After looking on the website I decided to treat my fiancé to a night away. The room I wanted wasn’t available but booked another one. I have to say the room was large and comply, with the addition of fresh milk on offer if you wish to have it. The restaurant was very busy but guessing it was due to the special offer of a Sunday stay., Chloe and Elenor were brilliant under the pressure, well done girls. Christian was on the breakfast shift he was very charming and very attentive. So overall a pleasant stay.

Don’t understand the ‘mixed reviews’ Tonight was typical of every takeaway we’ve ever had (and that’s hundreds over 15yrs) - batter on the cod was light and tasty - chips were perfect - chicken bites succulent . Always a big debate in Wells who does the best F&C - for us it’s Platten’s.

The picture does not do the food justice 3 large pieces of sirloin and the Yorkshire like my nanny use to make we are both big eaters and were stuffed !!! Asked for extra gravy which was so tasty. Nothing was too much trouble 👍 Will we be dining at the blue bell again absolutely. Guys this is one place you must visit 5 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

We were told we arrived too late for food and as we weren’t eating we couldn’t have a drink. We sat for a rest and when we asked if we could just get a coffee and cake we were told that if we didn’t like the policy then we knew were the door was!!!! I kid you not. This really happened

Apparently had to get used to " dealing with tourists again ". Went for a coffee as like to support local small businesses. There was a lady hanging around the counter , she asked the male if he was ok and the tourist comment was his response , along with rolling eyes . I asked for a coffee and a tea and was told he had no tea, no explanation or apology . I wasn't that bothered so just got the coffee but I thought the tourist comment was very patronising and I'm sure those tourists keep his business afloat for the year . I would not go back .

Visiting North Norfolk in February means wrap up warm ... we were there for the Fri & Sat 14th 15th Feb and having visited The Red Lion previously chose to return on the Saturday. We didn't book ... we should have ! Didn't expect it to be busy in the Winter months but all tables around the enticing open fire were taken ! The staff however were incredibly helpful and friendly and suggested if we had a drink in the "back room" they would come & get us when a table came free out the front. True to their word 20 minutes later we had a lovely table at the front section of the pub, the drinks were great and we chose one of the "specials" which was steak pie and it was ... special ! Best way to describe it is Beef Wellington style pastry rammed with tender steak chunks on mashed potato with gravy & greens. Absolutely amazing ... just what was needed on cold night !!! Thanks to all at The Red Lion, have visited before and will certainly visit again ... next time we'll make sure we book !!!
