In need of a major makeover and the food although cooked fresh was very bland and the chips dripping in grease and the 'cod' batter was undercooked and no where near crisp - very disappointed in every aspect unfortunately

Some things are nice but never ever get the pork. I've given it about 3 chances and every time it's like tasteless leather. It's obviously been reheated, it really is inedible and must have been cooked days before. Beef is hit and miss. Fish is generally too greasy. Chips are generally nice. Can taste plastic in the gravy from the tub. Curry is nice, so is the rice. Seabreeze, if you read this please sort the meat out so its fresh because at the moment I don't know how you can dignify or justify selling shoe leather as food.

As a family, we eat out often and got fed up of the average run of the mill places we usually go and wanted to try somewhere new and The Wheatsheaf had been on our radar for quite some time so we finally gave it a go and we're so glad we did. This is a proper traditional pub setting and is family run - all the people who work there are amazing and can't do enough for you, they're a credit to the place. The food is absolutely amazing and all freshly cooked to order. My favourite main meal I've had (so far) is the steak and ale pie with chips - I poured mine out over the chips and tucked in and oh my goodness, it was heaven! My favourite starter (so far) is the halloumi fries which are nice and chunky. I will definitely be returning again to try out the Sunday roasts which I've heard a lot of good things about. Can't wait.

I've been going here with my children for them to play and have tea out, for the past 4 weeks. Each week the food has got worse. Yesterday I ordered skin on fries, salad and half of chicken. I got half of chicken and a plate full of soggy fat chips. I ordered chicken nuggets and garlic bread for my children, they got hard nuggets and soggy chips. They had no garlic bread, no salad, no skin on fries and God knows what else they didn't have. Obviously not the chefs fault. The bar staff are always amazing, even though they are on their own doing a million jobs with huge ques. This place is really starting to feel unloved and as if it is just ticking over.
