Very friendly staff lovely environment however my food was cool not piping hot so disappointed

This is a difficult review the venue itself is very nice clean and spacious and modern but the menu in my opinion does let it down we are both vegan and the choice is virtually non existent there used to be a vegan flatbread on the menu but it has since been removed it isn’t that difficult to add a few vegan dishes to the menu and in my opinion it is just lazy behavior by these companies the meal we did have which was the garlic and mushroom bake was ok but nothing startling it lacked imagination and it was like a child’s portion it could easily be made to be a lot better without too much effort or cost but it just looked so basic on the plate which was a shame as it lets everything else that is good about the Hilltop badly down

Me and a few friends came in for food last week and were served a by a young lad called Jack. Was our first time in and explained the menu well and made sure we got our food and drink exactly how we wanted it. I'm sure we'll be back again!

I had a great time at the hilltop , I was served by a lad named Jack bell , we got talking for a bit and he was very friendly and was willing to tell me the entire menu and what to recommend. He had a very friendly feel about him but was very efficient at his job but also found time to talk to customers regular or not. Even though I only visited the once it made an impact in me because of this outgoing friendly personally and makes me want to come to the hilltop again. Service was brilliant from this staff member and really Made me feel welcome.

We took our dog and sat in the bar area with him, the staff gave us a dog bowl and everyone was very welcoming. The food and drinks were amazing and well priced, we will definitely be back.

A quick and inexpensive place to eat

Plenty people in on Thurs. --no wonder because burgers 2 for 1 ,I don't eat them but they looked good and our meal was great for taste and only £14.49 for 2. As they say ( l' LL be back

Called in here for their two people special deal and dessert meals. I had the Gammon grill steak with a jacket potato and a fried egg which was really tasty, hot and well cooked. Sue had the Ale pie and a jacket potato which was also very tasty hot and well cooked. We followed that by sharing an ice cream sundae. We also noticed they offered Sunday roast beef with vegs roast potatos yorkshire pudding stuffing and gravey so we returned Sunday to have two of them and again shared an ice cream sundae. Again amazing meals serviced hot and had to leave some as was served with mash and 5 roast potatos! We can only think they eat more in Stanley? Thx John & Sue Norfolk

Met up at hilltop for first time in a few years to meet friends and for food. Big pub, nice friendly staff, big free car park. Good location. Prices reasonable.

Had a table booked for a meal before going on an escape room. Service was great and the food was lush. That night they had a band on and the entertainment was great.

Took my parents out today for lunch my mum had fish n chips dad had cheese burger thier food was nice Mu daughter and me had the mix and match chicken it was vile I asked to take the salad away as it was covered in sauce and they brought a another one .the food was tasteless boneless chicken wings looked more like chicken nuggets covered in thick burnt batter . I did tell the waitressthe food was terrible and to be fair she offered me a drink or a dessert which I declined ..such a shame as it was a treat for my family but at least my parents enjoyed thier food

Lovely food as always - we came for the Easter party which was really good for children of all ages. Lovely staff, they always give 100% no matter how busy.

Popped in last night staff very attentive and friendly. Nice and cosy atmosphere. We had the 2 pub classics for £12.99 and they certainly didn’t disappoint. I went for the fully loaded chicken strips with sweet chilli and nacho sauce. My partner had the hunter’s chicken skillet. Both meals were beautiful, cannot go wrong for the price. We will definitely be returning, noticed they have quite a lot of live entertainment planned for the next few months, will be a one to add to our diary to make a night of it.

Took my partner in on 26/03/24 at 5,pm The pub was very quiet plenty of space to eat the food worked out at £10 each Drink prices were very expensive @£6 large house vodka as they don't double up for a £ like most pubs We did find staff friendly polite & helpful I also thought the young bar supervisor was great but waisted at that place, I might porch him lol if I get another pub what a shame I did not catch his name be a long journey back to porch him But great guy new what he was doing enjoyed the banter with me

Went for meal on Mother’s Day, adults and children. Sunday dinner awful. Beef tough and fatty, the chicken was awful, roast potatoes burnt and hard, couldn’t eat. Gravy cold. Stuffing was probably the best thing about the dinner. Won’t be back.

Great stake fondue. The size is ridiculous. You could swap out the chips for salard. But then you can' t dip them in melted camembret.

My 1st disappointment, of the Hill Top, ordered Chicken wings and fried wafers (chips), I always like to ear the wafers 2st, to my disappointment my first bite, it was stone cold,...the chicken wings were great, covered in JD sauce, also had dessert...

Food was freezing cold and tasteless.. my burger and fries were reheated and left to go cold again. The onion rings were frozen and cheap and was just batter no onion. My partners mixed grill was meant to be sizzling yet it didn't and the meat was that tough he cudnt even cut or chew it. The egg had been sitting under a hot lamp so was rubbery and hard.. the pop didn't even taste of anything it was more like soda water than Pepsi.. the staff clearly didn't wanna be there.. the girl who served us constantly had a angry face on. We won't be going back as it was disgusting 😒

Food was ok but nothing special, pub was very busy and we were advised that it would take around 40 minutes for our food, it arrived a lot quicker. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Popped in with my daughter and dog mid afternoon on a Monday. Was quiet, dogs welcome in bar area. We had 2 meals for £12.95 offer. I had gammon which was excellent with not a morsel of fat, and my daughter the chicken strips which she very much enjoyed. Both meals were nicely presented. For £20 with drinks as well I felt it a million times better than a Mcd’s or KFC and it was lovely and warm when you walk in!

We are regulars at the Hilltop. Great food, great atmosphere and the staff are what makes the place! Definitely recommend for a relaxing family meal out xx

First visit and won't be the last. We sat in the bar area to watch the football and there were plenty of TVs and seating. Slight wait for food but there were a few big parties in so understandable and we were told, although after ordering. Nice and clean, with friendly staff

Went for Sunday dinner and was very disappointed! I booked in advance and advised needs to be wheelchair friendly and would like to watch the football match and we got the opposite was so awkward to get the wheel chair and was very far away from any tv’s ( there’s a lot of tv’s) also table was only for 4 people when I booked for 5 so was very tight and very close to the table next to us! We ordered food via the greenking app after 30 mins a staff member came over and advised we couldn’t all have beef as ordered, so had to change to chicken. Finally got dinners and it’s honestly the worst food I’ve ever seen! I wouldn’t even give this to my dogs! Was meant to be “best quality beef” portion of mash was so small and the gravy had a strange tangy taste. We also were only given 4 gravy boats when 5 of us. We were sat with our food waiting for staff to wash some cutlery for 5 minutes. The beef was very burnt and chicken looked off. Member staff came over to check if food was okay which I reply not really but she walked away anyway. I’ve ate from the normal menu and it’s always been okay but Sunday dinner never again. Prices for the very poor quality

Booked the Festive Feast for a family birthday and were not disappointed. Eleven of us arrived ranging from ages 2-82 to find the table beautifully decorated in a Christmas theme with crackers. Drinks orders were taken quickly and arrived the same. Service was excellent throughout our visit. Having booked the three courses all arrived together with just the right amount of time between courses taken. Everyone agreed the food was lovely and plenty of it. Three courses for only £17.99 an absolute bargain. You must pre-book for the festive feast. Special mention must be made of Jack who took us through the booking process and served us on the day. We have been to The Hilltop on a number of occasions previously (though not for the Festive Feast) and have always found it great value for money with fantastic service. The Festive Feast was just above and beyond our expectations.

Popped in on Saturday night, late on after having been to Lumiere. Lovely friendly atmosphere, food was very tasty and staff were friendly and efficient

Called into the HillTop for a swift tomato juice which was served over ice, large and spicy with lemon sadly no celery to top it off.

We arrived in a large group but put our orders through in families, they knew we were together but still brought food out separately. So the first people had finished their meal long before the last even got theirs. It spoilt the birthday meal really as we were not all eating together. They don't offer a vegetarian Sunday lunch other than veg and no meat. The quorn sausage and mash wasn't available on a Sunday. So I had to have a vegetarian burger. This was hard around the edges. The cocktails are very good though and great prices.

Just stopped here on the off chance as going past the town, and pleasantly surprised, the pub is beautiful inside and the service accounts for it, and what I loved is the amount you have going on through December Very well done

Usually keep away from these steak/sizzle places, but was so impressed with the choice, quality, price, friendly staff, and pleasant surroundings. My husbands mixed grill was exceptionally good value. So full we couldn’t do dessert

They have macaroni cheese for vegetarians. They used to have vegetarian pie but even took that off ??? Absolutely dreadful now for vegetarian choice

Went for a family meal great atmosphere refurbished recently makes a great local venue. Great service to make my time here an experience. Special mention to Mel michaela and Ashley mll for making my day. The food was great and very reasonable but the drinks we're a bit pricey. Luckily they have a promotion on for discounted drinks. Would highly recommend

Took my son for the BOGOF burger deal which is on every Thursday and can’t be beaten for value. I was served by a gentleman called James who was very friendly and efficient and would not hesitate to return in future.
