiliated because after sometime, other customers were allowed to dine in. Our children asked the question why not us and we had no answer. Your food might be great but service wise, I am sorry to say, we were lead down. I would have never ordered a take away after what had happened but my kids wanted the pizza, so ordered for them. I understand, it could be a stress for a single person and she might be tired (she had enough energy to argue though) but we were happy to wait. Anyway, it was disappointing and thanks for ruining our mood.
