A wonderful lunch, sandwiches- ciabatta and sourdough with sausage, cheese, tune etc and great coffee and tea. The bread was so fresh and warm. We had walked from Eastleigh along the Itchen Way so it was a very welcome refreshment stop.

What a gem. Located in a railway station with shades of Brief Encounter. Authentic colour scheme and decor but with incredible food. And the best coffee I have had for a long time (and I drink a lot of coffee!) Accessible by car, train, bus or a 2 minute detour from the Pilgrims Way if you are exploring the area on foot.

Visited today to meet a work colleague and had the best Bacon Roll ever. Packed with crispy bacon in a lovely roll. The tea was a proper brew all served by a friendly member of staff.

Took a group (8No) of mature walkers in for drinks at lunchtime. Made very welcome. Ideal for a stop while walking the Itchen Navigation footpath. Serves scoop ice creams, will try on future visits. Thoroughly enjoyed drinks break in a cosy atmosphere. Ideal for those wanting to use train to and from good walking area and scenery.

I stood waiting to be served for ten minutes while a barista washed up rather than serving the increasing queue. Left as service was so inattentive.

I so wanted to like Platform One but unfortunately, after a few visits since it opened I've given up giving it the benefit of the doubt. Promoted as a Coffee House, I would have expected a decent cup of coffee, but no. I've tried various coffees there now, but none have hit the spot. The latest offering of a Latte was barely hot, and barely tasted of coffee. Conveniently located for local walkers, but parking spaces are a rare find. The fact that the cafe is dog friendly may be a bonus to many, but in such a confined space, with many bringing in their pampered (but often ill behaved) pooches, it is not always a comfortable space for those without pooches.

After a lovely walk starting from Shawford following up the Itchen Trail to Winchester, and a short train ride back, we were looking forward to refreshments. We certainly were not disappointed! My wife and I both enjoyed freshly made smoothies which were smashing, followed by blueberry cake and a honeycomb and chocolate tiffin. The tearoom is decorated in period Southern Railway colours which is in keeping with its heritage, so that was nice to see. Good service with a clean and well laid out seating arrangement, not too packed in! No negatives, and would certainly detour to visit if in the area again. Keep up the good work.

Funny how some places take you back.. the last time I was at Shawford station I was actually flying back from the Kingdom of Fife and journeyed the final leg back to Twyford via the train To Shawford from Southampton Airport.. Then many moons before that I was a young train-spotter with my mate Stu on the end of the platform after school...yes, yes, I know, less than hip, but hey! that was back in the '70s when my mates & I at Peter Symonds Grammar School in Winch were all in this innocent past-time together in what for us was a 'golden era' before mobile phones & play stations took hold! That was actually back in the days when there was still an old station master in his little single window cubby-hole dispensing 'proper' railway tickets by hand....the smell of tar from the old building & covered walk-way and diesel oil on the tracks never far from one's nostrils.. very evocative. Not quite the age of steam. .but compared to life today, it was close as you get without feeling a total antique!! Now that is all changed as I have just found.. and the old ticket office is a fab café.. catering both for early morning commuters, the myriad walkers & hikers that regularly follow the Itchen Navigation but a few paces away.. and the curious passer by... er, that'll be me then! I'd heard from friends here in Twyford that a brave entrepreneur had in recent times converted the old ticket office into a cafe and so, having my barnet cut just around the corner, I thought I'd take my new hair-cut for a short walk afterwards to give it a go and have a cuppa..!. Glad I did as it is a cracking little place...and still very much has the feel of a historic old railway café that you see in the old black & white movies.. (funny then that certain scenes in the 1974 Sophia Loren remake of 'Brief Encounter' were shot close by here, at Owslebury and in Winchester...plus Victor Meldrew also meeting his end, though in colour, just 50 yards away at the tunnel entrance from the down line.. what a hoot! So one caramel latte later I was able to sit back and take the building in once again: it still has the high vaulted ceiling I recall of old and small railway-type brown tables in the main room; the former station master's office now opens up to the public from the car-park and on the other side of the large main room are double-doors through which you make your way straight up onto the London-bound platform...neat! Chatting to one of the staff after my cuppa, I gleaned that they are actually open 7-days a week... quite something in this new age of 'work from home just 4-days a week' malarkey.. and they open up at 7.30am on weekdays to cater for the early-bird London commuter and a little later at 9.00am on weekends. I was also told they have applied for a alcohol licence which they hope may be forthcoming later this year, which will certainly add to their attractive armoury and make it a really chi-chi little venue to have a glass of something 'medicinal' as the mood takes! With both an inside & outside seating area, it is a great little stop-off for a cuppa (or perhaps a bacon buttie or burger in a bun that I thought I spotted in a glass cabinet waiting to be toasted.. and of course ice cream & cold drinks are a must in this heat if you are just dropping in from a hike or a cycle ride hereabouts All in all it was a nice 15 minutes or so over my latte.. my new hair-cut certainly enjoyed it ..and so I will certainly head back again when time next permits or when I'm booked in for my next 'fourpenny all off' on Shawford's main drag, thanks! :)

Called in while on a walk along the River Itchen and over Twyford Down. The community cafe has been really well renovated, has a great vibe and served up some excellent coffee and yummy cakes which fuelled us up nicely! Will certainly call in again 😎

Lovely little coffee shop. Great if you are nostalgic about rail stations from your childhood. This is exactly how I remember waiting stations... sadly without the delicious cakes and coffee. It was packed when I was there so obviously popular . Gelato looked very tempting. I will definitely be back to try it! My only gripe was having to pay an extra 20p for decaf latte. That definitely isn't common practice nowadays. Otherwise, definitely worth a visit.

Having laid vacant for 40 years, the derelict area was transformed this year by the Three Rivers community Rail Partnership into an impressive café / meeting point that serves the village , commuters and a lot of thirsty walkers. Excellent, helpful staff, that serve great coffee pastries and savoury items, as well as some of the best gelato about. So worth dropping in not just for drink to go on the hourly plus train service, but a real plus for weekend walks on Shawford Down and the Itchen navigation. This is a local initiative, that has had significant funding, and is well worth popping in and supporting. It is a warm friendly place

Lovely place specialising in chocolates and indeed hot chocolate. Popped in today for a vegan hot chocolate, pot of tea and two cinnamon buns. All really good and a couple of salted caramel pieces of chocolate as tasters too. Will happily return to try some more and perhaps buy some chocolates too.

Breakfast costs 16 pounds for 2 small salmon-on-top-of pastry things and came out barely warm. Absolutely not worth the time. I swear, people in Winchester have too much money to throw around. The man manager/waiter is lovely though.

My first time coming in here and I was not expecting the food to be so tasty! So much choice and not the bland food you always think of when you think of vegan choices. Pleasantly surprised.
