Bistro 1819 in County Durham

Our first visit for lunch. Much better than we expected as this is a training facility. Very good food and a friendly service. Very good value

So, this is a small restaurant in new college Durham. Where students prepare food, serve and generally run the restaurant in order to learn how this is done, great idea i feel. We were served the fine dining menu which was 6 courses, appropriatley portioned to be just right. The staff were great from start to finish, attentive , not overbearing and efficient. The food was well presented and prepared, ingredients paired well and it tasted great. I will return again and again if for no other reason than this restaurant is an amazing resource for the students at the college and needs to continue being supported, the fact that the food was great too, is simply the cherry on the top.

We had a wonderful Christmas Meal here on 18 December 2019. Both the food and the staff were fab. The service was fast and professional. The room was beautifully decorated with candelabra on the tables and two tastefully decorated Christmas Trees. The restaurant was warm, comfortable and welcoming. Well done and thank you everyone at Bistro 1819.
