A friendly welcome and generous portions! We enjoyed a hot drink and cake on a damp and blustery day walking along the cliff path. We saw some delicious looking roasts coming out, maybe we'll have one on our next visit.

Best bacon bap I have had in a long while. Seemed to be buttered then placed butter side down on hot plate to crisp before being loaded with bacon, I counted four pieces of good back bacon. Not surprisingly rather busy on a wet day.

I saw this cafe on the web and really wanted to go. We parked and walking towards the cafe we said to each other, ‘Lovely. Just what we wanted.’ The location is perfect, by the sea and the cafe is beautifully done. Very inviting. I wanted this to be great. I did. It wasn’t. A tough review to write because I know that people make gut instincts and then rationalise them in their heads. I’ll try to explain… After we walked along to ‘Pebble Beach’. As we opened the doors the guy said ‘Welcome. Good morning. How are you doing?’, with a big smile. As we walked further in another waiter said something similar. The first guy showed us through the venue and offered us anywhere to sit, explained that there was outside seating. Even the maintenance guy who was fixing a table created some rapport. In contrast, none of this happened at the Beachchomer. The impression we got was begun by the greeting, or lack of it, as we approached the ‘wait to be seated here’. It felt like customers were an inconvenience. Continuing, the sausage bap arrived. A couple of bits of dry bun with tasty sausages. Not presentation. Just on a plate. The red sauce was the vinegary stuff. Cheap. Hospitality is hard. Covid was particularly hard on independent places like this. I get it. The problem is that what sets independents apart from the chains is how you make customers feel. We felt unwelcome.

I’m absolutely appalled with what happened today I’m lost for words. If I could give no stars I would for the attitude and behaviour of staff. Me and my friend wanted to come in for some food and a drink. We were not aware the kitchen was shut which was fine however a waitress came over to see if we are okay and without telling us the kitchen was closed… proceeded to hand over a menu to us and walked away laughing, came back over to ask if we were ok again in a very condescending way and when we asked what times the kitchens open she reply tomorrow and walked away again with no further information. So another waiter came over and told us the kitchen was closed and gave us the correct opening times. Why couldn’t they inform us sooner rather than laughing about it making us very uncomfortable? if that didn’t happen we would have stayed for a drink but felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome.

A regular stop when I’m out on my bike. Great outdoor seating with a cosy vibe inside. The food is better than you might expect of such a location. The menu is fairly broad offering a bit of something for everyone whether it’s a light bite for lunch, or something a little more substantial.

We have been going to the Beachcomber cafe for a long time and when we first started going there it was great value, lovely food and great service. We visited today and paid £35 for two burgers (no chips), a small pot of coleslaw and two cokes. The food was nice, but very overpriced. Service wasn't great. We will no longer be visiting, as their prices have become so inflated, it's just not worth it. Today was a special menu with very limited choices, but I've seen that it's usually £21.50 for a burger and chips. So sad that they are getting so ridiculous in their pricing.

Spent on a meal for 7 people and a simple request of some tap water couldn’t be met. Service was rushed. Staff don’t seem to know what’s going on. Try ordering food at 8pm to be told that the kitchen is over run: staffing issues are down to you as a company not me with an hour of ‘order’ time left isn’t good enough. Cannot order food to then take into the kids club but the year before we could. Really poor all round

We used to visit Beachcomber regularly but I’m afraid this time will be the last. There was no coffee available and no baked beans with the breakfast, added to this, the mushrooms had zero taste and were watery. I’m not sure that the hash brown is worth a mention because it was awful.

(Friday 19 Jul 24) Disappointing coffee stop: I had wanted a coffee and a cake of some sort. The coffee machine wasn't working - filter coffee only and no decaf option. That said, the filter coffee was nice. However, I had a fruit scone and it was poor: dry and powdery inside and VERY little fruit, Sainsbury's taste the difference and even cheap ones from Morrisons are significantly better. I left having enjoyed the coffee but disappointed. I won't be having a scone again.

We have visited the Beachcombers many times over the years, always inviting, warm atmosphere and lovely staff. Unfortunately yesterday left us feeling very dissappointed. The staff on duty were hard put to crack a smile, spent the majority of their time chatting away with each other whilst people were waiting to be seated, when asked for our bill was met with a sullen unsmiling member of staff. Plenty of smiling faces on the photos of staff on the wall behind us, maybe try and replicate that when you are not in front of a camera.

Declare themselves as dog friendly !! went in with a prebooked table as it can get busy having driven 15 miles to get there as it was fantastic when we have been before. To be told that the two dachshund puppies we had with us were not allowed to be seated on our laps and had to be on the floor we were not told in a friendly manner no explanation as to why this had to be and were given no opportunity to explain that the puppies had been carried from the car and were not at all dirty. This would not have been so annoying had we not taken a small puppy into this restaurant in the past on our laps and had checked in their website they were still supposedly dog friendly My husband took them to the car but by this time I was so angry I ordered 2 cups of tea which took forever to arrive and we left having intended to eat a full meal I am happy for the owners of this cafe ( with restaurant pretentious) are obviously doing so well they can afford to turn away business with their attitudes

My wife and I stayed for one night whilst attending a show at Beaulieu. On arrival, the hotel blew us away. Car park entrance was easy to find and is obviously old. Car park is split on 2 levels and can fill up quickly. The front entrance into the reception area is beautiful with a library to one side. Booking in was quick, polite, and friendly. The bedroom was clean and functional although a little small ( but then it is called the snug) clean bath/shower with complimentary soaps/shampoo, etc, and a soft bed. The decor is tastefully done and keeps with the age and character of the building and is in good clean repair. After an afternoon in Lyndhurst (which is only a short walk from the hotel although there are some steep steps to navigate) we took advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktail deal in the bar which again were served by friendly and polite staff. We decided to have an evening meal in the hotel restaurant and on first impression was a warm welcoming area. We were seated swiftly, and it's from then on the night became problematic. Seated quickly, check. menu given, check. water offered, check. water delivered and order taken quick and efficiently, check and then.....forgot about. Bottle of wine ordered and eventually arrived halfway through my starters. The service was ok during our sitting but nothing special I feel for the price. My main meal was overcooked and was mentioned as our plates were collected by the manager who made no comment as he walked away examining the meat left on the plate. Towards the end of the evening, the room lighting can be a problem to read the menu (a couple resorted to using their phone light to be able to read it). On the whole, the restaurant experience was a letdown and over priced. Nearly £150 for a meal for two!!! but was helped at the end by Fay, who couldn't do enough for us, serving us coffee in the garden. Would we stay here again....possibly but I think we would make alternative arrangements for food

Just be aware they automatically add an additional 10% to your food/drinks bill for service regardless of party size. Frustrating if you are a party of 2 on a week day. From my experience the service is no different from anywhere else. I think tips should not be assumed, it should remain at the customers discretion.
