The best restaurants in Cheriton and Bishops Sutton Winchester South East

My partner and I camped overnight in the car park after having some dinner and some drinks at the pub. We called beforehand to confirm as we had seen it advertised on Park4Night. Spoke with Ronnie who was so friendly and welcoming. When we arrived we immediately felt so comfortable and treated like regulars, though it was our first time. There was no monetary requirement to stay but we decided to pay for our visit by buying food and a couple of pints. Great selection of beer and the best skin on chips we've ever had. We played some board games in their beautiful pub garden. The night in our campervan was quiet, staff arrived at around 10am in the morning but were very respectful. Overall, the staff felt incredibly warm and hospitable. We will definitely be back with some friends and to do some more camping. Thank you Ronnie and team.

This has become a favourite of ours. Very friendly, attentive and polite staff. A cosy atmosphere. Had a lovely lunch today, very relaxed, not rushed at all. Food of very good quality. Good selection on menu and specials on board. Gluten free options but not many choices especially dessert which was a bit disappointing for myself in particular. Price is average. Service was good. Food wait was reasonable. All in all will return in the not too distant future.

Just finished a fantastic Sunday lunch here. We had the roast pork and the sausages & mash (on special). My Roast pork was one of the best I've ever had, (my only criticism is that there could have been more of it) the roast potatoes were lovely and crispy and fluffy inside, all accompanied with a superb veg selection of steamed savoy cabbage, carrot and swede mash, broccoli and red cabbage. The gravy that came with it seemed to be specifically pork gravy and was delicious. I asked for stuffing with the pork and extra gravy. Nothing was too much trouble and I will definitely be going back again even tho it's 25 minutes drive, it is well worth it. 5 stars without hesitation!

What a fantastic gem of a pub.. great food good choice of drinks a true country pub 👌

On arrival we were welcomed by a very enthusiastic member of staff who took our drink( 2soft drinks and a beer) and food order. I chose the fish of the day, skate wing with brown butter and capers and new potatoes, (£26) and my family chose the double beef patty burgers. After a reasonable time, the food was served, and we were asked if we wanted any sauces. I replied that I was waiting for the vegetables. I was told that the skate came with potatoes, and if I wanted vegetables I could order seasonal vegetables from the menu, which I was given. Vegetables cost an extra £6, So I decided to decline, as when I have eaten a fish dish before in other places, vegetables have been included for a similar priced meal. The skate wing was the smallest I have ever been served(? Maybe half a skate wing), and the edges well cooked, thus leaving very little edible fish. My family were disappointed with their average burgers, and felt they would have been better value if they had been served with some salad leaves or coleslaw. We were all very disappointed with what we felt was a below average meal. I did not complain at the time as I was treating my family and did not wish to cause a scene. A service charge of £9 was added to the bill which I did not realise until after I had paid. I’m sure there are better value food options on the menu, but alas, we did not choose them. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

We have just returned from our first trip to The Bush Inn at Ovington, and we’re very happy, thank you. The food was delicious, the service (Leo and the two female staff) was excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming too. Pick of the main courses were Steak and Ale pie, Haddock and chips, and the children’s Burger. Prices were reasonable and the selection of food was excellent. We will definitely be back, probably in the warmer weather, when we can use the large beer garden. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

We lunched here after a walk. Friendly welcome on arrival. We were a large party so we had pre ordered. Food came out promptly, portions were generous and food was tasty. I enjoyed my sausage baguette with chips and salad and everyone else seemed to enjoy their choices. I didn't hear any complaints. Would be happy to return.
