Fantastic service and food, Rosie was great. She was very nice and and easy to talk to, certainly gave me a good reason to come back.

As we walked in we were greeted with the familiar smell coming from beautiful bunch of Lillies. We were taken to our table right opposite a very welcoming coal fire the atmosphere was inviting service was great. we ordered and not 1 complaint. I can honestly say the BEST fillet steak cooked to perfection it’s hard to find a chef that can cook a perfect RARE. Succulent and flavoursome.Very happy lady. My friend had linguine crab prawn chiritzo with scallops yum yum. We finished with lemon tart well the pastry melted in your mouth no soggy bottom the inside didn’t disappoint lemon flavour was beautiful . the fruit chuntney and meringue not to our liking. The tart didn’t need anything else. Thank you for a wonderful experience we will be back

The food was pretty average we had roasts at lunch and we ordered an extra side of cauliflower cheese. The side came and there no cheese on it was dry and burnt but was replaced which was fine. The pork wasn’t fresh it tasted like it was reheated. However, Jack was serving us and was absolutely amazing he was so so polite and had excellent customer service skills and nothing was a bother. Jack is an asset the old forge.

Lauren did a brilliant job looking after us and the barman was so efficient. The food was lovely, as always. We always have a good time.

I just wanted to leave a review following a really wonderful lunch experience at the Old Forge yesterday. We were served by Stuart and he was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful and a real asset to the place. I have often come away disappointed previously because it has often felt disjointed and is expensive and therefore expectations align with the high price…. but I can honestly and happily say that the food (I had the prawn linguine and my son the signature burger) service, and ambience was faultless yesterday and I will look forward to returning again soon and not leaving it so long next time. Thanks again.

Food was excellent but service was pretty poor. Waited a very long time to order initial drinks and were never offered further drinks at any point in the meal. When they cleared we asked for a jug of water which never arrived. At no point did anyone check in on our food or engage in any way. Waitress seemed to constantly forget what was said just seconds ago. Such a shame that the evening was spoilt by the poor service. The restaurant was not even busy and there was often three wait staff just chatting.

We were a group of 8 women having dinner and everything was fabulous thank you. The service was terrific, James was our waiter this evening we had absolutely delicious food, thoroughly recommend dining here.

Couldn’t recommend this pub enough. We came in as an unbooked big party of 20 and they fitted us in with no hassle despite being busy. The manger was lovely and everyone who worked there accommodated us fantastically and to top it off the food was fantastic, a variety of food tried and loved. And it came out very quickly

Not overly impressed re service. False smiled waitress who wouldn’t always listen to the customers means things asked to excluded, were still delivered. Cutlery and glasses not checked before putting on table for cleanliness. Starters choice somewhat limited. Main course was “ok” but prawns not properly prepared but for sweet, think they had a cheese shortage when we were there. An ultra thin sliver that breaks when you to go to eat it only shows off a prowess for cutting cheese ultra thin. A piece big enough to savour would have been much better. Also try more standard crackers as the coloured thin ones given add nothing. All in all, not worth nearly £10. Appearance seems more important than taste. I wouldn’t bother with the rhubarb cider as it was under whelming, not even quench able.. Really needs to re look at itself and what customers actually want / expect as currently they miss the mark. Conclusion, was an acceptable meal but could he been better. Certainly not brilliant. Would we go here again, not in a hurry

I was celebrating my birthday with my sister and friend. Our waitress Ami was great. Very professional and friendly. The atmosphere is great and they do not blast you with head banging music. One can a lovely conversation.

Nina was our server today! She was attentive and checked in on us several times! Our food was great (we had a pizza and a burger- the burger was better than the pizza) and we got a lovely table in the restaurant. The food came out quickly and they managed to find us a table in the restaurant even though we booked in the bar. I recommend this place!!

Lovely atmosphere and the food is delicious. Great value for money. The staff is friendly and competent. Definitely one of our favourite places to go to for dinner with friends.

I used to come here regularly 20 years ago when I lived up the road and it’s still as good today as it was then. Lovely country pub with comfortable seating, great food and service, and an all-round good experience. Came in for lunch with my son who’s a bit of a burger connoisseur and he enjoyed it. Also came in recently for an evening meal on a Sunday - a delicious roast.

We had a lovely lunch. Lauren looked after us. She was Very pleasant. Nice pub plenty of carparking. We will be back soon.

A last minute decision to lunch at The Forge. We received a warm welcome and decided to eat in the restaurant. Deciding to have the lunch menu we selected the pate and squid - generous portions and tasty. Hearing that the cod n chips was best in the village that was our choice. We were not disappointed as it was nicely cooked and a good portion. All in all a very pleasant experience - staff efficient and food good.

We visited for a family lunch and were most impressed with the service, the quality of food, the menu, and value for money. We visited on a very busy Friday and were served by Alice, who was very pleasant and very efficient, considering she was covering the whole room full of diners. A top notch member of staff!

The Old Forge in Otterbourne is one of the best pubs for miles! The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is exceptional! It's great for any occasion, whether it be lunch , dinner or a special occasion. I highly recommend it!

The booking was for a special 80th birthday celebration and special as the family are special was definitely not the experience ! For a table booking time of 6.45 seated we were with no greeting and 40 minutes later the waitress managed to come over reluctantly to get the drinks order , after we had gone to the bar to get at least the birthday boy his first pint ! Whilst waiting for the drinks (another 30 minutes or so at least ) we were asked to order our food? After saying we would like to have at least a drink first she then raised her eyes and walked off in a huff ? I ask you . Anyway we must have been there an hour when the drinks started to come through , no water as requested because apparently all the water jugs were in use ???? Even when checking on two bottles of wine that were not on the first serving she retorted ‘ I only have one pair of hands ! ‘ odd behaviour for a waitress . Anyway when we did order the food came and although starters were ok my main chilli noodles with crispy duck in sweet chilli sauce was inedible ? Very hard duck lack of sauce and the noodles was more like tagliatelle ?? Not sure what that was all about , I left it but a guy came over as noticed it was not good and offered to take it off the bill , which was good but was voluntary so thought that was odd . I was past complaining . When at the end of the meal still no water we checked all tables and no sight of water jugs so when asked at the bar the and reported this fact the glasses were soon put on the table with some water by the same waitress who did not appear happy , she heard us saying that it was odd no jugs when she interrupted shouting SORRY ??? As a retort ? We acknowledged to her that it was our conversation and not directed to her . Basically for a meal with a bill of over £600 the lack of care rudeness from her and atmosphere begs to wonder why on earth anyone goes there ? I for one shall never return . I do have to say the rest of the staff were all ok it was just the one who served us .

Having previously been disappointed with the flat tonic water '0n tap' this time we were greeted with a bottle of tonic by Stuart at the bar who had remembered our previous complaint re the G and T! Amazing and very much appreciated!

We dined here at lunchtime on a Saturday and opted for the all day menu. The service was really top class with staff being very attentive but not intrusive. The menu was extensive and the food was really excellent.

Having visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we decided to give it another go and weren’t disappointed, the food was just as good and thankfully warmer than the first time we visited, not as hot as we would have liked but still a big improvement. Alice, our server went out of her way to accommodate our requests for a couple of changes on the menu, we both had roast chicken, the portions of which are very generous. We ordered a couple of sides but wouldn’t make that mistake again as the dinner served was more than enough and despite being extremely busy Alice was always smiley and nothing was too much trouble.

Terrible. We were kicked off our table so they could give it to someone else. We weren't told we only had a certain time, a member of staff said to us that we had five minutes to leave our table. We had intended to purchase puddings and more drinks but were told to move from our table. We were sat at our table at 13:00 and told to leave at 14:25. We moved to the bar to have more drinks but were told all the tables were for food. Seems to me that the Old Forge are all about money and not Old fashions customer care. Shame as we will never go back. Short sighted on their part as we were prepared to buy drinks all afternoon. And the pub industry wonder why they are struggling. Good buy The Old Forge hope it goes well with your money grabbing ways.

We have visited the old forge on a few occasions now and have never been disappointed. We are usually a group of at least 8 people, so quite a few to deal with. Our last visit was 18th November. The welcoming atmosphere in this pub is fantastic with a log fire burning away. We were served by Rosie who was amazing, with her sense of humour , excellent service and a few stories. Nothing was too much trouble for her and even played a joke on my vegan fiancee. The food is first class with a varied interesting menu with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. They will even try and adjust things if there is something you can't eat . The old forge at otterbourne is more than worth a visit, and if you're lucky enough to have Rosie serve you, you'll definitely have a good time. As her about the anteater!

A warm and cosy pub/restaurant with super atmosphere for a Thursday evening. Food was of high standard and no undue delays considering how busy the place was. Special mention for Alice our waitress - naturally cheerful, helpful and a good sense of humour. A real bonus to a very good evening.

A friend recommend this pub to us and we weren't disappointed, our server, Lauren was very efficient. The food was delicious but our only 'gripe' was that it was served luke warm and by the time we got anyones attention, it was too late as we had to rush and eat it whilst it was at least warmish.
