The best restaurants in Abbey Reading South East

A really great place - coffee is good, cakes are great. Fantastic for my coeliac partner, just a real all-round gem in Reading.

I visited while in the area for the day and had a lovely lunch. The coffee was really nice and there was a great selection of sweets treats. I also got some scones and quiche to take away which were amazing. A really friendly relaxing atmosphere, can't wait to visit again.

En un mar de cafeterías de cadena que sirven un cocofani de café de mala calidad, corriente del molino, se encuentra el conocido como 'Coffee Van', que sirve bebidas genuinas a base de café expreso, además de una selección de golosinas dulces. Una cadena callejera que no es, y mi Caramelo Macchiato, con su tamaño diminuto y sabores cuidadosamente equilibrados es mucho mejor para ella. Ten en cuenta que un macchiato no es un trago largo (hablando contigo Costa, Starbucks et al) sino un trago corto, con un toque de espuma para suavizar el expreso. Hay una pequeña cantidad de asientos para beber al aire libre, que está bien para un día seco de septiembre, pero podría ser menos atractivo con más inclemencias del tiempo. Aun así, como parada para tomar un café durante su día laboral (está cómodamente cerca del Oracle Centre fuera de las Oficinas Cívicas) , es un gran hallazgo y mantendrá sus niveles de cafeína cebados durante unas buenas horas, ayudando a sobrevivir a esa próxima reunión o dos. Bien vale la pena una visita - y el barista es extremadamente bien informado también!

Fantastic evening at this lovely little venue. First visit for us and we’ll be back. The team there went above and beyond. It was my daughters birthday and they made her feel really special. We went along to the ‘Brush Party’, it was the first one they held there and we 100% recommend, if you get the chance, go along, it’s lots of fun and really absorbing.

Exceptional food. Fresh and well cooked mixed grill. The 2 guys cooking and serving were brilliant and friendly with my young child. Well priced brilliant food

Lots of coffee shops to choose from in Reading; but on this week's stay in the town I've found myself taking my early coffee and snack here. It isn't as busy first thing as some of the others. (If you go into Caffe Nero opposite, for example, you might well get stuck in a long queue.) And I think this shop has one of the best ambiences, with theatrical lighting and chunky furniture. Sometimes they even have a cool jazz playlist on air. I often like a morning cake or pastry. And I've noticed the ones at Black Sheep are some of the best in the main chains. Always fresh and tasty. Not everything's perfect though. For me, they serve an Americano at a slightly lower temperature than their rivals. This has led me to only take my coffee here black. That said, it's good coffee.

Encontré el lugar mientras buscaba alas calientes y cerveza artesanal. Gran sorpresa al encontrar este lugar escondido debajo de 7 Bone. Buena selección de cervezas que cambian regularmente y hay Nintendo de la vieja escuela. El personal realmente servicial también! Todo buen ambiente allí

I was so glad I found this small and fairly tucked away coffee shop. I had a delicious sandwich which was freshly prepared, and an excellent filter coffee - both of which were great value as part of a lunchtime deal. There are a couple of stools so you can eat in, and my server was very friendly and welcoming. This will definitely become a regular haunt!

Qué hallazgo. Fui con mis dos hijos de 12 y 8 años, los cuales son realmente aventureros con la comida. Nos recibió una señora muy educada e informativa. La comida era una mezcla de comidas listas para comer y otras que se podían cocinar en una sartén profunda hundida en la mesa del comedor. Los sabores eran excelentes, tan sabrosos. Volveremos cuando estemos en Reading, y a menudo. No puedo esperar a volver a visitar. Muchas gracias por una comida tan memorable.

Exceptional experience with the team- incredibly professional and even better food. They'd travelled to London to set-up for a birthday dinner, and made the tablescape look stunning. The best thing was that it tasted even better than it looked! 10/10 on all accounts and thank you for making my day so special. Can't wait to come back for more!!

Best takeaway in Reading. The couple who run it are friendly and really take pride in their food.
