Soami's Trio in County Durham

Have been back here now a couple of times recently. Being honest Indian was not usually our first choice for a meal out but this place has converted us. We were there last night. I had Lamb Kundan Kaliyan and my husband had Lamb Byriani and both were absolutely delicious. It was one of the best plates of food I have had. The service is second to none. Would recommend.

After having been to this restaurant a number of times now, we returned with family who had heard great things about this place. Cannot fault the ambience or the staff, the disappointing thing for us was the distinct lack of meat in our dishes! I had the railway lamb dish and there was only four pieces of lamb. My step daughter and boyfriend had chicken dishes and she said that it was though they had shared one chicken breast between them as she only had four bite size pieces too. We obviously ate the meal as I was lovely and as expected, the only time anyone asked if it was OK was when I paid the bill. Based on this experience, we won't be rushing back. Food otherwise is lovely.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal at this restaurant last night. Very tasty, good service and very friendly staff. We will be back.

I have visited soamis a few times now and the food has never disappointed! The service and atmosphere is truly outstanding.highly recommended by myself,family and friends.

Firstly it's a lovely restaurant and the staff were great.The menu is varied and represents fine dining Indian food ,the only place in consett in fact. we all totally enjoyed our meal,the relaxed atmosphere added to the lovely evening. will certainly be returning.

Another gorgeous meal here tonight, we couldn’t fault it. It’s 1 of our favourite places to go, so we’re regulars now. We didn’t book either, it was a last minute decision so just turned up, and we were welcomed in warmly. Food was delicious, service was outstanding! The atmosphere was created by such a lovely staff team with a great sense of humour. The passion from the female owner shone through when recommending meal choices. She was certainly one of the highlights of our visit.

Soamis is a gem in Consett, everything about the place is excellent. The restaurant is clean and fresh, staff are friendly but it’s the food that really stands out. My wife and I have been a few times this year trying different dishes every time . The food presentation is superb but the taste and variation is outstanding. We have never had a single grumble with anything. Thanks to all the team and see you in 2024.

My husband and i visited tonight due to several of our friends recomendations, and they wernt wrong. We were greeted by friendly and warm staff. The atmosphere was pleasant, a good temperature, not too noisy, nice background music. We ordered drinks and were pleased to see non alcohol beers catered for. The staff were very knowlegable about all the dishes, having tried them all by the sounds of this, and enthusiastic with recomendations what goes best with what, ensuring we would be full without overordering. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, ensuring we had everything we needed but didnt hover or interrupt our meal. The food its self was utterly delicious. We ordered the pickle tray, followed by onion bhajis and tandori surf and terf. The chutney under the onion bhaji was fantastic, and the lamb was a real treat. Mains we had a buttered chicken and Lamb Railway curry. The chicken was succulent and delicious, the butter sauce was creamy and flavourful without being overpowering. The railway curry had tender lamb pieces with nicely spiced, not too hot sauce with mustard seeds and curry leaves. We also ordered a black Dhal which was rich and thick and creamy. Everything was so delicious. Couldnt reccomend a visit higher, well be back very soon

Just moved to area. Friends introduced me to this gem of a restaurant, and I've been a few times since, taking others too. I've eaten Indian food all over the world, Soami's is up there with the best! I absolutely LOVE it! The food is of excellent quality, portion sizes great (and I have a BIG appetite!) Well presented and in good time. The staff are a delight, so friendly, accommodating and attentive. Very tasteful decor and comfortabke furnishings all makes for a brilliant dining experience. This is one place I'd highly recommend!
