This family run business has delivered sweet platters, afternoon teas and Christmas goodies to my family on numerous occasions. The owner's wife would always take the time to have a chat with my elderly mother when she delivered to her. As I live abroad this personal service meant a lot to me.
29/9/2023 Absolutely brilliant food, selection, freshness and the staff are wonderful . We have been before and this is one of the best places to eat healthy and tasty in St Albans. Their recent introduction of schnitzels is a great idea; one of the best I have ever had….fresh, tasty and crispy.
We came here for a meal & the atmosphere was amazing. We were welcomed by the staff & the food & drinks tasted amazing.
Alex and Robert made sure we was happy before we left.
Highly recommend
We were round almost all Kings Lynn looking for an independent coffee shop with whole milk not semi. This lovely little place did a lovely whole milk latte and gorgeous Portuguese pastries. Very friendly and great ambience
Lovely little cafe, with homemade food. My sister and I had the breakfast, freshly cooked and delicious. Service was excellent. Menu changes daily and Ann made you feel welcome. Good cup of coffee too! Will definitely be going back again.
Lucky to be in the right place at the right time as it only has limited opening hours. Friendly staff, well cared for real ales, lots of choice and good soft drinks. Thoroughly recommend if you are in the area.
A rainy day so I had lunch at the Haven. A very healthy and tasty tuna jacket with a simple fresh salad and a pot of Yorkshire tea. Friendly staff and a very popular place. Best of all, by eating here you are supporting St Nicholas Hospice.
lovely meal and good service, had the sticky beef and noodles followed by the brazilian seafood stew which was fantastic. others had steak, all dishes were first class. hopefully everyone will now know you are open as a great addition to Mersea.
Wonderful independent cafe, with incredible food and service!
Service - owner and staff incredibly friendly and hugely welcoming
Food - wonderful savoury and sweet delights - huge selection and great to have variety of portion sizes too (e.g., my mum was not overly hungry, so had a bite sized treat. I had a bigger appetite, so decided to have a bigger pastry)
Drinks - coffee (hot and tasty). Have good selection of teas too.
Wonderful little tables outside - great on a warm day.
I came across this little gem of a cafe accidentally and was so glad I did. As it was later on in the day I had a decaf which was superbly smooth and had a great flavour. And the chocolate brownie was to die for. Plus super friendly and really quick service. I totally recommend this place!
Meeting here with lunch. Bruno who looked after us was wonderful. Amazing place steeped in history of racing. Lunch simple Christmas fare but delicious.plenty of private parking and overall a great place to meet and then socialise. Loved it
Had a very pleasant Sunday family gathering here (24/9/23). The live rock covers band added to the party and thankfully our table was deliberately reserved for us away from the band as we had a small toddler with us who slept through the music. The staff were friendly and very attentive and the relaxed atmosphere made the selection of hot and cold tapas very tempting. All my family thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience and we shared a considerable chunk of the menu. As most of the food is authentically imported from Spain a few items were unavailable but we were expertly guided to suitable alternatives.
I wanted authentic, good quality tapas in a genuine Spanish style restaurant and that is exactly what we got! I have no complaints,so thank you El Chigre 2, we will be back soon!!
