Love the decor and the staffs attention to detail. We were never empty and waiting for a drink. Very attentive.

Came for bottomless brunch, We were taken care of from the moment we walked in, would definitely come again!

Lucy and Alicia 10/10. Very attentive, had a staff meeting at the time of our bottomless brunch and kept an eye out for us, were straight to us when our drinks were empty. Meeting be damned!

Good choice of food. Lovely tasting. Atmosphere was great, music just the right level and the DJ picked a brilliant choice of music.

We just did a cocktail making class with Tom and he was amazing. Funny, entertaining and genuinely the best cocktails I’ve ever had, whether that’s me or the teacher who knows 😂

I have had two really awful experiences at this slug and lettuce across the last few months. Truly awful service. First time I visited was in august, cocktails took over 40 minutes to arrive at our table after ordering, I had to go up to ask where they were. Second time was on Saturday for their “cowboy” themed bottomless. The only thing cowboy about this experience was the plastic hats on the table. The booking stated we would get a free shot on arrival, we did not, and it took about 30 minutes for anyone to even come over and take our first order. After placing our first order, it did not arrive, instead we saw the waiter looking confused & he just left what looked like our drinks at another random table who had already had their drinks arrive. We ordered again, the same thing happened. We eventually got our first round in, food came, it was cold. We were constantly waiting crazy amounts of time for drinks to arrive or be ordered. I went up to ask what was going on and the excuse was “we are just really busy”. We complained again and the lady told of another table for accepting our drinks. Once we paid we had really had enough and decided to move on somewhere else, although that was very quickly ruined. We were called and asked to go back as the payment “didn’t go through”. Myself and my friend who was on crutches had to walk all the way back to make payment again and was told the payment we made would bounce, at this point our night was ruined and we just decided to go home. The payment did infact go out the next day, along with the second payment we had made. So our truly awful bottomless brunch has now cost £208. It was very difficult to get hold of anyone here and once my friend did we were told the refund would be difficult to do as it appears we paid for someone else’s brunch? How is this our fault?! Awaiting a response now from head office but this was a truly awful experience, be super careful at this slug and lettuce!! My friend had called and spoke to a manager multiple times now, it’s been 10 days and we are still waiting for the refund for the payment that was taken for another table to be processed. I will not be returning.

Ordered 2 of the big breakfasts here today with my wife we both had cold beans, toast and bacon burnt sausage and part cooked eggs 🤮 not impressed. As we were the only people in the place I don’t think the chef/cook was rushed or under pressure very poor

Did the cocktail making with Tom. He was great and knowledgable. The reason not 5 stars is the lack of natural ingredients and it felt like we were just mixing. Sangria only had lemon, mojito only mint, pornstar martini just ready made mixture and ice. I realise this is what they do in the bar but should put in more effort for a cocktail experience.

Excited as it was reviewed 4.8 which is extremely rare so my expectations were high. But was quite let down. Most of the food - chicken and fish was dry. Ordered a halloumi bao but got a chicken bao. Cocktail was okay. Nice atmosphere and decor. Service was good although they forgot the tap water.

Natalie was amazing-took our late Bottomless Brunch booking and the service and drinks were so good!

Feel like it would only be good if we were in a bigger group, felt ignored a lot of the time, one of us would ask for a drink and then our server would run off to do it but not ask the other two on the table. Disappointed with the drink selection choice, made no sense to charge £10 more per person for 3 extra cocktail choices, the 3 that are more premium apparently are the same prices as the original cocktails on offer so the extra money is going where exactly I do not know….. Our last 10 minutes we were offered our “last drinks” I’m sure we could have had another 2 but our bill was brought to us with 5 minutes remaining which we didn’t ask for because we WERE planning on staying to have the 2 4 1 cocktails, communication needs to be improved massively! Another communication error was at the beginning of our brunch when I asked if we were able to order the salad from the evening brunch menu (too much bread on the morning brunch menu) and the reply was “if I order the salad for you it would be £39.95 for the evening brunch menu” in which the reply from all 3 of us on our table was yes that’s fine, we’ll do that but was then told “no but I can’t do that, if you’ve booked the morning brunch then you have to have the morning brunch.” What is that about? What a stupid rule. Has anyone ever heard of upselling here? Much better options for bottomless brunch elsewhere in Reading. This was the most disappointing one

Thought It was lacking for bottomless brunch but we were restricted as a group of 3 . After it being highly raved about very limited drink range just abit disappointed. Felt like a bad vibe with servers . Won't be back very rushed

Normally have a great time here at bottomless brunch. But today the atmosphere was dull. They were very reserved giving us bottomless drinks even though it was bottomless. Lucy would offer one of us a drink then walk off without asking the other for a drink. Felt very restricted. The food was good though !

Good service with friendly staff

I came into Slug and Lettuce on Saturday for the 2 for 1 cocktails. I was met with great vibes and a lovely young man- Clovis- brought me to a table on the terrace. He mentioned he was new and getting the hang of things, however, he seemed like he was doing amazing and a great asset to the team. Great work S&L!

My curry arrived cold however when brought to their attention they brought a new dish.

Had the best time in Slug and Lettuce, Friar Street. Hayley was an excellent server and had brilliant recommendations for the area. She was very kind and helpful. The service, food, drinks and music were brilliant. Will definitely be recommending this Slug and Lettuce to friends and family☺️
