The Cornish Bakery in Cotswold

Absolute terrible place. Where to begin!!! Firstly the scones where dreadful they had this awful sour taste to them and the coffee is average at best. The Cornish pasty's where okay but when I asked them to warm it up their reply was "it's warm enough". Secondly the staff need to learn some manners! There's better places then this in Cotswolds, as I tour guide I would recommend going to hunters cake house better coffee/food and way nicer staff.

Seriously beautifullllll bakery! This adorable bakery caught my eye with the stunning window display of the most delicious looking goodies. Everything was laid out picture perfect! Stopped in & was surprised to find a vegan croissant! It was amazing! Super flakey outside, doughy inside filled with raspberry filling. It was seriously so fresh, delicious & wonderful while walking around the beautiful downtown!

A cosy little cafe on the main street through Bourton-on-the-Water. The pasties are excellent and the cappuccinos are equally excellent. The seating areas are airy, clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful, polite and efficient. This is truly a hidden gem and I give it the highest recommendation.

Good hot coffee. Yummy pasties and cakes. A cute sitting area right on the high street in the center of Bourton. Nice staff.

Popped in for coffee and scones. Staff were delightful. Short staffed but still friendly and happy to chat. Scones were delicious. If we go back to Bourton will definitely visit again. Recommended.

Fabulous veggie pasties, delicious Brioch rolls and a heavenly Caramel filled cake to round it off! Very friendly staff too so we went back for more cake the next day!!

Welcome staff , range of traditional pastries that is mouth watering and the taste is second to none. Some pastries when you taste it you feel like your in Paris or Cornwall Love it ❤️

We visited Bourton on the Water for the first time as a family. Drove a good 1hr 20 after seeing how amazing the town looks like. I'd been wanting to go for years! We were in awe when we arrived, and your store looked amazing from the outside. We look a good bakery and our coffee. My wife sat down with our goods and coffee, whilst I went to the rest room. To my surprise I came out to her flustered and visibly upset. Because we'd decided to sit down rather than asking for sit in, than take out, we were told to move. In all my years, I've never had this experience before. If we had to pay extra, for the VAT for instance that would not have been an issue. What it did was ruin our experience for the day, and despite us trying to enjoy Bourton, it really left a sour taste. Customer experience is everything.....it really is. I did raise this with a member of staff in private, but she tried to justify that because she'd have to refund the order and put it through again, it wasn't worth explaining. That their store gets too busy. There was a lot of empty seats. I just can't see the issue here. The coffee, and Pistachio croissant was so so nice though!

lovely cafe with lovely coffees and fresh pastries, such ashame some of the customers are so rude to the young staff who are nothing but warm and welcoming although they dealt with it very professionally.

Still working our way through the scrumptious cakes and pastries. We haven’t had a single goody that we didn’t like. The staff are always very helpful and friendly only wish we had a place like this back home.

We found the overall experience of service, quality of food and drinks and atmosphere at The Cornish Bakery to be Upper Class. A complete contrast to A.N. Other venue a short distance away in Bourton

I came to Cotswolds with my wife for nice break in the countryside and whilst visiting the village of Bourton on the Water, we also wondered into your shop for lunch. We felt very COVID safe especially when one customer was turned away when refusing wearing a mask. The lady behind the counter was really nice and knowledgable when asking about all the different pasties and what is in them. At the end we went for the vegetable and also stilton pastie. Have not eaten better ones. And the coffee with scones that we came for later? Amazing. I can only recommend. Thank you

Being a local we like to support our local small business, always nice to drop by for a fresh barista made coffee and pastry to have on our daily walk. All Covid rules in place and sanitation station at entrance, really friendly and clean premises and nice to know I can still buy a fresh made coffee to keep us warm whilst walking through the village on a chilly fresh morning ..... try the pasties as well they are the best

The sweetest little bakery in Bourton-on-the-Water. My boyfriend had the bacon bap and I had the almond Croissant, both with a coffee. It was absolutely delicious! The staff are very friendly and all Covid precautions were taken.

I can say without any shred of doubt that I had the best breakfast bap of my life in this fine establishment! The staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere here is amazing! If you're in town I cannot recommend this bakery enough!

My 8yr old daughter and I went here today for hot drinks and a snack before the shops opened. I ordered what we wanted then realised I only had cash on me!!! Expecting to have to leave the staff so very kindly said they hope we enjoy our drinks and cheese straws and to take a seat it's on them!! Sooo kind. A chilly November day in Lockdown and we needed to get out of the house for a while. Hungry and chilly bought the large traditional cornish pasties. They are so good. Large pieces of meat great pastry and seasoned to perfection. Would give more than 5 stars if I could

Stopped for late lunch as we were hungry and they smelt so good. The pasties were fine and there is a variety of fillings to choose from but I found them a little dry with a lot of pastry and also quite expensive for what they were.

This bakery doesn't just sell pasty, but also has pasties and scones. We got the scones to takeaway and later warmed is up at home to have. It was delicious and I would definitely go back again!

Considering the COVID madness- we still manage to get a seat - I didn’t catch the gentleman’s name he was very polite. Thank you for the NHS discount. The traditional Cornish Pastie was very nice

We visited Boughton on the Water for the day and found this facility for a mid morning drink, due to the pandemic all food and drinks were eaten on the little green in front of the main facility. The tables were frequently cleared and cleaned by one of the ladies serving from a open window on the main café. The service was good with drinks being provided in throw away cups, they were hot and tasty and whilst we were lucky that the weather was good it could have been a different experience in inclement or cold weather.

Only came here for a quick snack but it was a good one. Can't judge on too much but I had a vegan cauliflower and onion pasty and it was very good. Whilst I'm not a vegan, as far as vegan food goes, this was very good. A solid 8/10

Lovely pristine cafe that’s well decorated and attractive. Everything on sale looks delicious. Pasties and sausage rolls were all excellent. I particularly enjoyed the steak and Stilton. Really friendly service and really well set up for covid. You can literally walk across road and eat next to river (bring a blanket) or there’s on site seating too. Coffees etc available.

I came to the bakery and We bought two pasties and a sausage roll which tasted amazing, was cooked well. It was definitely worth the price!! The staff were friendly, and were very Persistent with social distancing and wearing masks. Would 100% recommend and will be coming again.

They sell amazing steak and cheese pasties. A bit pricey but worth it! Staff were friendly and persistent about mask wearing which was fab!

Popped into here on our visit to Bourton-on-the-Water and we weren't disappointed. Having always been tight on the purse strings, when looking into the window and seeing the price of the items i was on the verge of walking away. We decided not too and picked up a pasty and a scone, we're definitely glad we did as it was so nice. I would recommend anyone to go here.

As part of a mini break to the Cotswolds walked around Bourton (very busy was surprised) and popped in for a coffee and chocolate torsade. We were served by Emily who was wonderful, considering covid and all...

We visited today and bought two of the large traditional pasties. Just had these for our evening meal and very disappointed. Main part is pastry and no taste to them at all. What a shame as we had expected more from the product. Will not be purchasing again. However, staff were lovely and premises very clean.

Great littlr bakery, pasties delcious. Brownie was good too as vegan and excellent prices. Will be back soon.

Great cakes and savouries. Doesn't serve eggs as part of breakfast, however. The scones are MONSTER - don't visit BOTW without having one of the scones!

We have just spent a week in Bourton and visited the Cornish Bakery 4 times for snacks! AMAZING sausage rolls and pasties. I only had the SRs and I’m pretty sure they’re the best I’ve ever had. Bravo!

We stumbled across this place whilst exploring the area and had a delicious warm lunch - I had the vegetable pasty and my husband had the pork and apple pasty. Both really enjoyed. The place also clearly had great respect for current Covid 19 circumstances; indoor seating separated by plastic screens, staff wearing visors and masks, (small) outdoor area also sensibly distanced and regular cleaning visible. Would highly recommend.

Stopped here for breakfast here several times, the overnight oat porridge was a delight and the bacon roll a great start to the day.

I live local and often wonder off down the village but instead of the common fish and chips I always go for a delicious pastry pasty form the Cornwall Bakery. Great choice and always served with a friendly smile.

Stopped by this morning after a long hike into the village. Feeling famished, I decided to grab a pasty and a cup of coffee. I was greeted with a friendly smile from the staff. The food was great, hot coffee and a delicious pasty. Highly recommend if you're in the area to stop by for a great bite to eat and some truly terrific customer service.

Nicest scone I’ve ever had! Bought a few bits at the end of day sale at half price - cannot complain about any of them. Lovely friendly service too!

I visited the other day with my friends, was served by amazing and polite staff , I also really liked the COVID 19 protection which covers the food and protects both staff and customer. You could also tell the shop was very well managed and orderly.

Had a traditional pasty which was probably the best pasty I have ever had, it was hot and fresh.Went back a week later with a small group and everyone agreed it was excellent food and value for money.Obviously at the moment it is only a take away, but there are plenty of places across the road at the side of the river to sit.In addition to the traditional Cornish pasty there is a whole range of different past fillings available including vegetarian options. Highly recommended

Lovely place to go for a delicious vanilla latte and something to eat staff are very warm and welcoming very relaxed atmosphere comfortable seating and very clean can’t fault this place it really is a gem and very different to your usual cafes ect which are usually outdated and dreary will definitely be making a return visit

This bakery is amazing, my little boy and I absolutely love it. Made to feel so welcome every time we go in and the service is the best! Food is absolutely delicious and such a variety to choose from. So lucky that we live so close so that we can pop in anytime we like!

Good place to stop for lunch in Bourton on the water- better value than surrounding cafes and we had a good filling lunch of a fresh pasty and toastie!

Went in here after visiting the motor museum as we were freezing. Lovely and warm friendly staff. We just had hot chocolate and a piece of cake which was very enjoyable. The hot food on offer looked and smelt lovely a nice comfortable place

Lovely, we stopped off here for a coffee and snack and ended up staying for ages and having one of their lovely pasties! So nice, great service, good pricing and lovely food. It’s dog friendly too which is great! My only complaint is the single toilet which could do with a little attention! Will def go again though!

There was no way, having seen this bakery/shop, that we would leave Bourton without pasties. Very helpful staff who showed us the various types and various sizes. Plenty to suit all tastes. Made our car smell delicious all the way back to Hants and the pasties were, as expected, excellent.

Really clean, dog friendly, cafe. Superb value. Highly recommended. The staff are very welcoming. A definite watering hole if you're visiting this beautiful village.

Scones, clotted cream and jam with a nice cup of tea. Seriously what could be better after a day of strolling around in the wind and rain.

We popped into the Cornish Bakery for coffee and a snack. Their cornish pasties were very good as was the coffee. The bakery is in a prime location and we had a window seat which overlooked the river, very pleasant. Service was ok, there was a male in attendance behind the counter and he was pleasant later he was joined by a female employee who obviously had a hang up about her pay and chatted on endlessly about being on minimum pay. The staff obviously have to realise that their chats can be overheard by others in the cafe!! Perhaps leave their gripes for an evening out or after hours.

Had lunch here on Saturday, pasties good and cafe wasn’t too busy. Service not fantastic, and definitely not with a smile!

We shared a filled croissant and a toasted sandwich with tea one early lunch.Nice to see different food on offer.Although the two items were a bit greasy.However very enjoyable place to waste some time.

Love this place. When I can't get to Kernow I pop in here. Its a little taste of home. IThere's pasties available in a few places in Bourton, but these are the only ones that deserves the title OGGY ! Ansum !

First things - our food options (two types of pastie) were good quality, with good flavour and portion size. We did choose to eat in and were able to observe some of the staff in action - particularly an older man who looked like the manager - and noticed abrupt, bordering on rude service to customers. Other issue was cleanliness of the eating area (and toilet). There was a high volume of dirt, crumbs and other rubbish on the floor. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned during the day. Certainly two areas that could be improved on. Food alone meant we could rate the experience 3/5. The food was good enough for us to eat again the next day in Bath. But wouldn't return to the Bourton store again if in the area and suggest you consider other options also.

Having worked in catering establishments for most of my adult life, I usually judge a place initially by the welcome I get as a customer. This was sadly lacking from the counter staff on this occasion. I bought two pasties, one tea and one coffee and was surprised to be charged over thirteen pounds. One pasty was lukewarm, as were both the tea and the coffee.The coffee cup was small and also only half full.We will not be returning.

Delicious scones and pastries but even more importantly the staff is absolutely amazing. Very friendly and helpful beyond our expectations. It was our wedding anniversary and the baker’s managed to find 2 extra scones although the place was absolutely sold out. We will definitely come back.

The food is delicious and the staff are really welcoming. Our favourites are the pasties! There always seems to be a queue but as previous comments suggest you can see why!

I saw the long queue outside and was curious as to why so I ordered a scone and it was well worth the wait! Very soft and large and for only £1.60 I would recommend this place as it does serve a range of vegan options.

Sam and Damon were so sweet and kind to us. We arrived nearly at closing but they couldn’t have been more welcoming. The pasties were delicious ( and we have just moved from Cornwall!) and so was the Cornish cake. Thanks again to you both.

Coming from Australia we have found UK sadly lacking in the coffee department - until a visit to the Cornish Bakery. Coffee is very tasty.

We went in for tea and cake, the place was pretty busy, but we found a seat.Its go to the counter spot so things were a little slow but it didn't matter

We popped in on a very cold day for a drink. There were so many things we could have chosen to eat, but my husband opted for a fruit scone, which he said was nice and fresh. I chose one of their Portugese Tarts (can’t remember the name) and it was delicious....one of the best I’ve had since going to Madeira. The young lady said they are ordered from Lisbon, so quite authentic! The only thing that let the place down was it’s toilet that needed some attention!

Great choices for lunch with delicious hot pasties, toasties, tortillas - and a wide range of treats and scones. Very reasonable prices. Comfortable seating - friendly and clean.

Called in here with the lure of tasty looking Cornish pasties and being a dog friendly cafe. Pasties were ok and quite tasty. Asked for glass of milk and charged £1.65 which was a bit excessive. Less impressed with one of the staff members who huffed and puffed when trying to get past my dog.

Visiting the area recently, we needed somewhere to get a cuppa plus was dog friendly. Although there’s no direct notice on the door stating dog friendly, we just popped our heads in & asked & were made very welcome, dog as well. Lovely hot tea, lots of it too. Also had scones & jam. Scones are enormous! Everything looked so tempting. Husbands highlight was the selling off for half price all the remaining pasties that couldn’t be carried over to the next day! He loves a bargain. Lovely staff too. Highly recommended.

Well worth buying and eating straight away as the fresh cooked taste is evident.

The food looks great in this cafe so we stopped for coffee, hot chocolate and cake. The cherry almond croissant was lovely. The carrot cake slices on the counter were smaller than we are used to but I love carrot cake so I had to try it. However, the member of staff seemed to spirit up an even smaller piece of cake than the slices on the on the counter. Unfortunately the cake was dry and stale and wasn't great.

Had a coffee and a brownie but wasn’t the best I’ve had tbh - that said it was nice enough and the coffee was hot!

Staff friendly and polite but seems understaffed as others have said. Tables not cleaned and floor dirty. I think there are better out there. Sorry.

A great place, very good staff Rob had a great recommendation of the vegan pastie which was delicious, pastries were also scrummy. Definitely going back again.

We found the staff were rushed off their feet. I queued for hot drinks but people who were buying food as well were allowed to go first, so consequently I waited a very long time. The drinks were fine when we got them. We queued for ages for the one unisex toliet. It was not very clean due to over use. We were able to see around the corner and were horrified to see plates piling up on the floor, mess on the floor, open bins, and worse of all new food waiting to go out next to the bins.

Queue out the door and you can see why. Well worth the wait for delicious scone to takeaway and a great brownie too.

On a journey from Wiltshire to the Midlands we decided to stop off via Bourton as my husband had never visited the area.Strolling along the High Street we came across this establishment. We found the staff very pleasant and welcoming and the cafe was clean and inviting but best of all had to be the lemon and blueberry scones with clotted cream - yummy with extra yum!! The coffee was very nice and as a family group it was a really enjoyable experience.

Visited here one afternoon as there were some interesting cakes in the window. I had a lemon and blueberry scone and coffee. Staff were friendly. We also bought two squares of Cornish pudding to take away. I’ve never tasted anything like this but we went back another two times for more before we left Bourton-on-the-Water. I’d love to know how it’s made. Would definitely recommend.

I visited the Cornish Bakery after reading the reviews here. But what a dissapointment. There is no service at the table, the table we had was still sticky and dirty and the place looks a bit dated. But we wanted yo give it a try anyway. We had coffee and scones. But the coffee was not strong, the scones were tasteless and the jam and cream came in small prefabricated plastic cups. The cups are too small for one scone and when we asked another cup of jam, they charged us 0,50 p extra. Ridiculous! For me it felt like a tourist trap.

Bought one of the best scones I have ever had! It was nice and high and fluffy and just yummy with strawberry jam and clotted cream spread on top! They have pictures of the Cornish coast and it makes one want to visit Cornwall!

Saw a variety of scones in the window while walking by. The lemon curd and blueberry scones looked delightful and they were.

Popped in for a takeaway pasty and impressed with cheerful professional service of staff on a grey drizzling day just what we needed !

This is a great place to go and have a snack or something to eat and drink. They are very welcoming and friendly and my guide dog loves going there and occasionally getting a treat it's a nice warm atmosphere
