As a group of walkers we felt lucky to have found this new stop on on of our favourite walks. The drinks and cake were just right and we had a very friendly welcome. Spotlessly clean, especially the toilet.
I thought we'd lost him! Imagine my delight when I recently discovered he was still there, every morning from about 8am until 3pm or so, just around the corner from where he used to be, tucked in between Paragon Stainless & Howdens Joinery, itself next to Go Bananas and opposite Jump Street.Order the Girly Stick and get what amounts to a full English - er - Scotish(!) - breakfast in a half baguette, with a cup of tea (free refills!) - all for £2.50! And it's great food! He has a wider choice of sauces than anywhere I know. I always go for mustard and hot chilli.Go as much for the camaraderie and conversation as for the actual food itself. Joe's is a local institution. All the local tradespeople go there. Catch this iconic local venue while you are here - you will be glad you found it!
The former Poppy’s tea room, The Secret Garden is a really cosy little nook in Trinity Street, decorated to look like an indoor garden. The food is lovely and inexpensive and the staff are great, especially Skye, who is so friendly and cheerful, a real delight!
Definitely going to be a regular visitor.
Attended as a group of 4 friends, three of us were first time visitors
The choice of Pizzas was superb and the quality outstanding
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and will definitely visit again
Great value
Tasty home made food, good value for money, very clean restaurant and toilets. Lovely bright cafe with a good vibe. Busy but not too busy, plenty of space between tables.
We had a nice snack there. The staff are very friendly and extremely interesting to see the archaeological dig at the back. Prices reasonable. Worth going to.
We booked the restaurant for a Curry Night fundraiser for our charity, Open Road. Rim Jhim Spice gave us a great deal and could not have been more accommodating. The food was superb, with an extensive and generous set menu, the service was excellent and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everybody was so complimentary afterwards and the 40 plus people who attended all committed to make a return visit. Just brilliant all round.
Absolutely brilliant place to go for a yummy everyday breakfast and today a fabulous afternoon tea for mothers birthday. Happy, friendly staff, thank you very much xx

Son's girlfriend did an order over the phone she was told 30 mins food would be ready to be collected, on arrival the chip shop was busy, said our name and had to wait over an hour and half for the order to be done, the lady who was serving got some customer's order wrong. After getting our foods we did enjoy it, seating area with 4 chairs was tidy and clean, busy all the time.
