I’ve been in Colchester for five years and have struggled to find an Indian restaurant as good as good as where I used to live. I thought we would try here with a takeaway. I can see why they have won an award for the best Indian in Essex. All the food was cooked to perfection. Great service from all the staff. After visiting, I will be sure to come back to eat in the restaurant. I’m told the Sunday Buffett is worth a visit for. Thank you. I look forward to coming back soon. 😋

Always brilliant food here. We normally get it to take away but decided to eat in as my parents were visiting. The service was some of the best we’ve experienced and the food, as always, was great. If you’re in Colchester and love a good curry, come here!

Barely made it on time but was able to order take out. Calm atmosphere, food was delicious. Next time will ask to make it spicy.

I treated my son, who lives locally, to a return visit here. Service is always excellent and despite being very busy on a Saturday night, our food arrived quickly. We shared Poppadoms, Prawn Puree and Onion Bhajis to start. To follow I enjoyed Zara Chicken and my son had a Vindaloo. Portions were large so we took some home! We’ll be back …

Food was ok (lost a star, because the keema naan seemed be lacking any mincemeat) / Staff were polite and even offered us a free drink at the end meal.

I am a regular at Rhim Jhim for both takeaways and dining in. These guys are the best out there and have to say is the best Indian I have ever been to, I feel so lucky it’s on my doorstep. I have been to many Indian restaurants across the country and this beats them all hands down. I’ve never had a bad meal, each dish is unique and they do not use base sauces like a lot of the other local restaurants. I will keep coming back for years to come, the service is faultless and I can’t get enough of their food. So much so in fact I’m back tonight! You can see why they are an award winning restaurant. Personal favourites are Lamb Naga, Chicken Zara. A great range of specials too you won’t find elsewhere. Give it a try you won’t regret it, I will warn you though once you go once you’ll be hooked.

Treated my family to a meal at Rim Jim and although I wasn't able to join, the feedback I received from them made me wish I had! They had a fantastic time and raved on endlessly about the excellent food and outstanding service they received. Would definitely have to pay a visit myself.

Just got back from a meal out, me and my wife and 2 kids. From the moment we arrived they made us feel very welcome and were great with the kids. The food was on point, and we love a curry so we eat in quite a few. We are here on a family break so unfortunately aren’t local, but would 100 percent make this our regular if we did. Lovely little complimentary glass of whiskey and tia Maria for my wife was also a lovely touch.

Easy to see why rated number one. Good food and good service Our evening spoiled a little by a noisy table of 4 lads 12 feet away but this does not detract from the excellent food and friendly service. This was my first visit and will definitely be back. Well worth the 10 mile drive.

Always first class food and service I've tried most of the menu and it's all banging

Went here for our wedding anniversary. Fantastic food, friendly staff and also wonderful atmosphere. We were given complimentary drinks at the end of the meal, not because it was our anniversary, it’s something they just do here. We did however have an extra dessert with a candle in it to say than you for choosing them to celebrate our anniversary. Loved it, would definitely go back and highly recommend.

We had a delightful experience at Rim Jhim Spice during our first visit with my vegetarian wife and two of our kids. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming ambiance.The menu had an extensive range of vegetarian options, which was perfect for my wife. She particularly loved the dish recommended by the owner which wasn't on the menu, which was bursting with rich flavors and perfectly cooked. My kids couldn't get enough of the buttery, soft Naan and the delicious lamb and chicken tikka, which had just the right amount of spice for their young palates.The service was impeccable; our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations that catered to our dietary preferences. The food arrived promptly, and each dish was presented beautifully, making the meal a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.The restaurant also provided a cozy, family-friendly environment. The staff went out of their way to ensure our kids were comfortable, offering kid-friendly menu. It was clear that they valued their younger guests as much as the adults.Overall, Rim Jhim restaurant, exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of delicious vegetarian cuisine, exceptional service, and a warm atmosphere made it a memorable dining experience for our family. We look forward to returning soon!

Amazing, so welcoming and lovely food

I absolutely love the Rim Jhim. This was my local go to Indian Restaurant when I lived in Stanway. I have never come across another chicken tikka madras that's as good as this place since relocating.

Me and my mum had a fantastic meal at Rim Jhim this evening. Being Bangladeshi's ourselves, the food went completely above our expectations! I would highly recommend this restaurant. The service was on point from the second we entered to leaving. All the staff were fantastic.

the tikka masala was decent, but i bought rogan josh and chicken korai as my other two dishes and they were completely indistinguishable from each other, and also bland. they also forgot the naan, and even though it was delivered eventually i'd already eaten everything and there was no reimbursement. the naan was also bland, predictably. personally, i cannot understand the very high level of 5-star reviews. this tasted like very average buffet food to me. there are far, far better places out there

We went here 6 months ago shortly after they won an award and it was excellent. On return now it was completely different. I can only think the chef has left as the food was totally different to the point that previously it was one of best curry’s I’ve had to today where it was one of the worst. Really disappointing.

Came here on a Saturday early evening. Surprisingly plenty of tables available but had booked in advance. The food here is fantastic. Traditional Bengali cuisine and menu with very high standards. Service is quick and efficient if a little bit uniform as opposed to charming. Prices are ok. It’s rather unassuming from the outside but very typical inside. A place I think most people will revisit as it’s clearly maintaining quality of food.

What a great place. 5 of us when for a curry. My first time there and not the last.the food was amazing,tasty and hot. The staff were first class especially the man that owns it. After dinner he brought us over brandy and white rum. Check this place out you won’t be disappointed.
