The Den in Cotswold

Always fantastic service, food and coffee here. The best in the village! Sarah is always welcoming and smiling, great way to start the day.

We visited Bourton-on-the-Water with a tour group. Our guide suggested lunch at The Den when I said I had to find gluten free options. It's a very small place for carry out but the food is spectacular. You can basically choose any sandwich filling from the many selections on the board.. and they will put it on a GF bagel. I got the Pesto Chicken and it was one fo the best GF sandwiches I've ever had. Seriously! My husband got tuna and cucumber on a baguette. We ate our lunch out on the small tables next to the shop. The owner was so friendly and the whole experience was wonderful. We highly recommend.

This is probably one of the best spots in bourton on the water for breakfast and ice frappes too I visit here regularly threw the week not only is the food super the staff are amazing too always get a good warm welcoming from Sarah and James there always willing to go the extra mile if they can keep it up brilliant team

Our go too place for breakfast. Sarah, James and the team are always super friendly and look after us. They always go above and beyond for our orders, even if our requests aren’t on their menu. Highly recommend.

My friend is Vegan but yet so few shops in Bourton cater adequately for vegans which is strange in this day and age. She really fancied a cake and this shop had great options and the staff in there were friendly and knowledgeable and my friend was able to also get a vegan friendly freshly made milkshake with a milk of her choice. Whilst I'm not vegan, I can thoroughly recommend the oreo blondie, wish I'd bought a few now!

We purchased breakfast, brunch and lunch here during our week long stay in Bourton. The quality of the food was top notch and the staff are friendly. The queues outside at busy time show how popular this place is! Would recommend the avocado bagel and bacon bap. There is plenty of choice of baguettes which are well filled and satisfying.

A fantastic little find in a beautiful setting, my partner and myself popped in for a baguette and a bagel, also bought 3 flapjacks too. The staff were unbelievably friendly and welcoming, the prices were quite reasonable (considering the prices nearby), the food was to a high standard and flavoursome, the shop itself was little but busy, staff were not flustered, its decorated to be inviting, which is it. If you’re ever in Bourton on the water, I’d definitely recommend going to The Den, it’s our ‘go to’ should we visit again.

Not that many places serve food for people with food intolerances/ allergies with such ease and inclusiveness. Ordered jacket potato and vegan cheese, beautifully presented and tasted great. Would definitely recommend a visit to everyone.

Brilliant little take away (bit they do have some counter space to sit). Huge menu board with all sorts of fillings for bagels, baguettes, salads etc. lots of vegan options and almost all the fillings could be done on a gluten free bagel (yes, I typed that correctly - a GF bagel!!!). Also GF cakes. Excellent service. Would thoroughly recommend.

Second time they have provided us with baguettes, crisps, cake and salads on platters for a business do. They always provide fresh, tasty food and cater for all dietary requirements. Everyone always says how delicious it is and ask who catered it. Some of our team now go there to get their lunch when in the area. They are our first choice.

The best cafe I’ve been to. I had problems with other places nearby that advertised they cater for gluten free but didn’t cater for celiacs. I was in quite a distressed mood by the point. I saw online that The Den catered gluten free, I wasn’t optimistic about them being able to cater for a celiac. To my joy they did and went through everything I could have and told me the small selection of items I couldn’t have. I HAD A GLUTEN FREE BAGLE. A BAGEL? Do you know how rare that it is in the gluten free community? Especially ones in food establishments and that tasted incredible. The best bread based product I’ve ever had. I had coronation chicken which was also very delicious, I would heavily recommend you visit here. 4 types of gluten free cakes also. They also had a lot of deflation for vegans as well for sandwich, baguette fillings etc. Very sad I don’t live closer as I wouldn’t visit here as often as I could.

It's late January - Sunday - mid afternoon - you've spent hours at Birdland and realise you're actually really hungry. Even at this time of year the town is busy and the weather is nice enough that outdoor cafe tables are full. Trip Advisor says The Den is the place to go! Still with some trepidation we went in, however on seeing the cake selection knew it was a good call. Ok, so the place is tiny, but the menu is massive and they really do have a wide range of veggie / vegan / GF options plus every milk alternative under the sun. We grabbed the only two bar stools and munched a couple of hot baguettes and a slice of cake (black forest for anyone wanting a recommendation) quite happily. Fully deserving of the No1 rating!

Lovely friendly, but there are only two seats inside when we went, and the rest were in the rain, so we had to grab our treasures and eat them in the car, which is not quite the experience we'd hoped for.

The coffee here was undrinkable. The coffee was burnt, the milk was too hot. I ordered a cappuccino and there was no effort at all put into frothing the milk properly. It was also expensive, which makes it even worse. We also ordered a brookie which was very average for how much it cost. Would not recommend this place for coffee.

I cannot understand why this little hut doesn't have a huge orange dropper pointing to it on Maps. The whole experience is hands down the best for a breakfast place my wife and I have ever had worldwide! The produce simply has to come from a farm because the quality is top notch. Albeit my wife and I are not vegan, my wife is lactose intolerant, and so the sheer range of vegan options is highly appreciated. The coffee is flavoursome without being excessively bitter. The customer service is absolutely second-to-none, as they evidently know every one of their customers. Even if you are popping in for the first time on a city break for your anniversary like us, they treat you like they've known you for ages. Not only all that, but despite the establishment being very small, it is quaint, warm and welcoming, with a very homely feel. Honestly, I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Fantastic spot to grab a sandwich from to eat on the village green.I had a really tasty Haloumi and cranberry bagutte. We were pleased to see the happy cow logo and had spotted on the Vegetarian and Vegan App. It is great to find somewhere with so many options and choices of dairy free milk because who wants to drink cows milk we are people not calves!

We visited Bourton twice whilst in The Cotswolds and both times we popped in to The Den. Competitive prices, great service and an even better selection of door and drink. The vegan options were epic so that's what we went for!

I loved this place. Friendly people, a huge menu selection (especially for vegans which is rare), and great coffee. They have the Cotswolds rental coffee cup which you can use and return for re-use. All the food is fresh and they have good opening hours.

This is what you want from a cafe, lots of choice for vegans! Usually there is just one choice. And friendly. Definitely will be the first port of call next time we visit the area.
