The Bridge Inn in Winchester

I stopped off here with little dog to break up the journey, extremely dog friendly, great selection of no alcohol beers including Guinness. Very quaint and old pub with lots of spaces and friendly staff. I was in between meals so only wanted a snack; the mini steak and ale pie was delicious and the mini cottage brochettes out of this world !!

We had a breakfast today with my husband .Everything was lovely. Hannah was so friendly and welcomed us very warmly. Really impressed by the servise.

Popped in for breakfast on the way to a job. Greeted by Hannah as soon as I walked in who offered a seat and drink Food came quickly once ordered

We went for lunch, the food and service were excellent .

I was very satisfied. The dishes are prepared with love, and the staff is attentive to each guest.

Having gone to the bridge for a meal we encountered the disappearing manager befor you could order a drink gone then came back managed to order drinks, I asked where could sit for a meal he said either side then my wife looked for a table to be told they were all reserved and this man is rude to say the least, we left having paid for drinks we did not get. To be honest it spoilt a trip down memory lane as we have used this pub on and of for 50 years but that went out of the window . Registered a complaint via their complaints process I was assured that an area manager would contact us no he tried to put his side across he was at fault as I live up north now I doubt we could enjoy it but I will never use the bridge again memories lost

Very nice place and we were well looked after, but the food was mediocre and expensive. Venison burger merely OK and a bit overcooked, toad in the hole stodgy and the sausages not that nice

We had a delicious Sunday meal here. Slow roast rib of beef and vegetables. Seasonal fruits crumble to follow. Unfortunately, we had eaten too much already. So we were allowed to take it away with us to enjoy later. The staff were very polite and friendly. And we are looking forward to a return visit very soon🤞. Thank you💐

An excellent spur of the moment Sunday roast with a good friend. The pork was delicious and the Yorkshire pudding yummy. The whole roast dinner was so full of flavour. The staff are easy to chat to and friendly. I will definitely be back! Special mention to Dwayne for looking after us.

Limited vegetarian options. This maybe due to it being a Sunday.

Beef sandwich the ciabatta inside was burnt black and thus very hard to eat . No skin on fries just ordinary string fries. Seasonal salad was a few wisps of lettuce. Fish and chips. The fish was just not there. Just a pile of mushed batter. Very noisy. 5 of us pre booked and placed right by the serving area next to the high chair store area etc Crash bang. Never will we go there again

Looked after brilliantly by Hannah and James . Came in late but nothing was too much hassle for the team.

Very nice setting and helpful staff. The food was very nice and the pub it's self was clean and tidy. Car park to the rear and disabled parking at the front. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and experience.

I enjoyed a delicious meal this evening at The Bridge. I was served by Jemma, Wilmer, James and Steve. The service as always was excellent. Josh, Martin and Ben did a great job in the kitchen preparing my food. I highly recommend The Bridge; it’s the best place to go in Winchester.

Absolutely fantastic. Food was delicious, every bite was full of flavour and exquisite to taste. Staff were very professional, attentive and lovely. The setting is beautiful, and even when it was busy, it didn't feel it because it is so well laid out, and there are so many cosy nooks. The outside looks very romantic in the dark.

Excellent full English breakfast, and loads of it. Good value for money and friendly service. Pub was almost empty which is the only downside but I’m guessing that’s only because people don’t realise what they’re missing!

Like it, great staff friendly and attentive. Nice location, nice beer. Cottage pie croquettes, recommended by the barman, he was not wrong.

Really lovely pub and setting. Went on 7th Sept , very flavoursome English breakfast however unfortunately everything was just barely lukewarm. Almost empty 10.30ish and took around 40 minutes for the food to arrive. Breakfast drinks very pricey!

Had very variable experience here on different occasions. Had an excellent Sunday roast and a poor one. Last time we went on a weekday summer evening the food was disappointing - especially the mushroom pies. Service is variable too. Nice interior and garden.

Visited sat 24th August. Excellent food for a "Chain" pub, but what made it an excellent evening was the attitude of the staff, it was evident from the manager welcoming us on arrival that the staff knew they were there to please the customers. We will definitely return

Open on a bank holiday Monday evening. Welcoming selection of drinks. We sat outside. All the food was of a high standard and just what everyone was after. It was delivered very quickly. Service was excellent.

Really nice pub. Very doggy friendly. Great location for walks. Staff were great. Had chicken and bacon sandwich really good. The only slight issue is that the outside areas near the outside bar need a good tidy up, a lot of rollup cigarette buts lying around. If this is a smoking area then containers need to be provided. When we were there was no one smoking but popular with dog walkers so just needs a regular sweep up.

We stopped in for a drink a couple of weeks ago and ended up staying for dinner after seeing other people’s food - the staff were lovely and welcoming, and a big thank you to James who was serving us, he spoke us through options and was very knowledgeable and attentive! A great pit stop for a long journey :)

Lovely clean pub with many places to sit both inside and out, dogs obviously very welcome with beds, water bowls etc provided, friendly staff. We all enjoyed our food which was priced averagely (ie: normal for a nice pub). Modernised but keeping that olde-worlde touch.

Frequent customer of The Bridge. Reasonably priced lunch menu, featuring lovely ciabatta sandwich options such as Steak and Chicken & Bacon always coming with a side of fries as standard. Friendly staff always keen to ensure your time spent is comfortable no matter how long or short your stay. Great draught beer selection. Beautifully decorated inside and out with free off-road parking and WiFi for guests with loads of outdoor and indoor seating, nestled right by the River Itchen. What more could you ask for? A perfect lunchtime stop

Wilma was really lovely, made us aware of the wait but made sure we were all okay while we waited. Steve made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. Thank you for a lovely service :)

Slow service for overpriced spoons quality microwaved food. Ordered lunch for two, sides came out 10 mins after we finished the mains, Waitress spilled half a meal over the table. Run and staffed by kids, clearly gone downhill the past 2 years. Edit:clearly from the owners 'response' below they have a bot looking at the reviews rather than the owner. Perhaps if a human looked at these negative reviews they might actually learn?

Strange experience. We arrived and found a table outside in the dining area and then 5 minutes later went inside to ask for a menu. We were told that somebody will be out in a moment, 10 minutes later nobody had come. We managed to find some menus in the server's area and after searching through the 3 different food menus, we went inside to ask how we can order. We were told to order at the bar but "not yet as we've just had lots of people ordering so please wait a few minutes". When we ordered at the bar they said "I see you already have an open tabs with some drinks on them" which wasn't true so they clearly hadn't kept track of what's what. Ordered two vegan meals (one adult and one child) and 40 minutes later it arrives, our 5 year old was super hungry and upset at this point. When it arrives, we queried that it was actually vegan as there was a lovely looking Yorkshire pudding on the plate. She waitress said she didn't know and that she'll take them away to check. 15 minutes later a different waitress arrives with the two same plates minus half of the food - its now just some peas, broccoli, butternut squash and some purple cabbage on top with purple juice splattered all over the plate. We complained to the waitress, saying its not acceptable, especially for the high prices they were charging and we requested a refund. She came back to tell us that if we wanted to talk to the manager about it we'll have to go into the bar. When we went into the bar for the refund, they had no record of our order and after scrambling around for 5 minutes just guessed the price our of meals and paid us in cash. The staff were clueless (untrained), management team at the bar looked tired and could barely manage a smile or to communicate properly. We were starving so hopped on a train to Winchester where we had some delicious food and normal service. Can't wait for the generic response management gives to all of their reviews on here.

We went on a Saturday evening for Nan’s 94th birthday celebrations Wilma was very accommodating and made Nan’s experience really lovely

Very long wait for food nearly an hour, were told 30 mins because of a large table of guests inside, very few tables taken inside when we arrived at 12, not busy, beer battered fish and chips very poor compared to the other food looked like it had been thrown on plate, no curl to the fish or bubbles to the batter very small portion of peas compared to the other mains veg, asked for bbq sauce for one of the party received a bowl of gravy, ladies loos disgusting, one hand dryer out of order one loo unaccessible, one no paper, one blocked and over flowing, 98 quid for four mains and soft drinks very dissapointed as we were really looking forward to this.

Wilma was our waitress during lunchtime at The Bridge in Shawford, and she was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The pub itself was a joy, with a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. I would have liked to have been able to eat down in the garden area but this is a minor grumble.

Friendly service, food arrived quickly, the server, Wilma, checked in with us at appropriate points and we felt well looked after. The 8oz sirloin steak was a particular highlight.

Just had a lovely lunch outside in the garden, food was great and a lovely young lady called Poppy did a great job ensuring the customer service was excellent even though she was new to job. A busy pub with lots of customers with Claire making sure all was running smoothly. Be back soon with the dog who also enjoyed herself 😃🤣

We visited for a family birthday meal. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly. We were thoroughly looked after throughout our visit. The food was fantastic with a great menu choice. The décor and atmosphere is great. I would thoroughly recommend.

This place is Gem, it has it all, great space and decor, brilliant staff serving a very nice and well thought out menu.

I recently visited the Bridge at Shawford for Sunday lunch. There were 2 adults and a child. We arrived and received a warm welcome from the staff. The service from drinks to food was exceptional. I would personally like to mention Hannah our waitress. Super friendly very attentive awesome service. I think the owners has a little gem of a person there

Stopped by for lunch whilst walking the Itchen Way. Had the Ploughman's plate, which was enormous and plenty big enough for 3 people with a side of chips. Were also incredibly helpful with the gluten free requirements.

Pop in here on our way back from Hampshire weekend away. Was lucky to come across this great venue . It was a Sunday lunch time and we hadn't booked, but was found a table we both really enjoyed the Sunday roasts. The staff were all fantastic and incredibly helpful and a great asset to the pub.

Pub and food was nice, however I was not made aware that you had to pay, and therefore got a £60 fine, absolutely ridiculous.

Really disappointing experience here on a few occasions over the last few weeks. We clearly are not your ‘typical clientele’ but we are still customers and should be treated with respect like any one else. Yes, we are a young group of people… all of legal drinking age may I add. But when we are trying to respectfully enjoy an evening with a group of friends to hear the staff make sly remarks about ‘it’s that group again’ is insanely rude and unprofessional. Even the staff behind the bar who are clearly higher management making remarks, whispering to each other and clearly not speaking to us as we’ve so politely heard you talking to other customer. A bit of equality would be nice and for us to enjoy our local pub without being sneered at would be marvellous next time.

Whilst I had a small issue with food, it was very quickly rectified and the service was excellent. Thank you Claire
