The best restaurants in Compton and Otterbourne Winchester South East

A wonderful lunch, sandwiches- ciabatta and sourdough with sausage, cheese, tune etc and great coffee and tea. The bread was so fresh and warm. We had walked from Eastleigh along the Itchen Way so it was a very welcome refreshment stop.

Just had the Burns night menu, went last year and was brilliant. This year however not so good. Food was lovely but not everything available on menu, when I mentioned this to waitress I was told that not everything had been delivered. If your offering a particular menu you should make sure in advance that the full menu is available.

Excellent food, atmosphere, service. A lovely lunchtime.

We had an excellent meal at The Kings Head last night. Lovely tasteful starters, highly recommend the cheese and swede souffle. Followed by excellent fish and chips and a wonderful homemade pie. Great food and excellent service.

We were part of a Christmas reunion meeting of 10 friends for lunch. We were looked after so well. Numerous different (pre-booked) starters, mains and sweets were served and most received very positive mentions. Just the fish (with fish & chips) was thought to have been over-fried. My duck starter (perhaps better served warm rather than cold?) and venison main were delicious. Service, for such a large party, was quick and well co-ordinated. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The ambience, of course, is great. Only the "card only payment" policy caused some annoyance. It seemed to take over-long to get through 5 separate payments. But, overall, 4.9 out of 5! We went to Bambridge mainly to see the Christmas displays which were very good. We also had lunch which also was good and tasty served in good time in some nice surroundings despite the staff being very busy and cheerful. Overall a good experience and would visit again.

Lovely country pub. Can't give a fair review as it was Christmas eve and really busy. Food was good though and service was good under the circumstances. Will definitely go back!!

Fantastic service and food, Rosie was great. She was very nice and and easy to talk to, certainly gave me a good reason to come back.

Went for this years team lunch. So we all chose from the set Christmas menu. It is acceptable to produce food to a price for set menus. However if they are, then make them enjoyable. My ‘ slow cooked beef brisket’, instead of being what I had assumed would be slow cooked and fall apart. Was a tough lump, as if it was an inch cut from last Sunday lunch left overs. Those that had the Turkey faired better, but one twig of greens on a dollop of mash, with five strings of red cabbage ! My pint of beer was good but, Guinness from a can ! If I had been with family I would have sent it back. But we were on time constraints to return to work. In past years I have been retirement drinks here, then stayed to eat. Shame.
