Pulled in as it was heavy and a toilet stop was needed and not realising that there was a coffee place. Liked the coffee and found the lady serving to be friendly and chatty despite the awful weather - even gave us a Cornwall tourist pack with info etc about the county. We hadn't long eaten so didn't want food but they looked to have a fair range on the menu so I think most people would find something without too much problem. Nice to see such places thriving and they make a change from the usual roadside garage offerings - especially on a major road like the A30. Hope they are there for a long time.

Friendly local pub with a lovely atmosphere. Real fires make it cosy. Guest beers available. A nice dining area which is very clean. Welcoming bar staff

Fantastic food, I ordered a Christmas hamper which had a delivery issue through no fault of their own. Tom from Coombeshead arranged a replacement box straight away and it was the best charcuterie products we have ever tasted. The Mangalitza pate and apple jelly on the sourdough was a particular highlight. Will definitely order again

This is a place we wanted to visit whilst we were in the locality mainly due to the Daphne Du Maurier book of the same name and the museum based there. The food and service were good and we were fortunate to arrive there when they had some live entertainment on in the bar which added to the overall experience. The food is reasonably priced for what is as much a tourist attraction as it is a pub and restaurant. The pub itself is a great place full of history as well as having great views over the moors. The museum is well worth a visit if you are interested in Du Maurier and the inns past. The pub is dog friendly although they can't go in the restaurant area. We had no problems getting getting a table however we would imagine the place gets very busy in high season. There was a large car park which looked like it could accommodate a fair number of vehicles but, as above, is probably full to brimming in the high season.
