Delicious full English breakfast at The Plough on a blustery wet morning, most welcome and plenty of coffee. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were light and creamy. Dogs welcome. Local produce.

Quality of produce in the restaurant is excellent, but accommodation needs a bit of love and the manager made us feel like a bit of an inconvenience. Overall a good location to explore Bourton on the Water, but a bit more attention to the B&B guests and the cleanliness of the rooms would make a big difference.

The accommodation has a lot to be desired there's nowhere to put your clothes not even a case stand. There was no sugar and the coffee machine looked as if it had never been cleaned. The bed was so soft in the middle we ended up rolling together in the centre. If you spend more than a couple of minutes in the shower it becomes a paddling pool in danger of overflowing. On the upside the food was great well the food that you get offered there is no menu for breakfast (which is not served until after 9am) different servers offer different items after 2 days we discovered we could have had cereal. Also one of the lady servers was smelling of Alcohol and appeared to be hungover.

No car park. Nice village but parking can be intrusive to villagers. 1 person only serving, taking orders and bill settlement resulting in delays. Main course NOT SERVED HOT. Limited menu choice and one main course not available. Somewhat expensive considering previous comments. Coffee machine situated in midst of dining area, resulting in conversation at nearby tables difficult when in use. Wi Fi encrypted but available on password insertion. Ambience very pleasant but some attention needed for example rusty radiators. Nice food pleasantly presented and enjoyable but had it been hot would have been better still. At least there was modern Dyson hand driver available. Visit took place lunchtime mid week.

A steak house 'not a pub' we were told; but not all steaks were available and those that were of variable quality. No steak knives and empty condiments! Very little else on the menu other than fish and chips. Were kept waiting for a long time for food even though we had booked. A hidden gem that is 100% worth a visit. After approximately 500 restaurant steaks in my life, this was literally the best. After our delicious meal the chef took his time to show us all the cuts and spoke about how he goes about his craft. The Dexter beef (the owners cows are literally 500 yards away) is unreal. Farm to table at it’s finest. The service was excellent. Need i say any more.

Beautifully refinished country pub with nice selection of ales/lagers and menu from a local farm/butcher; heavy on the beef side (really beautiful cuts of meat from what we could tell) with a couple non-beef options. We got burgers - which were generous in size with nice side of chips but they were cooked well done (they explained they have to because of their food license) which isn't our cup of tea; just be prepared for a crispier burger if that's to your liking. Staff very kind and easygoing. Thanks!

Stayed here for 2 nights, in the King room, which was suitable for our needs and stocked with complimentary mineral water and the best coffee I've had in a long time! Breakfast was included and both mornings the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the Romanian waiter the first morning was wonderful. We had dinner there on one of the nights and I had a fish dish, but the grass fed beef comes from the owner's own farm, and he told us it's sustainable meat, and that he's passionate about the environment and trying to do his bit. We had a fantastic stay, a big thank you to all the staff!

Red alternative was cold. Asked for bbq sauce on side but meal still came with sauce spread all over. Attempted to overcharge us for one of the meals, twice. Still had nerve to charge 10% service charge. Absolutely no apologies from waitress or manager. Log burner shown radiating heat on web site not lit. Obviously reliant on their niche menu with local grown beef. No vegetarian choice and fish alternative was just tuna.

Stayed a couple of weeks ago, weird experience! Nice rooms, coffee maker in rooms, asked if we could have pods for them, one of the older members of staff said that she would sort it out but didn't bother to. Food menu very limited, they offer lots of steaks but many were sold out. Settled for rumps, one of the three much smaller than the other two, same price though. Fish cooked nice but over all expensive for what they offer. Next morning went to the dinning room for breakfast, as directed by staff the evening before. Could not find anyone about, eventually knocked on the kitchen door but the chef ran out the back door, thought it was rather odd. Waited a bit longer, saw the chef and again knocked on the door whereby he ran outside again! My husband ventured around the back to find him and said that our stay included breakfast and was told that there were no hotel staff about. We were on a tight schedule so had to leave without the other half of our bed and breakfast stay! We were categorically told that breakfast was between 9 and 10am, we left at 9:25 without any representative being available!

Stayed overnight after a day in very nearby Bourton on the Water. The road I took to reach the Inn was very narrow but had lots of places to tuck into to let others get past etc. Fab views. At the Inn I parked with ease on the road alongside other cars. Told beforehand there are no parking restrictions or street lamps so if like me you pop to your car later on take a torch as it's pitch black. If like me you star gaze pack your binocs. I wasn't disappointed. Nice outside patio. Really nice interior. Very charming and welcoming. My room was reached by an outside door in an attached building steps from the patio and bar, up some stairs. It was set up for 2 guests although there was just me. I was impressed with my room. Dinner and breakfast were very nice. Clearly quality produce and reasonable prices. Good service. Pub was lively in the evening but the bar was not open late "late" like some places. So nice and quiet. I did mention at check out that I had no toiletries in my room and the owner was genuinely apologetic for their oversight. I had my own so not major for me. All in all a very nice experience. My emails were answered very quickly!

I dined here with 5 friends recently, having heard the pub had re-opened with a a focus on my favourite meal - steak. What a disappointment! We ordered 5 fillets, they only had 3. We ordered 2 sirloins instead, they only had one. So a final rump was ordered. Not exactly a good start. By the way, the choices for the non steak lovers was essentially a fish - the social media advertised pork and vegetarian dishes were not on the menu. When the steaks finally arrived, they were cooked to the chef's liking, not as we had ordered. The rump in particular was all but raw and practically inedible - the dog enjoyed it though. They tried to over-charge us for wine - this was corrected when we noticed. The atmosphere was soulless - if the place had only re-opened a few days previously, I would have expected a few more diners - perhaps word had got round already about the food? Maybe things will improve - a supply of meat and a competent chef maybe? In the meantime, we will eat elsewhere.

Bedroom clean but other areas need attention including outside area We were informed in advance that the pub was closed for food on the day of our arrival but breakfast the next morning would be available. No cereal, yoghurt, fruit or marmalade for toast. Also no bacon or sausage as the manager had forgotten to order any in. I felt embarrassed for the waiter. However the chef managed to conjure up egg on toast with mushrooms and baked beans and he did an excellent job with what he had to work with So although we didn't leave hungry not what we expected so would not recommend. Great pub and the food was very nice… but they have a very limited (almost zero) vegetarian meals on the menu. I was told they can do a vegetarian roast dinner, but it turned out they just remove the meat so it’s a plate of veg and a Yorkshire pudding. When asked by staff what I thought of the meal, i told them it was nice but a bit disappointed by the lack of veggie options… I was then told that ‘vegetarian is a new thing’ and they are considering doing a nut roast in the future! Maybe I’m too much of a radical city guy to expect something fancy like a vegetable pie, nut roast or even a Linda McCarty sausage out in the sticks!?!? But saying that the meal was cooked lovely and the atmosphere in the pub was great and staff very friendly … would I return to this pub, Yes… it’s shame the menu let them down for my ‘quirky dietary’ requirements!

The food options are fantastic, and drink selection equally as inviting. Pouring down with rain. After waiting 20 minutes I was told I would have the next available table. I found an available table, then was asked to move as there were already customers waiting before me. Who knows how long they had been waiting. Booking is meaningless. Needs a new Manager who knows how to run a pub/restaurant. They obviously over book, or give booked tables away to walk in customers. Ruined our Sunday afternoon. Wont be back.

Not as good as our first visit. We stayed here for a second time as we had enjoyed our first visit so much but sadly it had gone downhill. Our bedroom door stuck so badly we could hardly get out. There were bits all over the carpet, no hot water as they had forgotten to turn it on and the bath had hairs in it. The breakfast portion was small. The previous visit we'd had two rashers of bacon, a sausage, two eggs, harsh brown, black pudding and baked beans. This time there was no harsh brown or black pudding and only one egg and one rasher of bacon. However, the evening meal i'm pleased to say was delicious. But as the room prices have gone up i'd expect better and a definitely a clean room. Would not return.

Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Middle of the Cotswolds... enough said 😍 Interior ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a cute little pub, nice and simple decor but a very warm and friendly vibe. And it's dog friendly!! Exterior ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Driving up to the pub it just appeared from nowhere. There is limited options for parking and the beer garden was quite small (although in the rain that didn't really matter) Service ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ We were served by the most chilled and friendly host imaginable, all evening he was just superb. His character really made for an enjoyable experience Food ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ So the quality of food cannot be complained about. We had... - Sharing boards to start which had nice cured meats, olives and bread, I would have enjoyed some oil or cheese just to finish the boards but overall they were good. - Venison, Chicken, Beef Burger and Steak for Mains and they were all spot on! 👌 cooked perfectly and full if flavour. - finished with cheese board, chocolate marquise and ice cream. The ice cream was a bit frozen (as in icy and crunchy in places) but the marquise was actually a slice of pure heaven. Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The prices are a touch on the pricey side for me, the food is amazing but £9.50 for the starters and cheese boards just felt steep. Also for the money I would have enjoyed a bit of salad or coleslaw with the burger. Steak with sauce almost touching £30 isn't the most extreme but it isn't great value either. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed the evening, we had great company, great food and great service. There are a few bits that could be improved but honestly I would do it all again in a heartbeat 💓

The Queen’s Head is just off the main square and we found it by chance. Very friendly welcome with a lovely wood burner in the bar. Good choice of drinks and we decided to return for a meal. Simple menu with traditional options. We had the fish and chips and pie with both dishes plentiful and piping hot. Only downside was they advertised skin-on chips and served the equivalent of French fries. Worth a visit.

By luck we chose this restaurant for lunch and loved it so much went again the following evening. Smiths is a charming restaurant full of character, with a number of low-ceiling rooms. We had the” scotchy burger” both times and it was absolutely sensational. Cooked to perfection, full of flavour and quite possibly the best burger I (and my wife) have ever had or could remember having (and I’ve had a few!). The cajun fries were also perfectly cooked and added a spicy side to a (moderately) spicy burger and we left wishing this place wasn’t 2 hours away! The staff were friendly , especially the young blonde lady who was so welcoming and accommodating to us and also made the delicious chocolate mousse special that we had for desert. Definitely advisable to pre-book, this place gets very busy, and deservedly so.
