The best restaurants in Framwellgate Moor County Durham North East

Since it is half term i thought id treat the kids to a nice little cafe breakfast. The girls are really friendly, the cafe is clean and the choice of food on menu is perfect. It is all freshly cooked while you wait, the kids LOVED the little toy corner - the dolls house, kitchen and blackboard are a really nice touch and it kept the kids entertained while they waited. The wait was small, the kids really enjoyed their milshake and my breakfast was lovely. A really reasonable bill, fantastic and really kind service. We will be back after such a wonderful experience

So, this is a small restaurant in new college Durham. Where students prepare food, serve and generally run the restaurant in order to learn how this is done, great idea i feel. We were served the fine dining menu which was 6 courses, appropriatley portioned to be just right. The staff were great from start to finish, attentive , not overbearing and efficient. The food was well presented and prepared, ingredients paired well and it tasted great. I will return again and again if for no other reason than this restaurant is an amazing resource for the students at the college and needs to continue being supported, the fact that the food was great too, is simply the cherry on the top.

Just recently found this little gem of a café. It's upstairs near the Nationwide Bank on Chester le Street high street. It is very basic and not expensive but the food is worth every penny . Good old fashioned value and good food. If you like good food it's a welcome change to the usual offerings of over priced coffee and loud environments.

Ordered a meal for 4,and wow. Great value for money, very tasty. Delivered promptly. Very happy with the meal, we will definitely be eating there again. Thanks chef. Great food.

Called in here this afternoon for a late lunch (whilst the staff were clearing up mopping the floor) but they still served up a lovely sandwich for my colleague and a beautiful baked potato with prawns for myself. Excellent service all three staff members were very happy to take the order even though they were about to close, well done ladies, will definitely visit again!!!

Visit here quite often so thought I’d do another review more recent than my other one nearly a year ago. However, the words are still the same….. Great place! Super friendly staff, delicious food every time (been at least 10 times!) and speedy service. Highly recommended to you

Fantastic Sunday lunch enjoyed here, at a very reasonable price, absolutely delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Couldn’t fault a thing, beautifully cooked variety of lunches for a group of 8 yesterday. 2 from the senior citizens 2 courses for £11,(brilliant offer & a good choice) & the rest from the main menu. the potato skins were a tasty starter & a good sized portion . The black pudding stack was huge and very tasty with plenty of sauce. Main courses all came in good time and all piping hot , the prawn curry was a massive hit with my cousin, the beef and vegetable casserole with dumpling came in a very rich gravy & tasted fantastic, hunters chicken was amazing & the hot pork sandwich was overflowing with tender meat… homemade chips were amazing and tasty & there was more than enough vegetables and a great variety for us all. Service was excellent & the waitress & barman very attentive & checking of we needed more drinks, and were we happy with everything and did we require any sauces, additional gravy etc. First class service from them both, a credit to the establishment. Ordered our takeaway on a Saturday night it came within 30 minutes it was hot and delicious. It is unusual for any takeaway to arrive on time and be hot but Mumbai managed this I had chicken takeaway masala with pilau rice and spicy chips i would recommend this takeaway/restaurant 😋 👌

Seems to be a shadow of its former self - mainly due to reduced portion sizes, but also reduced quality. The kid's fish pieces and chips came with two thin, flat pieces of fish (see photos); pretty sure these used to be nice and fat. The fish and chips seemed to have a little over half the chips we used to see. The spam seemed to be of a wafer thin cut... No doubt I'll visit again, but only because of their gluten-free capabilities - else, it seems it's just an average chippy now...

I have lived here 42 yrs always used Golden Rice I don't know if it's under new management now they are using justeat because they never have in the past but food is not the quality and taste it's always been so this is my last time ordering from here

Visiting family for Christmas rang ahead as needed to add an extra room on the day of arrival. Staff were lovely and said they had space and I could pay on arrival for extra room or book online which would be cheaper she took my name as I said I’d book online and she said she would keep an eye out for booking and put the extra room next to ours. Rooms were immaculate and everything we needed for a quick visit. Staff are so friendly and polite it’s great staying I the north all so friendly!
