Excellent choices for vegan foods have attracted me to the restaurant. I was hesitating between a few other restaurants but I am lucky to have picked yours. First time I am eating spicy flavour food from Mauritius. The Rosecoco Bean daude was mind blowing. I cannot forget the Jackfruit curry all my life. My family enjoyed the whole moment we spent at your restaurant. Good service and cordial environment. I highly recommend it to my friends and families. Of course, I will come soon. xxx

A real gem in Reading 💎. Been here a few times and food is excellent. Dishes are authentic Mauritian cuisine. Lots of choice for meat eaters and veggies. Aubergine fritters and butter bean dishes are recommended. Staff are great and friendly. Glad we dropped in for something to eat here before our drive back.

I went to Reading on a business trip with two of my partners and found this lovely restaurant. Wasn't difficult to find. Excellent food. It reminds me of my days in Mauritius where I enjoyed the vegetable foods, especially the Curry Burry served at weddings in Mauritius. My colleagues enjoyed the 'Special Dad's curry' and 'vanilla and rose allouda' special. The hot chilies were OMG and tasty. I look forward to coming back with my family.

We were welcomed in and seated promptly. The server was very friendly and happy to answer all our questions about various menu items as well as give us some insights into Mauritian culture. We tried some Mauritian cocktails which were highly recommended and didn't disappoint. For starters we shared lamb samosas and octopus croquettes. It all came out nicely hot and served with a flavoursome chutney. All was tasty and the croquettes were especially delightful paired with the chutney. Our table had a selection of cooked to order mains including rabbit salmi, fish vindaye and lamb curry. For sides we shared tomato salad, rice, mix roti and paratha. Everyone was thoroughly satisfied with their meal. My lamb curry was seasoned well and had a good hit of spice. I initially thought the rice portion could be bigger since we shared it between 2 but paired with the rotis it was adequately filling. The ROTIS!? STAR OF THE SHOW in my humble opinion. Super soft and freshly prepared perfect for mopping up the sauces. Will definitely be back again to try out the extensive rum selection and dessert since had no more stomach room left for those delights this time

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant! We came across it by chance and we didn't know much about the Mauritian cuisine before. The food was very very good and I would definitely recommend trying out this restaurant! The restaurant owners and chef were welcoming too😁😊 Would definitely recommend!

went here on the one off with my boyfriend for dinner and WOW absolutely blown away by the incredible friendly service from the owner - hema - who cooked us the most delicious meals we've had for a long long time! she gave recommendations about the rum menu (which was insane!!!) and i think everyone needs to try the rougaille... seriously 5/5 experience am only just leaving and am already excited to come here again and try something new!!! <3

Had a Thursday dinner here and were blown away by everything we ate. We didn't quite know what to expect, but the chef / owner walked us through the menu and we felt super comfortable dining our way through Mauritius with it's cuisine influenced by the world. Would absolutely recommend and we'll be coming back!

We booked for a big birthday party 40 guests at last minute as the restaurant we previously booked cancelled our booking due to an emergency. Upon entering the restaurant the vibe, the decors and the whole restaurant takes you to the island. We were welcomed by the owners and staffs very polite and friendly. Food was excellent including the cocktails. Without forgetting their Mauritian rum . Everyone were happy with the service and food. We had to pre- order our food which was a very good idea specially for a big table. Thank you highly recommended

What an experience this is! Welcomed in by very friendly staff, and what an aesthetically pleasing place it is! A place decorated with love. The food was absolutely amazing and you can tell it’s made with passion and love, and tastes absolutely amazing! Special shoutout to Hemma (if that’s how you spell it I’m sorry if it’s wrong) who catered so well for us and had the time to speak to us at the end, capping off a brilliant visit. 100% recommend

Just been here for the first time. Authentic and welcoming. I went for the smart decision of asking for recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed everything that came out. The staff were lovely, with the chef even coming to have a chat afterwards after recommending her favourites. Will definitely be back!

The place is genuine and we had a warm welcome in a restaurant with a good vibe. It was interesting to taste Mauritius food, which was tasty. However, the portions are small and the prices high. The cocktails were disappointing but the menu of rum is extensive and would suit someone who is curious about this. Overall an experience to be had in Reading.

We had a fabulous first visit here on Sunday eve. And we’d definitely return. Delicious and authentic food, with varied choice options and much enjoyed by all of us. And lovely chat at the end with the owner from Mauritius. Warm hospitality, like we experienced in Mauritius itself. Tables here are named after different areas in Mauritius, which is a bit of fun. The place was quiet but it did give us a chance to chat with the owner/chef(?) who was very friendly. The food was delicious and I could have eaten a second helping of the vegetarian noodles. There were a lot of options to choose from and things that are a bit unusual like taro fritters so it was definitely fun to order loads of various things to try. I’d highly recommend trying and will be going back to try more dishes!

Disappointed with the quality of food Rice cold, Jackfruit Curry tasteless, starters burnt. The service was poor £30 service charge added to bill, Pina Colada £10 each also tasteless. Overpriced food would not return to this establishment.

A real gem for reading. One of the few left indépendent places. The food is incredibly flavoursome with many vegan and vegetarian options. There is the option to chose between hot and mild for each dish. The service is impeccable and very friendly and it's also affordable. If you're looking for a more intimate setting there is also the option to hire a cute little booth inside. I truly recommend this place. Hopefully Reading people will keep supporting them!

We made a reservation for dinner and were greeted by name. It turned out we were the only customers in but couldn’t have been made more welcome. The service was fantastic and the food was divine. We didn’t even get started on the rum selection!

Very kind and friendly staff serving a incredibly delicious variety of food and drinks along with a great atmosphere. My first time trying Mauritian beer and now it is new favourite along with this restaurant. Definitely coming back :)

Wow! What a place this is. The food was fantastic, kind of cross of Indian, African and French. An amazing culinary mashup. We didn't know what to have but the menu sounded delicious. The owners helped us pick a selection of fried starters - with fresh chilli sauce and some Mauritian mains - upside down bowl, goat curry and an octopus curry. Completely stuffed by the end of it. The owners (Yogeetha and Mark) are a lovely pair, switching between chatty best friends, to barman, to waitress, to chefs - who made our evening extra special. Definitely check this place out as it deserves to be hailed as one of the best restaurants in Reading.

What an amazing restaurant! I called as I couldn’t get an online booking and the lovely owner opened just for our table of four for lunch. The food is amazing and just go with your heart or take the recommendations. I even got to choose my fish for the curry! Can’t wait to return and try more on the menu. Today I have octopus croquettes and the fish curry. Both amazing. Go now!

It was pleasure in my reading visit when i was on my trip. Being a Mauritian myself i can say every food i tried there took me back to my country. All my cravings for my country flavor was met and the ambience is amazing.

My partner and I love coming here as the lady who runs it is so nice; she’s an excellent cook of authentic food, is upbeat, makes great cocktails, and is good to talk to. She’s even let us eat there before when they weren’t technically supposed to be open because we’d come all the way in the pouring rain and didn’t realise they were shut to prep for a big order.

Went there for my sisters 18th birthday dinner, after a while it became apparent that they were short staffed as the food took about 40-50 mins to come out, food was average at best. In the end we saw that other costumers were unhappy with the service and some even left without paying. Edit: you’ve got the wrong person in mind, we paid the £50 deposit upon booking as well as over £60 on the night, if by a very small chance we haven’t paid a penny we sure haven’t received any contact from you in regards to a outstanding bill.

Came for a dinner with my family. Food was delicious, especially the biryani. Staff were friendly and helpful when ordering as it was our first time eating Mauritius food. An absolute shambles, was like an episode of Fawlty Towers. An hour wait for drinks, 2 hours for starters and another hour for mains which came without any rice or flat beads we had ordered. The waiter didn’t even know what the dishes were. Can’t comment on the food as we’d had enough of the terrible experience and left. A birthday dinner to remember for all of the wrong reasons! I understand there were staffing issues but no explanation was given on the night and the attitude of the manager was quite frankly rude. What a lovely evening we had here. Everything was perfect, and Hema and Ming were great hosts. The place had a good vibe about it, plenty of pics of Mauritius, colourful with some nice touches. Staff were 1st class, we were quite a large group, and we messed them about a bit on numbers, but it was no problem. The food was 1st rate, all freshly cooked. We ordered in advance, but Hema gave us some good tips for extras to add on the night. I had the Dhall Puri to start, and the flavours were amazing, with a delicious split peas fillong wrapped in a soft flat bread. For the main i went for the fried Noodles. The name doesn't do it justice, it was sweet and smoky with fresh, tasty ingredients - an excellent dish. I have to say that everyone really enjoyed the evening, there were no complaints, which is unusual :). Thanks guys, I'm sure we'll be back.

Had a fab meal for my partner's birthday a few nights ago. The couple who run the business are so friendly and welcoming and the food was absolutely delicious. The lady who owns the business is from Mauritius, so its all totally authentic. It can be really spicy too if you like it spicy (or mild if not!) We tried a wide variety of things. I'm veggie and there were tons of options for me. Everything was really great. We'll be back!

Turned up without a reservation but they let us stay, and I'm glad they did. Friendly staff and beautiful food. We even chatted to the chef for a while about life in Mauritius. Great traditional authentic food.

Very nice food, drink and service

Highly recommend! The food was so delicious, homemade and so authentic in flavour. We loved the themed interior, fish tank and gentle music in the background. Recommend the cheese samosas. The octopus croquettes were also super yummy. For mains we ordered goat curry and salmani chicken. We ordered sides of roti and parantha. The portion sizes were more than enough for us and left overs were happily packed away for us to take home. Everything tasted so fresh and moreish and was topped off with a great Tequila sunrise cocktail. The evening was such a treat.. the chef Hema and her husband make a great team 👏 A new local favourite.. We will definitely be back for more! Thank you so much for accommodating us ☺️

Outstanding from start to finish - delicately spiced chicken starters and light potato fritters, flavoursome curries (lamb was melt in the mouth!), and the roti was top notch. Cocktail menu has the classics and some fab originals too, lots of fresh mixers and a massive rum menu. Staff were attentive and helpful - can’t believe we haven’t visited before, definitely won’t be the last time! Thanks to Hema for taking the time to chat and to ensure everything was ok with the food etc. Wonderful evening!

Honestly I’m upset. Having recommended this place to friends for a night out I lovely meal became filled with drama. To start with I won’t lie the food here was as always great. Curries were rich and flavourful and cocktails were fruity and punchy. But sadly the service and attitude let the night down. We took at long time to sit down and ordered food separately, this ultimately meant we didn’t complete our order until 45 mins after arrival. Starter’s probably came after 45/60min and while most were excellent a problem with one caused an argument. Now at no point is it ok for the head chef/maître d'/owner to come out and berate a customer. A wrong dish was brought out, ultimately you can not say if some one ordered the wrong dish or was miss heard. What followed was a back and forth of I’m right you’re wrong. The “correct” starter eventually came out with the mains another hour so later with a spoon fee apology from the barmaid on behalf for the owner. This was not a busy night, one table of four were also present but they seemed to be finished much quicker than we were. Later on a main was swapped from lamb to chicken because apparently the lamb was too fatty. The waitress/barmaid (I think only three people work here) thought we had been told. Every bit of food eaten was lovely but the service was argumentative, bar the owners husband who was pleasant and chatty and acted as auxiliary waiter. If you go as a small table, expect a lovely meal, go as a group and expect chaos.

Went to the Flavour of Mauritius today in a group of 14 today. Booked a table for 6:45, and starters came around an hour later and then food finally arrived around 9:05 pm. Basically, the food took ages to come, and the food was at most average. One of my colleges had an argument over what she ordered as a starter, the worker wasn't that compassionate and got extremely defensive. Also, the worst thing is that if you're in a group of 6 or more, you need a MINIMUM SPEND OF £25 PER HEAD! I was expecting to spend £15 as I don't drink alcohol, but even when I ordered tap water, that cost me 50p for a "glass fee", which I have never heard of in my life, and quite frankly ridiculous. So yeah, the octopus curry and Rice was ok, but wasn't worth £25. Not coming here again.

Four of us dined here a couple of nights ago and we shall certainly do so again. Good menu, food beautifully prepared and well presented, lovely atmosphere. And the owners are charming. We have some great restaurants in Reading and, for me, this one is in the top three.

I pretty much turned up pretty on opening time. Very friendly staff and the food was great, excellent flavours. I even bought some spices from the spice counter and was given a recipe from the owner. Cooked my first La Daube last night and it was lush (obviously not as good as yours 😉) Will definitely be popping back in! Thanks guys.

First time I went to that restaurant I was quite surprise that there was no music at all.. Coming to the food it was quite expensive for the amount served.. The waiting time was quite long.. The 'alouda' is disgusting.. The service charge is VERY EXPENSIVE and at no point was told it was optional.. Street parking.. The dhall puri is very good but never again..
