Came here randomly on a Sunday night as we fancied a curry, and were pleasantly surprised how great it was! Super quick food, staff were lovely and we had probably the best chicken tikka masala we’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back! Thanks

It may be in need of a bit of love and care, but Curry Tandoori consistently delivers excellent food. I've been eating here for 40-plus years and I honestly haven't had a bad meal. There are other very good curry houses in Colchester, which I occasionally visit, but Curry India is my go-to.

Beautiful food and great Service. I loved the Chi Balti and atmosphere and the staff were really friendly, would recommend this as the best Indian in Colchester.

Jhabindra and Krishna will look after you royally. Actually, specialising in Nepalese curry, Curry India never disappoints. Takeaway is great value if you have cash and collect yourself. The food is even better if you dine-in. Best in the City!

Service and atmosphere was ok however I unfortunately got food poisoning from this place, 6 hours after eating here for dinner I was throwing up every 15 mins and had diarrhoea I’m sure it was a one off but I would avoid

Had a works outing here had a really good meal, the place is obviously popular as it was busy but the staff were still friendly, 👍🏻

After spending 3 weeks in India, I really wanted to experience the amazing food. I have tried many indian restaurants in Essex to chase that same taste and Curry India comes fairly close - maybe too much tomato in the Butter Chicken but it was still incredible.

Have eaten here many times and the food always lives up to expectations, especially the lamb bhuna. Staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Curry India Restaurant serves really tasty Indian food. They have lots of different dishes to choose from, like curries and tandoori items. The place feels cozy, and the people who work there are friendly. If you like Indian food, you should definitely check it out!

મેં ઓર્ડર નાખ્યો અને ૧૫ મિનિટ પછી એ લોકો એ કેન્સલ કરી દીધો. બઉ સારૂં ફૂડ નથી આ લોકો ખાલી મીઠી મીઠી વાતો જ કરે છે. અમે પહેલી વાર ગયા હતા તો જે વસ્તુ મંગાવી ન હતી એ પણ મોકલી ને એનો ચાર્જ કર્યો હતો જેમ કે સલાડ અને ચટણી અને ખાસ કહેવાનું એ કે એક ગરડો માણસ છે જે બૌ ખોટી ખોટી વાતો કરી ને તમને બહુ મસ્કા મારે છે

Booked a table for 13 of us, birthday celebration. Was absolutely perfect !! Staff are so friendly and efficient. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Got everything exactly right. We had a brilliant time. Definitely the best indian restaurant in Colchester.

Spent the first 18 years of my life going here with my family, the owners are some of the kindest people we knew, and the food was the best Indian in the area!

Very bad customer service. Ordered something and they bring something else and they argue based on it. Also charges extra which we dint order for. Very very disappointed and not at all recommended.

Really unacceptable service. Got different food than what we ordered and charged extra for the things they bought by themselves without our knowledge. When questioned they said that u already ate the food. Not recommend.

Always great food either to take out or eat in. It’s often busy in there and can be tight so I prefer to take away. Still, eating in is great too.

Bad customer service, food inedible just stale warmed up leftovers

Had a meal here last Friday and couldn`t believe my eyes when I saw the cost of the vegetable dishes. They offered 2 sizes, a standard `side` dish at £7.95 and a `mains` at £9.95! Since when did curry house sides (Bombay Aloo, Chana Massala, Sag Bhaji etc) cost £7.95?? I queried this with the waiter and he said to me `we dont use frozen veg` as his explanation? I had a Lamb Madras main which was in a very stodgy sauce. Wont`t be coming back.....

As always excellent meal with great service. Popped in (as it's my local) on the odd chance they had a table considering it's valentine's Day and they did. Highly recommended.

Very overated, bit of a grubby place, seating arrangements are rubbish, food hit or miss, been twice, won't be back.

We made a telephone order Friday night and were told 40 minute wait. This was perfectly acceptable on a Friday night, but we had to wait another 20 minutes before our food was ready, and we were not offered a drink whilst we waited like most curry houses did. I realise Fridays are busy, but an apology and a drink offer would have been nice. The curry was nice and warm but was far too salty. The poppadoms were very thin and broken up and the pickles were not very nice either. The rice was not too bad, but the naans were also a bit thin and slightly disappointing. The price was pretty good though due to the 15% off for cash deal they do, but unfortunately due to the saltiness of the masala sauce and poor chutneys we are unlikely to use them again.

Delicious food, good value and generous portions. Staff are professional and attentive. Highly recommend the Aloo Gobi and the Gurkha beer.

My boyfriend loves this restaurant, and he said is the oldest in Colchester. Nice and tasty food, but always, I don t know how, we manage to order too much…

Food is slightly on the pricier side for an Indian but well worth it as it is delicious! Service has been fantastic every time we've gone in.

I had a very nice meal on Wednesday 28th December with a group of friends. Very busy restaurant but the service was excellent and good value. And yes the decor does need updating here and there.

We have experienced many takeaways and they've always been "spot on " so we decided to dine in. It was perfect, the staff were lovely with the grandchildren.

A lot of reviews talk about the decor, it isn’t that bad. It’s your typical curry house old school. Service was polite and efficient. The food was average. Onion Bhaji was over cooked but not hot in the middle and the samosas were average and bit greasy. My curry was labelled as hot with 3 chilli rating, it wasn’t spicy at all, was tasty enough but a bit sweet. The nan was nice and fresh. Prices are a little steep for their specials, considering I had very little chicken, also the chicken was quite tough. My wife’s chicken was also dry. I have better curries but also much worse.

Restaurant decor outdated and not much space. Service ok, but felt rushed. Wine just plonked on table for us to pour ourselves. No ice buckets. Food star of the show, extremely tasty.

I have dined in at this place on occasion, but I prefer it for the take aways. I cannot say that I have ever had a bad meal here. I do believe that, on the whole the meals are pretty good. They are sporadic though, and sometimes are better than others. However, on the whole ; I have had a lot worse. Not a bad place. I had a really good curry the other night. It isn't cheap, but, as far as I percieve; nothing is nowadays. Give them a chance. Some of the reviews I have read are a trifle unfair.

Awful, bland food is an understatement almost meat and two veg material! Service was absolutely appalling, more interested in serving the drunk party where they could get more money than the rest of the restaurant that were drowned out by the noise. Avoid, summary overpriced blandness and un-attentive staff there is much better in Colchester.

An excellent Indian restaurant in Colchester. I visited with a party of 7 last night and they served a range of curries, starters etc which were all excellent. I had the garlic chicken methi which I thought was fantastic and sampled various others as well. In my view this is definitely up there with the best Indian restaurants in the area.

Had a takeaway prawn curry, rice with a roti circa £17. Oily and tiniest prawns I’ve ever had. Quite flavoursome but definitely not value for money - won’t be rushing back!

Love this place , always a great atmosphere

Great as always!! Had the Mish Mash curry that had lamb, chicken and prawns in it. Just the right amount of chilli in it for me and the flavours were amazing!! Will be having that again.

First time at this restaurant and found it very disappointing. The bombay potato was awful. The potato looked as though it had been cooked about a week ago and then reheated. The nan bread was too thin and not nice. My husband loved his lamb jalfrezi, the lamb was tender. I had a dansak which was ok but not stunning. Unlikely to go back.

A girl does love an Indian at least once a month! A girl like me is very particular about where I get it from as I cannot tolerate any spice higher than mild. Curry India is in my opinion one of the very best Indian restaurants & takeaway that you can have in Colchester!! Eat in or takeaway the food is of the utmost deliciousness you can get...... This time I had it delivered & it came in these reusable containers, the smell emanating from them was like "omg I can't wait to dig in" variety. I ordered for my guests & myself the king prawn special as well as chicken tikka biriani, lamb biriani, mushroom rice, chicken tikka, keema naans & the mint sauce combo dips. The food did not last long as it was extremely delicious & enjoyed by all. The mushroom rice went very well with the king prawns........naan bread was soft & full of meat. I highly recommend you do either go to the restaurant to eat or enjoy it from the comfort of your own home. The restaurant is not too far from Colchester Town Centre at all. Wouldn't rush back. Food was fine, nothing more and nothing less. Tables are so close together that its virtually impossible to move around the restaurant and you end up feeling involved in the conversation of neighbouring tables due to the proximity. Staff pleasant throughout the service although a bit of a mutter at the end that they were very busy and we should book next time. Seemed ab unnecessary comment given that they has managed to accommodate us with ease and relieve us of £75.

The Nepalese dishes makes this restaurant different from the normal run of 'Indian' restaurants. The speedy and friendly service makes a joy of eating here

Very tasty Indian food, very nice service.

Dined in with a bunch of friends before a large event and we were swindled into paying for complimentary poppadoms. I know how much markup is made and it's rubbish they'd do this to new customers. Food was fine. Most people in the party enjoyed the meal but it was nothing special.

We are so lucky to have this absolute gem around the corner! We order a take away from them about once a month and are never disappointed. The food and service is always amazing and a consistently high standard. Staff are really nice and friendly and if you sit in, there is a great atmosphere. Thank you Curry India!

Came here new years eve for a family meal, was sat upstairs in a room , with the most ugly drab decor, dirty table cloths, food was disgusting and undercooked. Most poorly marinated chicken I have ever eaten raw to the bite. Will never go back to the restraunt, unfriendly service, did not feel welcome upon arrival. What a disappointment, mains were knocked off the bill, but not the point.

Booked a table on new year's eve arrived and then taken upstairs with what I could on discribe a scruffy store room with 4 tables which they didn't mention when booking and the food was terrible would definitely not recommend

Excellent service along with wonderful vegetarian options. Paneer shashlik was wonderful. Restaurant was busy as ever but that doesn’t stop them being very attentive.

Onion Bhaji came out stone cold in the middle. We sent it back and what returned was barely edible being dried out and overcooked. Mushroom Bhaji was bland. The naan was nice but my Naga was over-salted. The chicken Shaslick was just pieces of chicken with two small pieces of green pepper and some large onion slices. We’ve had better at the Raj Palace. The chicken trio starter was hard and the chicken over cooked. I’ve used this place for 30 years and I have to say when the brothers had it, every meal was first class. It has seriously gone down hill on quality and presentation.
