Dene Valley Heritage Cafe in County Durham

contact before arrival regarding ordering a meal with my unusual requirements already heralded a good choice of place, not big in size but big in soul and atmosphere there, I was taken care of from arrival to departure every second, the kitchen and its chef are a wonder, in the whole of England I have not eaten such surf and turf as here, I was full and happy, the staff took care of every second that nothing was missing. rested and satisfied with although a short but successful trip I returned home

Really faultless tasting experience today - my parents and I loved it! Friendly, knowledgeable staff, lovely atmosphere and really wonderful and unique flavour combinations on some of the dishes! My mum & I had the vegetarian and they were also able to accommodate food o tolerance with no fuss, I also tried the wine pairings. We all agreed it was excellent and exceptional value for money!

Superb! The tasting menu was unbelievable value when one considers the quality of the ingredients and the hours that have gone into developing and preparing each dish. Every course was an adventure in flavour and texture, beautifully presented and well described by waiting staff. Hard to choose a stand-out dish - but the Pollock with Broccoli and Mussels and Trout tart with Beetroot and Chervil were amazing! The wine flight is well worth it: 5 glasses of quality wines beautifully matched to the food and superbly described by a knowledgable sommelier who clearly loves her job! Having eaten at 1 & 2 Michelin star restaurants around the world it's only a matter of time before Faru picks up at least one if not two stars: everything they do is top notch. Great food, lovely dining room with a view into the kitchen and staff who are clearly passionate about food and drink. Oh, and the Rhubarb & Custard cocktail - 'Rhubarb after 5'...... highly recommend and guaranteed to put a smile on one's face from the first sip! A wedding anniversary treat for us - thank you team Faru!!!
