Al llegar nos llevaron a una mesa con no cubiertos. Un miembro del personal, literalmente tiró 8 cuchillos y tenedores en la mesa para establecer allí. No hay servilletas o cualquier otra cosa. Nos quedamos muy impresionados por el comportamiento grosero. Nos levantamos para ir al buffet y me dijeron a sentarse y que íbamos a ser traído entrante. Un poco de comunicación hubiera estado bien! El primer plato era dos cubos de pollo cebolla un duro correosos bhaji samosa y un pequeño. No me gusta la cebolla bhajis o samosas, así que cuando voy a un buffet es porque me gusta elegir lo que quiere comer. El buffet no era mejor. Fue limitada y la carne era duro y difícil. No volveremos muy pronto. No podía salir de allí lo suficientemente rápido.

El camarero nos dijo que pregunte si desea más pero es un buffet debe mantenerlo abastecido. . . No lejos tan bueno que no volveremos! ! ! !

Nos fuimos para una comida familiar. Hemos tenido llevar desde aquí, pero esta fue nuestra primera vez en el restaurante. La comida era deliciosa y el servicio fue rápido, aunque no era especialmente concurrida. El precio era excepcionalmente razonables. Pagamos alrededor de £125 para 5 personas, incluidos cuatro cursos y dos rondas de bebidas. Una noche encantadora familia.

I've moved around quite a bit with work/job quite disappointed I had a korma and found it very waterey everything else fabulous rice, Nan all good korma just not creamery just like water very disappointed won't be buying again ☹️

Bland tasteless 6 dishes on buffet choice

Weekday evening 6 choices from Buffet is not really good was told they have 12 dishes at weekends wish we were told thst before seated water everywhere on table & floor from leaking ban maries. Food tasteless & bland never again

We had a brilliant meal here food was delicious and all freshly cooked. I have also had takeaway which was equally nice. Starters not that great but curries are the best ive had!

Habiendo estado aquí antes de que tenía ganas de volver! Lamentablemente, el restaurante ha perdido algunos de sus puntos buenos. Siempre se nos ofrecieron un plato de verduras o carne, ahora parece que sólo consigue lo que está dado, sin finura a la placa como en el pasado, más aún fue la corte decepcionantemente en platos para ofrecer patatas fritas y nuggets de pollo. El curry ahora leves o moderados, y la comida era en el mejor de tibia. Si este cambio es para alentar a las familias con niños, que supongo que es adecuado, pero si quieres un buffet que le da una opción en sabor, calor y especias, entonces le. Vinimos incumplidas y decepcionados.

Three stars given for the food, it was one of the best Indian meals we have ever had, & we have had many, but the attitude of staff towards us was diabolical. We had pre-booked a table for two, on arriving at the restaurant a young lady escorted us to a table of 8 & we sat down. One of the waiters, who seemed to be one of the managers, came over, took our drinks order, raised his eyes when we asked for two halves of lager, not pints. Took a while to bring menus & then we had to ask for poppadoms etc. We called another waiter over, who also looked like he was a manager, to order our food, he asked us if we were going to wait for our friends to arrive, as we were on a table for 8 people, he then had a go at us for sitting at that table as there were only two of us, he was extremely rude, even after we explained that the young lady had sat us there. His attitude towards us was atrocious for our whole visit, if he had asked us to move to a smaller table we would of done without question. The only saving grace was the food, which was really good & excellent value for money, however it was spoiled by the attitude of the staff. It's a good job we are thick skinned!!!

Sadly, after seeing the reviews, turned out not to be the tasty takeaway we were hoping for. The rice dishes were fine, but the meat dishes lacked any flavour.

Just finished a takeaway. Usually go to the restaurant as it is my favourite but decided I was too lazy tonight. Arrived quickly. Hot. And just as delicious as it is in house. The best Indian I have ever had. It never disappoints

Good service, good price and good flavours. Mixed starter was ok. Mains, a chicken Biriani, a chicken vindaloo and a chcken chilli masala. What spoilt every dish was the tough, and dry chicken. What should have been tender and succulent was a chore to chew. The tarka dhal, rice and veg curry were fine. Great shame so I would not go back.

Food is fantastic and the service is excellent. I lost my faith in Indian restaurants about 15 years ago but I thoroughly enjoy every time I go to Bombay Palace or have a take away. And just in case you didn't realise the food is quality and amazing and the only reason that I write this review is because the team at BP deserve to do well. And no I'm not a fiend or a family member !!

I had avoided coming to the Bombay palace as had a bad meal here a few years ago. A friend recently recommend it so I thought I would give a try. Turns out it had been taken over in the last year and I'm so glad I came back.By far the best Indian I have had, and have been back 4 times since.The food here is very traditional, extremely tasty and plentiful. Prices are also very reasonable, and the staff cannot do enough for you.

We went for the buffet lunch on Sunday. Wouldn't say authentic Indian but adapted to the British palate. Good selection of starters delivered to your table and then main course is a help yourself buffet.

I took my large family here to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday. It was a mixed age group and some of the party were vegetarian and others ate meat - not everybody liked food which was too spicey and some liked it hot! The entire party was catered for and everybody loved their meal! The vegetarians could have anything on the menu with the meat being substituted with quorn. The children had mild curries and the elderly had food which was not too spicy! It was a fantastic atmosphere and the waiters were very obligining in serving the cake that we brought in on individual plates for us all! It is a wonderful restaurant and we will definitely be going back there!

Half way home from a week in Suffolk and we were hungry so stopped off in Colchester. Hubby fancied a curry (as per usual) so we found this on trip advisor. It's opposite Colchester Town centre station. From the outside it looks run down, and shut despite advertising opening from 12noon. Shops around it were also a bit run down. But at 12.30 a light came on and inside was a totally different picture. A huge place very clean and modern looking. We were the not ones there but were served by very friendly staff. A meat or veggie option stater was offered. Beautifully presented cooked fresh for us. Hubbies veggie samosas looked plump and were pretty spicy...Meat option had one onion bhaji, one chunk of chicken tikka and another meat thing (spicy) tho all of us (inc kids) ate it all. The when all the mains were cooked we were off to the buffet. They obviously cook according to number of people in which is great. 2 rices and plain an bread, lovely veggie curry not overcooked, and a channa bhaji. Mild chicken korma, tikka masalla or achari suited us, there was a chilli chicken too. Lamb achari and prawn saag too. Lamb was really tender which it often isn't on buffets. We all enjoyed it, and when other people started coming in at 1.30 they cooked more of whatever was needed. We all had seconds even the kids and it was a bargain at £9.95 for us and £5.95 for the kids. All stuffed and it only cost us £40! The range isn't as wide as some but the quality was really good and cooked fresh, so I was happy. Wish I lived closer! If we are travelling that way again I will return! Note that on Sunday's its 12.30 opening. I would really do something about the outside tho as it looks shut and not at all inviting - if it weren't for Tripadvisor I would not have gone in!

Took well over an hour to deliver a JustEat order because they were 'too busy' and only managed to offered us a free poppadum or a soft drink as compensation. I will not be ordering from here again!

We had a takeaway from here on Saturday and have to say my husband liked his but I felt it was quite oily and its not sat well for 2 days. Think I'll try somewhere else in future.

Really fancied a curry on a Saturday lunchtime and most Indian restaurants in Colchester only open in the evening. We googled and found that the Bombay Palace opens 12-2pm, when we got there from the outside it wasn't obvious that it was open on closer inspection it did say it was open. We were the only diners but they made us feel very welcome. The place was spotless and the staff were continually cleaning in between serving us. We ordered a lamb madras and a pawn makhani, rice, naan bread and bombay aloo. Everything was cooked to perfection, fresh and very tasty! I couldn't eat all mine so they very kindly put it in takeaway containers for us. Lovely meal at a lovely clean and well run restaurant.

I found that the variety of food was not great. Two different sorts of rice, naan bread, two vegetarian curries, one prawn, one Chicken Korma, one Chicken Saag, one Lamb curry 3 more chicken curries in variety of strength (mild, medium,strong). This was at a cist of £9.50 per person. Starter was no option available, one Onion Bhaji, one small shish and one piece (diced) of chicken flavoured with Tandori spices. At extra cost. As was the dessert at an extra cost.Although there wasn't much variety the food was of good quality.

First Indian takeaway since moving to Colchester, wasn't disappointed.Delicious food and excellent service.Would highly recommend and will return.

Recently moved to Colchester and have tried several Indian takeaways, this place is beautiful, the best, clean, fresh tasting food, the lamb sheek kebabs are gorgeous and more Pakistani style not like the horrible red things you normally get at an indian takeaway, madras is perfectly hot spicy, (I love really hot food) Bhuna is gorgeous, parata's are spot on and gorgeously flakey, they will happily customise your order ( thank you chef for my extra garlicy Tarka daal) and without a doubt we will vIsit the restaurant soon, won't get takeaway from anywhere else now? This is the best.

Ordered a takeaway from Bombay Palace as I wanted to try somewhere new and the TripAdvisor ranking was high! I was not blown away, but equally I was not disappointed.The food arrived in good time by a very polite driver. Poppadom was good, chutney not bad but the onion salad a little weak - Obviously the chef cannot change the strength of the onion.Meat samosa was very good - crispy on the outside, and aromatic on the inside, mint sauce was a tad watery but not bad. Onion bahjis were again pretty good, high on flavour, if a little rubbery on the outside.When I took the lid off of the curry there was a pretty thick layer of oil sitting on top which was a little off-putting at first. I poured that away though and what was left was a very good curry indeed. I ordered Green Chicken Masala, and it was a good level of spice, very flavourful, great undertones of coriander. Really impressed. Naan was a bit stodgy but again nothing major.Overall, not sure I'd rank it as my favourite Indian in Colchester, though I may well return!

Found this place on Just Eat a while back and will not order Indian for delivery from anywhere else now.The food is full of flavour, delivery is generally on time and the price is very reasonable. They don't overdo the spice (I can't handle much more than medium) and the sag aloo in particular is divine.

after being to this restaurant before and receiving exceptional service and food I decided to book a table for me and my boyfriend. As soon as we entered the building we were welcomed by a very friendly man who assisted us to our table. There is a big selection of food and drinks on offer, we had the mixed starter, a main each, a side order and a dessert. On top of this we were also given popadoms and their gorgeous mango chutney (we finished a whole bowl we had to get another)! The food was absolutely delicious there was no faults with that at all. I am a very fussy eater and asked for a lot of infredients to not be added to my curry (such as onions, tomatoes etc) which was not a problem for them, they sent me out the curry I asked for without the ingredients that I didn't like which I was delighted at as many restaurants would not do this and I would find myself picking out the bits I don't like. Their desert menu is my favourite with a range of unique deserts such as ferrero Icecream (which my partner had) and orange sorbet in a real orange skin which I had ! I have also had the coconut Icecream from this place before which is served in a coconut shell. This desert is one of my favourites which I would highly reccomnd. Lastly what I want to mention is how amazing the service is. Every staff member is so friendly and will go the extra mile to ensure you are comfortable and have everything you need. Also the only place I have been where one of the staff will walk you to the door and open the door for you when you leave, they really do go the extra mile. I would highly reccomned this restaurant . It's one of my favourites in Colchester and I will definitely be returning.

About 10 of us recently visited the Bombay Palace on a works event. In brief, the food was amazing and staff very helpful and accommodating. Had one do the best curry I've ever eaten. All the food come out together and all the plea went cm empty.Would highly recommend.

We come here on regular basis. Usually for the buffet menu on Sundays. Never been disappointed. I am intolerant to MSG which you can find is being used in some of Indian restaurants. This one doesn't add it to their food. And it tastes great!

Ate here for their Valentine's dinner special....cannot fault anything at all. Meal was delicious,the waiters were very attentive & recommended a dish to my husband which he really enjoyed. Made us feel very welcome & I cannot wait to come back.

Just got home from our Valentines Day meal. I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. The staff are amazing. Attentive and polite. Nothing is too much trouble.We couldn't manage a dessert as we had so much for our starter and main. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. First time we have been to the resturant having read the other reviews we decided to go ourselves and I must echo the majority of what others have said the staff were brilliant and the food was exceptional we will definitely be going again.Please do not be put off by the location of the restaurant there is a car park just over the road that will cost you 50 p to park in or get a taxi you will not be dissapointed.

The four of us had take away from the Bombay. The decor is as most hip Indian food joints are becoming - very Bollywood!That aside the food was very good and washed down with the ubiquitous Kingfishers all went well.

Have seen Bombay Palace many times whilst stuck in traffic. But like so many haven't bothered going because of parking/access etc.Was suggested to myself and some friends to give it a try. So thought best try it... wonderful really really loved it... something new for me.on the starters salmon tika what a culinary delight... Service was amazing. Just enough contact by the waiters sone places are 100% ott. Here you felt at ease to talk to eat and to drink.Please folks don't be put off from lack of parking... walk..cab... train whatever but try it.. yiu won't be disappointed

This is my second review for this place, but I wanted to share the excellent service I received the other day. We ordered a takeaway from Bombay Palace and the food was great as usual, however, we had an issue with our delivery. I contacted the restaurant via Facebook and they apologised and promised to resolve the situation the next day. True to word, the owner visited us the next day to resolve the issue, apologise and also brought us some complementary snacks, which was completely unexpected but we were very grateful. The owner really showed that he valued our custom and thanked us for highlighting the issue. We will be ordering again from them very soon. The new menu is delicious and the staff are great!

Had a takeaway, was blown away by the amount of positive reviews on here, but i cannot say i echo some of the comments i read.The food tasted pretty much like curry at home - out of a jar. It wasnt horrible but it simply wasnt great.I am losing a little faith with trip advisor, it shocks me how so many 5 star reviews for this place exist.

We went to this after looking at reviews on here for a family meal with our 7 year old and 8 month old sons and we was not disappointed. We decided to go for the Sunday buffet the food was out of this world and there was a really good choice of curries to choose from. The staff were amazing from the moment we entered the staff couldn't do enough to help staring with helping lifting the push chair up the steps and getting the high chair for our baby. They brought unlimited popadoms for him and were joking around as he was crumbling them and laughing. Our 7 year old loves cucumber and after finding this out it was like a conveyor belt as the brought more out for him it may seem nothing to some people but these little things made our family trip that little bit more special. We as a family would definitely recommend and will be returning there in the near future. We couldn't have felt more welcome if they had tried.

As a party of six we ate at the Bombay palace last Saturday night .The resturant was comfortable and the staff were pleasant and polite , we all have eaten in many Indian restaurants all over the UK we all ordered dishes we had eaten many times , starters including , garlic musrooms , prawns in poori etc , main courses , chicken shaslik , one of our parties always , always eats chicken madas , all these dishes were hot and I mean hot !Hot to the degree they were unpleasant , the staff attempted to add yogurt to some of the dishes , however the result was we did not enjoy our food , every dish was to hot , for this reason we will not eat here again .

Well I've eating in ALL the restaurants in Colchester so I can tell you The Bombay Palace is Definitely Not One of The Best Restaurants in Colchester, it is without doubt 'THE BEST RESTAURANT IN COLCHESTER!'Don't be put off by the location, think hidden gem, parking may sometimes present a bit of a problem but there is a car park over the road, the building may not exude kerb appeal but that is only the outside, it's the inside that matters that's where the food is that's where you eat. Very friendly staff greet you on arrival, there is a bar area so you can have an aperitif before the real pleasure begins, and trust me this is going to be a real pleasure! The new menu is something to behold. With a choice of 27 appetisers and starters it is always a job to get started but I think 'Rajshahi Potato Egg Chop' is a good one to start, and what about the mains all the usual and traditional mains are there but the specials are really SPECIAL and unusual. I love the 'Wild Duck Breast', and what about a side of 'Broccoli Bhaji', fresh broccoli cooked with finely chopped onions and freshly ground herbs and spices with a touch of butter wow, 10 out of 10. There are nine rice dishes to chose from, Sag Rice is a good one and with a good choice of breads, The 'Palace' is still the only restaurant I will eat naan bread in because they know how to cook it! I know nothing about the desserts because I'm always stuffed by the time the dessert menu arrives.So go on give your taste buds a real treat and visit The Bombay Palace I promise you will not be disappointed.

Me & my son had the nicest food there last night that I have had in a long time. Wasn't sure wot I wanted so I let them choose for me & they didn't let us down. Absolutely fantastic. Staff are really nice & friendly topped of by the cleanest restaurant u will see in a while. Will be going back very soon to try the banquet. Thank you.

We came along expecting the buffet that the restaurant used to serve and were dissapointed when they told us they no longer did buffet (except on a Sunday) but we could have their special deal of a 'banquet' for £10 each.WE chose from their extensive set menu for the buffet, a starter, main, sides and accompaniments - poppodoms were included too.In short, we had a filling meal, a couple of drinks, plus coffees afterwards for £17 per head - deserts looked nice and were cheap too, but we were all full.The food actually was excellent - fresh tasting, plenty in a serving, and TASTY - you could actually tell the difference between dishes!! Which is novel for similar restaurants in Colchester!!!So, Im giving it 5 stars, because it was good value, excellent food, great service - even if we didn't get our buffet!!!

It was my first Indian takeaway ever and I will definitely be a returning customer be it takeaway or sit down in the restaurant.I tried this place based on reviews research and variety in menu. I am vegetarian so I find it difficult to find suitable food.10/10 for the whole experience. Bombay Palace I will definitely return to you. And I would recommend this place as well.

It pains me to ever write a bad review about any kind of takeaway service but Bombay Palace was so bad, I just couldn't stop myself. Delivery time was nice and quick and on time despite the driver not able to find the house, not much conversation from him though. Forgot our veggie samosa's so tried to call through several times with no answer. Purposely ignoring my calls? It was only 21:40. Curry was tasty and spicy however pappadums were burnt and prawns were overcooked. Found sharp pieces of plastic in sag paneer and mango chutney. Never ordering again and I will be calling until the phone is picked up to make a formal complaint.

It pains me to ever write a bad review about any kind of takeaway service but Bombay Palace was so bad, I just couldn't stop myself. Delivery time was nice and quick and on time despite the driver not able to find the house, not much conversation from him though. Forgot our veggie samosa's so tried to call through several times with no answer. Purposely ignoring my calls? It was only 21:40. Curry was tasty and spicy however pappadums were burnt and prawns were overcooked. Found sharp pieces of plastic in sag paneer and mango chutney. Never ordering again and I will be calling until the phone is picked up to make a formal complaint.

Been to the palace on a few occasions and it never disappoints. Food was superb, took a little while, but it was busy and demonstrates that it is all freshly cooked. Only problem was with the drinks or lack of, no prosecco, no rose, settled on a nice white.

Lamb with rice was nice needed. Samosas weren't crispy like they normally are. Overall great

I took my partner here for a date last night and first impressions weren't great, the parking is lousy and the location is stupid but that's all the bad,When we went we were greeted by extremely polite staff who seated us quickly and brought over drinks and poppadoms, our order was cooked and on the table very quickly and my god it was the best curry I have ever had I mean like wow,Very well priced £20 pounds per head, That's for a starter, main, side, rice and naan bread including drinks it was amazing will go back

deliveries are getting later and later, 1 hour late last time

Fantastic food, one of the best Vindaloo in Colchester. The Mixed starter was fresh and full of flavour. salad was crisp and fresh as if straight from the garden. Delivery time and service was prompt and courteous, definitely recommend and will use again.

Arrived quickly, very polite delivery guy, food was OK but meat was a bit tough and the lentils were undercooked.

Bloody love love love this place. We always orfee from here and have never had a problem. They deliver on time and the food is amazing. Once your tryed you wouldn't want to go any where else.
