Titash Indian Restaurant in Colchester

It was out first visit to the island and we went out for a walk. We popped in on the off chance as we love a curry. They sat us thankfully next to the radiator as it was so cold outside. The service and food was deliciously fantastic. We like things a certain way, saag aloo vindaloo hot for example, they were very accommodating. Locals very friendly, we chatted to a lovely couple. We would definitely recommend and we will visit when we come back to the island again.

Yet again an amazing takeaway. The Tarka Dhal is always spectacular. The service is great and all the food tastes freshly cooked. Highly recommended!

So 5 of us( 3 fellas n 2 ladies , all just friends ) from work decided to have a night out for something to eat , top food ,top staff ,highly recommended 👍👍

Great food very friendly staff who do not rush you ,we took our 16 year old grandson for his first Indian restaurant meal and he loved . Was busy we takeaways but restaurant was not so busy ,would highly recommend just be aware the portions are quite big .

Ordered online. Delivered in less than a hour. Phone me ten minutes before it was delivered to reception at caravan park. Great food, well cooked, good price. Shour out for delivery driver, she was spot on with timing.

The family and I dined here recently, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. The food was average at best, lacking the rich flavors and authenticity I've come to expect from Indian cuisine (I have experienced a huge variety) . What made the experience even less enjoyable was the extremely slow service. Despite the restaurant being busy, the staff seemed overwhelmed and the personal touch that enhances a dining experience was completely missing. Overall, it was a disappointing visit, especially compared to other Indian restaurants where service and flavor take center stage. I wouldn’t rush back.

Visited here with another couple on regatta Saturday so was expecting it to be busy. Whilst the food did take quite a while to come it was delicious, clearly freshly prepared and not the usual generic curry most places serve up. We had a table in the middle of the restaurant but didn’t find it cramped. We all really enjoyed our meal. Would definitely recommend.

Vidiloo perfect very spicy but still can taste the curry. Not over done with oil and staff are very friendly.

Food was ok. Main issue as far as I was concerned was that the service was inattentive and the tables were really crammed in. You were so close you could hear all your nearby fellow diners conversations. Also the vibes after we had finished eating seemed a bit strange, like they couldn't wait for us to leave. Wouldn't bother again.

Great place for a Friday night curry whilst away for the weekend. Was very busy but didn’t have to wait long for our food. Food was very good and lots choice. Staff were very attentive and had great sense of humour. As it’s busy you do need to book. A great find!

Excellent food as always. Be prepared for a very lengthy wait for food on a Friday or Saturday evening though. Even at 6pm on a Saturday it was packed. As the restaurant caters for a large number of takeaway orders, the bar area is always full of locals having a beer whilst waiting for their takeaway. This slows down massively the service to the diners in the restaurant. We waited nearly an hour and a half for our food to eventually arrive and some of it was only just warm. Several diners who had even ordered before us got up and left. We wanted to order desert but decided it wasn’t worth waiting for an hour for some sorbet. Best to go midweek and out of holiday season to experience the best restaurant and service. This has happened several times now so will definitely steer clear at a weekend as they can’t cope with the demand.

Fantastic experience served by Sha. This is one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to (and I’ve been to a few in the City, South East and across the UK!). Food was scrumptious from start to finish - I ordered the Chicken Shashlik, with sides and peschwari naan. All among the best I’ve had. My dad had an almond and coconut vegetable curry which I tried and was delicious. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was the service which was a bit slow (note 7pm on Friday bank holiday). Additionally, I am hard of hearing and the carpets and cosy atmosphere really helped with the acoustics - it wasn’t too noisy, Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and return! Many Thanks to the team.

Came here for sisters 40th Very nice food I'd have given it top 5 stars had it not been for the cokes being poured from a bottle and charged over £5.50 for 2 glasses. Don't mind if it's from a pump but felt like that was taking the mick a bit.

This is the third time I've been to the Titash. And I'm sorry to say that each time I've hoped it had improved, but alas I find the food lacking (my vegetable rice was very small and floating in oil) The decor tired (the inside wall needs replastering and painting). And very over priced for what you are served.

To start off it's a BANGLADESHI restaurant and comes no where close to an Indian restaurant, only the name is Indian. Asked the waiting staff about the restaurant they said they are from Bangladesh, the owner too and the food as well. They said the name was only to lure in the white folks. I would call that fraud in a way. Would not be going back anyways and would not recommend if someones looking for Indian food. Maybe if they wanna try Bangladeshi cuisine.

we ordered a takeaway online, what a great experience, so easy to do then titash rang to say on their way, driver really pleasant and friendly, turned up on time, the food was amazing, must say one of the best Indian meals we have had, highly recommend and will be getting another very soon

Really good Indian takeaway food from some really good people. Been going here for a number of years and couldn't fault them or their food.

A strange and disappointing experience. Our meal itself was average (not brilliant, but ok). However, the odd thing was that we ordered a Bombay paneer side dish. When it arrived it was obviously not paneer, but some other cheese such as mozzarella as it had melted and was stringy! Not paneer, and not the right texture for an Indian meal. We said to the waiter that it wasn't paneer, and he said that customers preferred the mozzarella type cheese. This seemed unlikely! This waiter was perfectly pleasant. At the end of the meal, another waiter came to ask if everything was ok. We said yes, apart from the paneer dish. Things then got quite surreal, as he then started to argue, quite aggressively, that paneer just means cheese and that any cheese can be used. We disagreed, and said we weren't going to pay for something that had been misrepresented on the menu. He continued to argue, and refused to let it go even when I asked him to please end the conversation as I was getting uncomfortable with the fact that he kept arguing. It was only when I told him he was upsetting me that he desisted. The dish was removed from our bill, and he did come back and apologise, but the experience ruined our evening.

Delicious dishes and great suggestions of what to try. Really enjoyed it and will be back when we come around that way again.

Food is authentic and tasty. The staff are amazing, helpful and knowledgeable. Following a mix up with our booking they accommodated us without fuss. Loved their humour too!

Ok Indian, that's as far as I would go

I had dinner there with one friend on 1st August 2023. The food was reasonable but the garlic naan was so thin (and slightly overcooked) that it was hard and tasteless - not thick, fluffy and tasty. It could have been cardboard! Given that everything else was OK, I decided not to say anything, but when the waiter came and asked how everything was, my friend mentioned that the food was good but the naan was not to my liking. The waiter seemed to be offended and wanted to know, precisely and in detail, what was wrong with it. When I explained, he picked up the naan with his hands rubbing it and turning it over. He said that was how a naan should be, that it was how they always did them, and that they had never had a complaint. He added that, if he brought me another it would be just the same. I replied that I couldn't eat that one now, as he had man-handled it so I would like a replacement, slightly less cooked. He brought back a replacement which was marginally better but not much and I ate about a quarter of it. With hindsight I should not have asked for a replacement but for the naan to be taken off the bill. Overall, the service turned an experience that could have been rated 3 or 4 into a poor and unenjoyable experience. I also thought the price was expensive at around £75 for 2 people with no starter, no dessert, no wine, no coffee - just 2 mains, 1 shared rice, 3 side dishes, 2 beers and a water. We paid the bill but I will not be returning.

The food was excellent, except for the naan bread which was crispy on top and hard at the base. A replacement was given after some discussion but, as the waiter predicted, it was much the same because that, according to him is how naan bread is. Our efforts to explain that naan bread should be a bit doughy failed. If you do eat here and try the naan please post your conclusion.

Tried this restaurant a couple of weeks ago what a pleasant surprise, decor is like going back in time food was great, and large portions, manager and staff were so friendly and helpful can’t wait to go back

The food is terrible! I could of cooked at home instead. DONT COME HERE. If I could give zero star I would. I tried to order another dish to see if it might taste at least eatable. BUT NO. There is better restaurants out there don’t waste your money.

Dined in ,food very bland ,starter of shish kebab and shami kebab were very hard no flavour at all ...2 King prawn dishes ,king prawns had a weird texture again no flavour ,sauce was watery like it was made from a cheap gravy ,will not be returning ....

The Biriyani arrived in 30 seconds, it was old, microwaved, and tasteless, and dripping with oil. The draught beer was £5.80. Old onions also taste grim when microwaved. To add to the joy of this we were asked a few times in a row if we were having take away despite already drinking our beer at the table.

Ordered food and as I took a bite into the Samosa started chewing and something wasn’t right looked at the other half of the samosa . And there was blue plastic sticking out. So I rang them and they Said they would replace the samosa. This wasn’t helpful as it put me off the rest of the meal. So sent the samosa’s back and binned the rest. They said they would make it up next time I order. No refund . All pictures been taken for proof.

A local told us about the Titash. We found it very easy to book a table considering the size of our group. The service was good and the quality of food was fantastic considering half the group don't do spice.

Was expecting a wao factor in terms of species but was disappointed to be honest,we ordered different dishes so we could taste the difference but all was blant.we could not taste the difference at all.secondly the food is overpriced.from the curry to the nan bread/chapati .plus I was overcharged .there is always a first time and last time .can't be bothered to drive back all the way

I was nearly put off by some recent reviews but glad we went. Dined in and had a really nice meal, decent service.

Not bad main dishes but very expensive sides (rice & naan) and very slow delivery even though local.

Visited Titash Restaurant for the first time this evening, very saddened to be insulted by a very Racist White British Elderly Couple, clear bullies, ignorance will prevail however they will never forget this evening, they better believe it! People of Colour are highly educated people, and will defend their dignity, what goes around comes around. Manager was very gracious and took the time to speak to us as we left, and was shocked by their behaviour 😳 Black lives Matter, like it or lump it, we are all human beings.

First time visiting and having a takeaway from the Titash and was very impressed. We both agreed that this was our new favourite Indian restaurant. I had a biriani but with a madras sauce which was one of the best I have had in a long time. Chutney tray was amazing too, lots of choice. So we went in to order our takeaway and the chap that served us (sorry didn’t get your name this time) was lovely, we opted for delivery and it came right on time. We now cannot wait to get back!!

We went here last night ..been to this restaurant lots of times and usually very good ..but last night was so different the food was very very bland and tasteless ..they must have a new chef ..We won't return here again im afraid !!!!!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING

Not sure if the chef has changed but got £35 worth of food last night and can honestly say it all went in the bin. The taste was so so bland with no flavours at all. I had 2 spoonful and just couldn't eat Any more. Will not be going here again! Food seriously gone downhill since Corona.

The worst experience ever. We was packed in like sardines, the dips that come with the poppadoms were water down so badly you couldn’t even put them on as they run straight off, and tasted of water. How is mango chutney runny like water ? . The service was awful no care at all. So over priced I noticed a bottle of wine which is £6.00 in the supermarket and was £26.00, I’m all for making money but wow that’s daylight robbery. When our food was ready to be placed onto the table the waiter came and said move your drinks and then just slammed the hot plates down. I did try and talk to a waiter but he wasn’t interested at all. We won’t be returning, over priced and not nice.

My boyfriend has a soy and dairy allergy. I have a plant based diet. The staff and service here couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful. Titash itself is very traditional Indian with beautiful Indian music and the food was absolutely exquisite. Best place to eat out in the whole of Colchester - truly!!

Used Titash for a delivery for the first time whilst staying overnight in West Mersea as tourists. Absolutely fabulous food which we couldn’t fault and very highly recommend. We loved West Mersea and will return. Will definitely use Titash again when we do and wish it was our local!

An overnight stay in West Mersea and had dinner here. Really great service and the food was really good, loved the different accompaniments for the poppdums, especially the coconut. Can recommend the chicken tikka vindaloo, king prawn pathia, mushroom rice, keema naan, tandoori roti and aloo mushroom accompanied by the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. The only criticism was the king prawn puri to start was a bit salty but otherwise lovely. Highly recommend.

We just had the best takeaway from here. On holiday so wasn't expecting such quality. The meat was amazing. Seriously 5* food. Kids also said it was the best!

My prawn biryani was too dry & sticky & the prawns were like bullets . I did tell them this was my 1st order with them so you think they could have done better .
