One of the managers, I think his name was James, was extremely rude to another member of staff, being very domineering and unprofessional. He was not attentive to our needs at all so I think he should take some of his own advice!

Great Sunday dinner. Chose the 3 course deal. Great value for money. Nice bottle of Merlot too. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great vibes. Restaurant busy. Service excellent 👌 food lovely. Some live music at 5pm in the bar which was great background but in no way intrusive . Bar was packed ..so excellent vibe. 5 star again for Cliffhouse. Lovely late afternoon evening visit 😁

Four large pieces of cod. We were going to order three large chips, but the lady suggested two would be enough, and she wasn't wrong. I am very very fussy when it comes to fish and chips, but oh my days. They were the best fish and chips i have ever eaten, saying something when I live not too far from the coast. Bit expensive but you could say you get what you pay for. But, 90p for a pickled onion with average taste - it's an onion!!! Would definitely visit again if in the area.

We go to the Housemartin regularly as it's our local, but don't often eat there. Today we decided to have the Sunday carvery and it was excellent, the beef was tender and there was a great selection of freshly cooked vegetables. The team always make you feel welcome and our dogs are always given an extra little fuss by any staff member passing by. I would highly recommend the Housemartin.

We had a family lunch for Easter and went to the Wheatsheaf as we know the carvery is very good. Our food was lovely and great value. You always get generous portions of meat and have as much of the vegatables as you wish. Roast potatoes were fantastic and service excellent. My brothers young grandson had a childrens meal of sausage and chips. His food was really well presented and he loved it. You cannot beat the Wheatsheaf for value.

We often come the Beachcomber when visiting the area. Usually tea and cake and sometimes breakfast. I booked a table for 5 of us for lunch. After booking I read some of the recent reviews on here and was a little apprehensive. I didn't need to worry! Quick and attentive service. Generous portions and tasty, fresh food. We will definitely be back! Thank you 😊

The lady answered the phone and straight away said hello hold on - I then waited for 5 minutes - I placed my order and was told 45 minutes. 1 hour 15 minutes went past so I called the restaurant back to speak to the same lady, I asked when my order would arrive as my granddaughter was hungry ( was getting late ) we ordered early as knew we needed to feed a child! The lady advised me I should have fed my child which by the way is rude to begin with! We made light of her comment and when she said food was on the way that was that! The lady then called back to ask why we said she was rubbish which we didn’t say even if we had why would you call back your answering a take away phone! However we did not say that. She was very rude and abrupt, we asked to speak to the manager and could then hear the lady in the background talking about us which is very rude in itself! Anyway the food finally arrived to be missing items, when calling back she said it was our fault and it would take an hour for the missing items to arrive I asked to speak to the manager and could hear her in the background saying how she couldn’t deal with us! Working in customer service myself I would never treat a customer in anyway!

We had a takeaway from Oliver’s last week which was delivered to our home. The meal was delicious, but we were charged £1 for delivery, when on their website it is advertised as Free delivery on orders over £15 within a 2 mile radius. I checked the bill later on and saw that we had been charged £1 for delivery even though the meal was over £15. As we only live about half a mile away I telephoned to query this and was told because the price of petrol had gone up everyone was now being charged £1 for delivery. I don’t mind paying £1 but I should have been told this when I ordered the food and they shouldn’t advertise free delivery on their website anymore. We have used them many times in the past and have never had any complaints before. This is why I am only giving them 4 ****

This is the first time we have been able to book the brasserie here thanks to Covid. The entrance via the clubhouse almost made us turn back, with rubbish strewn over tables and the floor, but as we wound our way through a more mellow bar area, we eventually came to this bright and modern restaurant. Too bright really and the room would really benefit from dimming the lights and real candles on the tables, so it felt more like a brasserie than a café. That said, it is surprisingly attractive and pleasantly furnished. The menu is not as published online, which was disappointing, but the options were interesting. We shared a Garden platter and a family platter and also had one soft shell crab and a lamb kofte. The Garden platter was very good with light felafel, tasty onion bhajis, and really good home-made hummus. The family platter was also very good apart from the Calamari which were very rubbery. The softshell crab, which is rarely seen in local restaurants, and the kofte were good too. Most had burgers and chips for mains which were ‘yummy’ both chips and burgers. The tuna steak was enjoyed but was said to taste like beef! I had the South Asian curry. It looked really dull with no attempt to make the dish look attractive. A pile of boiled rice on the plate and a bowl of curry with a handful of chopped cooked chicken thrown in the top and not even stirred in. However, this was gorgeous and one of the most flavoursome curries I have eaten. The waitresses made us laugh as there were three Sauvignons on the menu and we chose the Chilean. The waitress wasn’t sure if they had any and asked for our second choice, so we picked the New Zealand. We got the Australian, but it was fine so we didn’t say anything. We ordered a second bottle and this time we got the Chilean wine! This was a very pleasant meal and with a bit more atmosphere this would be a very good night out. I think the menu is perhaps a bit dear and too fancy for the residents as there were only three tables taken – they need to push this place some more with a few specials nights maybe?

We ate here twice this week whilst we were on holiday in the local area over half term. Very much enjoyed. Service was a little slow on the first occasion (I had to go and find someone to take the order) but on the second occasion that we visited - excellent - a very attentive male waiter who even ran out of the building to return our daughter’s coat which she had forgotten - thank you so much. Food was excellent - good portion sizes (although adult French toast could have been a touch larger for £9.50) but overall, delicious, well priced food and a very good breakfast selection. We will certainly return.

We chose the House Martin for my wife's Post Funeral Buffet as we had 45 guests and they had a large room at the back that could accommodate us all with a buffet style menu. The staff from the Manager down were great and very helpful in ensuring guests had sufficient food and drinks. We were very pleased with the quality of food and service that they provided for us.
