Rim Jhim Spice Indian Restaurant in Colchester

We booked the restaurant for a Curry Night fundraiser for our charity, Open Road. Rim Jhim Spice gave us a great deal and could not have been more accommodating. The food was superb, with an extensive and generous set menu, the service was excellent and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everybody was so complimentary afterwards and the 40 plus people who attended all committed to make a return visit. Just brilliant all round.

The staff were welcoming with a smile, friendly, polite, professional. The restaurant was clean and smelled very fresh with crisp white high quality tablecloths. The table setting pristine. The menu was just the right -amount of choice covering the usual dishes and tempting specials. We ordered a selection and enjoyed very much every dish we ordered. The price was in line with other restaurants but how wonderful and pleased to note no service charge automatically added. This meant we were happy to leave a tip. We enjoyed our evening and we will definitely be back. Well done and thank you for running a great restaurant which we very much enjoyed.

Quality is consistently amazing at Rhim Jim & our latest visit was no exception, me & my wife went with our friends & everyone had such a good time. Such a solid Indian restaurant & the staff are really nice too & we had such good banter with them. They also sell a retro Indian dessert called a Fantastica, it’s like a gourmet Vienetta for one!!!!

Great night. Food was fabulous and service was spot on!

Just had a takeaway and collected it. The food was appalling compared to how it used to be! My king prawn shaslick starter had two prawns the tub was filled with onions. The chicken dansak had 4 small pieces of chicken and everything including the wild dishes was ridiculously hot! What an absolute waste of £70! Never again.

1st class food ! If you like indian food ,you love it . Best curry in Colchester!! Will be going back for sure . Plenty of parking . If your a party of 4 ask for a booth a little more private.

Proper curry house. Had fast service, beautiful food and best chicken chat I’ve ever had, I mean that! Sadly we were full by time it came to mains but we tried every dish we had. You won’t be disappointed, the staff are amazing and friendly!

The best curry house in Colchester by far. Quality of food is great, portions sizes are generous. Piping hot food. The staff are very attentive and cater to juniors. Only thing that could be improved is the “shoulder to shoulder” capacity. You’re located far too close to other diners.

My friend and I love Rhim Jhim, the staff and the top quality food. We were going to use the takeaway service this evening and priced up 3 mains 2 spl rice poppadoms and 1 nan. When we worked out it came to over £76 without delivery charge and with no weekend discount...is expensive. We therefore did a local comparison with the lion of Bengal and Maharani one came out £23 less and the other £25 and discount is applied to the Bengal. I appreciate that Rhim Jhim having won awards is very nice food. However there is only a certain price it is worth. Therefore we are taking our custom elsewhere, sorry Rhim Jhim.

Absolutely brilliant little place to eat, the whole family had a blast. Amazing food and the waiter went above and beyond to make it a great meal. Also helped with allergies which is highly appreciated. Would 100% come back. A shame we don’t live local. Would give 6 stars if I could.

The restaurant is not the nicest to look at inside or out. We really liked the friendly service though. Food taste was just ok for me and my partner. Certainly for the price the portions were good value. Not memorable for me as a BIR. But good for the locals.

Best Indian restaurant in Colchester! Came here for my dad’s birthday and so happy we booked. Food was amazing and the staff were super friendly, especially our waiter. Made us feel very welcomed and gave excellent service. Our waiter helped with suggesting vegan options and the Rogan Josh was our favourite. We will definatly be back again soon! Thank you :)

We had a takeaway a few weeks ago which we thought was quite disappointing. The portion size was great, which is good considering the price point. The food was however pretty bland, the Madras wasn't even remotely spicy and the chicken in it was tough and chewy. Needless to say we won't be back.

Went here on 31/1/25 for the first time. Met at entrance by polite waiter who took my jacket. We were shown out table. Our drinks and food order orders were soon taken. Each coarse was was delivered at appropriate time. The food was delicious, the service first class. The best Indian meal I've ever had. I shall return soon.

Didn't dine in the restaurant I had a takeaway worst curry I have had it was cold and small portions and very over priced got told good things about rim jhim but I should have ordered from somewhere else my son doesn't eat curry so had the chicken and chips the chicken was a battered chicken burger you would get from ice land for £1 and there was a toddler size handful of chips in a small plastic box and that cost around £13

Although it does not look much from the outside the food and speed of service were amazing. This was our 16th different curry house as part of an essex curry club and it will be number 1. It could do with a lick of paint and it felt a bit squashed but this was overshadowed by the amazing food and service.

I had a nice experience here , the food was amazing , there are many dishes to choose from and they are very tasteful, various spices used which is very good. The staff members were respectful and very open to explaining what the dishes meant and what they contained.

I couldn’t stop myself sharing this review as we had the food from here for the first time and it was truly amazing. Especially the people who were serving was totally awesome make us feel special. I must say best Indian food in Colchester so far. I have tried others as well but never had such authentic flavours. So, definitely recommended 😊👍

Paid £70 just to get the worst stomach ever! Waited over an hour for the food and 20 minutes for them to bring the drinks over. Korma tasted okay but left me fighting more my life on the toilet. Misses had a chicken madras and it was the most bland madras she's had that lacked any flavour. Servers are about as useful as a chocolate teapot, constantly bumping into you, slow and make no sense when they're talking to you. They had customers coming in for collect orders who had been waiting for 2 over 2 hours. You honestly couldn't pay me to go back to this place.
