Fantastic place for a meal. Food was 1st class. Nice atmosphere, lovely friendly staff. Prices are very reasonable with 2 main meals for under £14! There are plenty of parking spaces. Lovely clean toilets, too! We will definitely be coming back here the next time we are in the area. Update Dec 2024. Came back for a 2nd time, and we're not disappointed. Food and service were both excellent, and still two mains for under £14! Chocolate fudgecake was delicious 😋 I had a taste before I remembered to take a pic, so please excuse the presentation in the pic. It was perfect when it arrived at the table 😍

Disappointing….both service and food Clearly short staffed when we visited today…..we were waiting so long to order drinks and food, in the end we waved away at a waitress to take our order Mains arrived……but not the starter that had been ordered? We weren’t offered condiments, and no one around to ask, so in the end, my wife had to get up and track down the waiter to get some. Mine was fine, but the wife’s burger bun was soggy…we reckoned it hadnt been defrosted properly. When we mentioned it ((she left it uneaten) when the plates were cleared, we were told that all bread is fresh and it was due to the lettuce being washed… I’ve heard some excuses but this is pushing the boundaries…. In the end the waiter knocked off a whole £2 (!);for the soggy roll . So we paid £47+ for two lunch mains and two drinks! Very disappointed as we came on a friends recommendation. It’ll be interesting to see if they respond…….I’m not holding my breath. I wouldn’t return , even if they offered a free meal next time. On the positive, the surroundings are very nice and we had a great day at the beamish museum.

What a great friendly and accommodating village pub,Georgina is friendly and welcoming,as are all her staff. The christening was a great success and everyone that came said they had really good time. I feel this village pub is going to go from strength to strength, with the upcoming plans.

Toppings should go on top of the cheese not under it. tomato sauce was hardly detectable, base stodgy and spongy. the base was like a cake despite being billed as thin and crusty. if you don't know how to make a pizza, which really isn't difficult, then you shouldn't call yourself a pizzeria
