Beautiful Sunday lunch and a really nice pub with a comfortable atmosphere and seating: I would definitely recommend!. We had the chicken which was beautiful. Sticky toffee pudding is also divine.

Best pub in Lanchester. Best thing I can say is, "It's a proper pub, with proper people, great staff & well kept drinks"

First time here and had Sunday lunch. Friendly staff and very welcoming. Portion size was great and food very tasty. Very rarely you get a place that actually serves their Yorkshire pudding homemade, which is always a let down, but here it was the biggest homemade Yorkshire pudding. Absolutely lovely. Desserts very nice too.

Myself and my partner booked Sunday lunch for the first time here and were not impressed at all . We both ordered the lamb ( one Shoulder and one leg ) , the meal arrived quite soon but on first impressions we noticed the food was not very hot as i like my food steaming hot i was a bit disappointed . It wasn't till then that we both said , "where is the mash ? " upon looking at the menu it states that you have to pay as an extra , is it me but Mash Potato is a Vegetable that is always served with Sunday Lunch , and with only two roast Potatoes we found that a little bit annoying . Just one more thing more meat would have welcomed with our meal , would we go back and the answer is a big NO !!!!!!!

Not so bad food but pricey for what you get. Visited here for Sunday lunch. Your meat and Yorkshire pudding comes out with the smallest amount of mash followed by a minuscule veg portion. If you are sharing in a group there isn’t enough to go around. Hardly any meat. Not worth the money at all.

Early evening meal was just what we needed. Pleasantly surprised at the quality. No fuss with service and a couple of nice beers. All in all very good.

Good menu selection .We had a hot pie which was tasty, and really large portion, however the chips were overcooked. Staff were friendly and we were served guide quickly.

We went for Sunday lunch yesterday. The meal ok the parsnips were burnt and the portions were very small we had to ask for more vegetables as there wasn’t enough for four of us.

We visited for lunch today and the service and food were fantastic and great value for money. All the staff were lovely and friendly. They even allowed me to purchase two cooked chicken breasts for my dog 🐶 The pub is dog friendly and in a great spot! We are coming back tomorrow for a Sunday lunch as it’s hard to find venues that are so dog friendly (a lot say they are but you are often shoved in the corner out of the way). :)

Wednesdays after 5… Any burger and a drink…. Asian chicken burger very nice with curry salt fries. Can get any burger and choose soft drink or pint. Great deal.

Sunday lunch today not as good as it used to be been a while since we had been so thought we would visit food just warm both lunch and dessert served on cold plates unfortunately we won’t be returning very disappointed

Another amazing meal at this hidden gem, well worth the drive, loads of choice on menu staff very friendly and good surroundings. Well done will be back.

We live a 5 minute walk from The Kings Head and it quickly became our “Local” when it was reopened! We love going on a Saturday evening for food, drinks, entertainment and 10/10 staff! We have always been made to feel so welcome and it wasn’t long before we became so comfortable walking in and having lovely conversations with all staff and 2 very friendly managers! My little boy is on the spectrum and is usually funny around strangers and he absolutely loves the management team! They go above and beyond for my son and I couldn’t thank them enough for that as a lot of places don’t seem to like to deal with SEND kids! Now I used to work as a chef and am very particular on Sunday roasts (my partner would say picky) and I can not fault the roast, or any of the food for that matter, at the Kings Head! Also their sticky toffee pudding is to die for! Hats off to the chefs! To sum up: food/drinks 10/10 Staff 10/10 Atmosphere/decor 10/10 Management team 100/10 Highly recommend!!

Had a lovely few hours in the pub having a meal and a few drinks. We were really impressed with the quality of the meals when they arrived . Mussels and a pie main. Lots of choice on the menu and reasonably priced. The place is decorated beautifully with quirky paintings and ornaments that catch your eyes as you look around. Our dog was with us and made as welcome as us. Very clean tables cutlery and the ladies toilets were too . The staff were very kind and friendly and made us very welcome

Terrible smell permeating as soon as I went in the door ,it was to me like dirty dishcoths and poached fish ,my family weren’t as put off by it as I was ,one said it was possibly fish being cooked but if that was the smell of cooking I certainly won’t eat there. Didn’t order food as smells really put me off ,really needs a deep clean and a new extractor system ,we used to go here often but won’t while it smells so disgusting .

Decent Sunday lunch. Great choice of different meats. Service slightly slow but the pub was full.

We went on Saturday lunch time, pretty much first to arrive so it was very quiet and only 2 other tables in. We ordered the scampi sandwich and a children’s macaroni cheese. The scampi sandwiches had a bucket load of gherkins in despite not listing this on the menu (we would have ordered without) and the chips were so salty they were almost inedible. Had I not been hungry due to abandoning the baguette due to the abundance of gherkins (I sat and picked out about 30 and was only 1/5 of the way down the baguette), I wouldn’t have eaten the chips. The children’s meal (child is 2 1/2 for reference) came in the bowl it was cooked in which was very hot and totally inappropriate for a child. We asked for a small blackcurrant cordial for our toddler and received this in the tallest pint glass they had, which meant he couldn’t drink it himself as it was too tall on the table. We spoke to the waitress after our meal to feed this back and her response was that “everything is normally listed on the menu, I’ll check”. She didn’t check, and we paid full price for our meal. The couple on the table next to us had ordered the katsu chicken curry and she abandoned most of the chicken as she didn’t think it was cooked through. Poor quality for a pub I’ve heard such good things about. We will not be returning

Just had lunch, and my haddock was awful, totally dried up and tough! If the lunch hadn't been a treat from my wife I would have sent it back. Worst meal I've had there in 50 years. The discount of £2.70 was an insult.

Price of drinks have shot through the roof..few weeks ago £5.15 for pint of morretti Now £5.70 Pint of neck oil was £5.10 Now £5.90 City prices for village pub. People won t go soon Also with rival pub opening back up in the village on the 17th January People will just go there. We won't be going again not at those prices.

Christmas Eve lunch time, ten of us served quickly and staff friendly and attentive. New Year's Eve meal & drinks. Lovely food both times. Great folk duo singing good tunes to get you in the party mood. Yet again, it was a great atmosphere. Staff could not do enough for us even reserving a table near the entertainment for when we had finished our meal. Went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend. Thankyou

Food,service, drinks excellent. The only problem is disabled access. At the front door where it looks easy to get into the pub there is a notice saying no parking, so disallowing access for disabled passengers. At the car park entrance there is a very large step to get into the pub which is extremely difficult for people with sticks and impossible for a wheelchair. A solution would be a ramp with hand rails.

Really enjoy Sunday Lunch here always good and sticky toffee pudding to die for. Will have to try their pie and mash midweek as meant to be award winning.

Booked for Sunday Dinner. On arrival we had to put our car registration number in just incase we stayed longer than 60mins. Found this very strange never done this before. The staff are very welcoming and sat us at the table drinks arrived very quickly. We ordered our roast but had to pay Extra to have mash potatoes for our son as he isn’t keen on roast potatoes. My beef was very fatty and the taste was very strong same with the husbands. Sons chicken was better he said. My son had to have a roast as no other choices was offered other than fish and chips. Don’t think I would go for a roast again but might try a different menu when available. Over all we have definitely had better.

This is the first time we have ever been to the Kings Head and we weren’t disappointed, from walking in the welcome and ambiance of the pub was excellent, the staff were amazing and the food was absolutely delicious, we would not hesitate to go back

Called today without a reservation ,the staff quickly found us a table for two ,they were very courteous and helpful . My partner chose beef and I had lamb ,the meals were cooked to perfection with a good choice of vegetables . The gravy was particularly good ,rich dark and meaty ! Considering how busy they were, we were served very promptly. I will certainly return here and would recommend you try it I don’t think you’d be disappointed!

We ate here twice while we were on holiday in Lanchester. We couldn't fault the service or the food on offer. Great choice on the menu which was cooked to perfection and piping hot. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We were told about the car park so it wasn't a problem typing the reg no. A fantastic place to go for a meal or just a beer or two.

Been a few times now with family, always had a great time. Carpark is monitored by ANPR cameras now put if you pop your reg in as soon as you walk in, you won't have a problem! Beware of the parking fines !!!👿 I went to St Bedes School and ex pupils meet regularly here for a get together. There is usually 10-20 of us. We’ve used the pub for years and also book it for Christmas Fayre. On 9.9.23 I went and met up with friends. Spent about two hours in their company and left. Yesterday I received a Parking Fine in the post for £100 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days) Apparently the car park now has ANPR cameras and if you don’t register your car you’re only allowed 60 minutes. I never saw any signs but apparently there are some. But as I’ve parked here dozens of times it never crossed my mind to look for any parking restrictions. I rang Rachel who is The Manager. She at first said she would get the charge cancelled but when I rang back with the Penalty Charge number this had changed to reducing the fine to £20 !! ***Beware of this new regulation*** By the way Rachel… I won’t be back. Hopefully we’ll find somewhere else to meet up which doesn’t penalise loyal patrons.
