Quiet little pseudos corner: sandals , notebooks, scribbling, armpit hair, yesterdays Guardian, roll ups. Top place really. Croissant served without butter (a sin in my book), coffee cup really well worn in. Nobody smoking Gauloises outside. Now that would have been great.

At the edge of the river, the George and Dragon stood resolute, welcoming all with its worn sign and warmth like a seasoned friend. Dragonfest 2 unfolded within its embrace, a celebration of sound and colour amid the flickering lights of the evening. The bands performed with raw energy, their music flowing like the river that lapped against the quay. Each note filled the air with a fervour, irresistible and alive. The cocktails glimmered in their glass prisons, each one a promise of delight that did not shy from its duty. We found ourselves captivated by the fire eater, a wild figure who danced with flames. It was bold, almost brash, the way she summoned fire and played with danger. With an uncanny grin, she gave fellatio to the blazing poles, an act that should have been absurd yet felt right in the revelry of the night. The crowd gasped, laughed, and cheered, united in an adrenaline-soaked moment of shared madness. It was the sort of spectacle that would linger in the mind like smoke in the air long after the flames had died down. In the midst of this chaos, I ordered the Dragon fries, a concoction that reflected the spirit of the fest itself. They arrived steaming and heaped high, smothered in a rich chili con carne and scattered with daring chili peppers, their heat mingling with the lingering joy of the night. Each bite was a calculated risk and each mouthful tasted of indulgence—the perfect companion to the music that throbbed through the air. The fries added a grounding essence to the wildness around me, a reminder that even amid the extraordinary, one must savour the simplest pleasures. As the stars emerged above, the night drew long and memories were forged in laughter and song. Five stars are too few for the experience at the George and Dragon's Dragonfest 2. The bands played on, the cocktails refreshed, and amidst the swirling fire and music, we were all momentarily set free. In that splendid disarray, we were reminded of the buoyancy of life, of living boldly and embracing whatever strange joys the night may offer.
