Shashlick was very spicy but sides and rice were nice.

Great meal, extremely polite & helpful staff with special mention to Saiful & his colleague who were excellent. The food was excellent so, many thanks & compliments to the Chef.

Always a great meal. Visited this time on a Sunday for the buffet. Plenty of choice and great service. Would highly recommend.

The food was as poor as I’ve ever had. Was meant to be a Bhoona it was just a plate of onions in a very cheap sauce shocking to be honest

Excellent food and service , I have used this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed, the food is of good quality and cooked properly, the restaurant is very clean and the service is very good, I do a round trip of 50 miles to use this restaurant because I know I will have great eating experience.

As usual I had great food, plenty of banter with them and wonderfully they played Queen and Led Zep.....

Delicious Sunday buffet at a very reasonable price. Good selection of curries with differing heat levels so perfect for families with young children.

Tried to deliver it 20 minutes early but when we didn’t answer they took it away did another delivery then came back with the same curry 20 minutes late. Was cold and not great quality

Estimate advertised before we placed order was 20-40 mins, but it took an hour so kids had to eat a bit first and we saved some of the takeaway for the next day. Good food though.

They take your order, don’t deliver and when you try and call to see where your order is they decline the call every time. Waste of time.

The wife and I had a very enjoyable vegetarian meal. Well presented and tasty. Service was enthusiastic and friendly. A nice evening with fine,hot vegetarian food, a perfect antidote as the weather turns cold.

We normally get takeaway but decided to eat in saturday night and so glad we did. Service was wonderful, very pleasant staff, food excellent. We were made very welcome and even got a free brandy at the end of the night. We will definitely eat in again.

Absolutely incredible meal. King prawn dansak was so flavoursome and the naan was cooked to perfection, crispy and soft. The staff were so attentive, lovely atmosphere and cute painting of the Taj Mahal on the wall added extra authenticity. If you haven’t ordered from here, you need to!

Incredible food, the flavours were out of this world. Naan was cooked to perfection, slightly crispy and soft 👌🏼🇮🇳 I had the king prawn dansak and it was superb. Staff could not be any more attentive, lovely atmosphere, loved the painting of the Taj mahal too. Please take a chance and order from here, you won’t regret it. ✌🏻

The food is always good. Had many takeouts, never had a bad meal. Tawa chicken saag, especially good. The right heat, spicy but not too, great amount of meat to sauce. The prawn puree starter very tasty, lots of prawns. They do the best peshawari naan, lots of cocunut.

I love this place, the house special curry is amazing. It’s always worth a trip here. We come here every time we are in colchester Highly advised

Had a lovely time here with family made very welcome by the two lads who are always very helpful and always kind a credit to jhaal great food as always guys thank you .

I made an order on their website and the site said it should be up to 1.5 hours. My order did not arrive so I rang and was told my order was out for delivery. After waiting another 30 minutes my order did still not arrive, I was told it was delivered but wasn't delivered to me. By the time my order arrived I had waited 2.5 hours. I was given 2 free things. Being given free things still doesn't make up for this.

We visit J Haal regularly. On Monday evening we had an absolutely fabulous meal cooked by the main chef Rubel and excellent service from Saiful and Juned. They are always so polite friendly and attentive. This is our go to place for consistently good curries at reasonable prices.

Food was best we've eaten in a long time but from walking in and ordering to walking out took over 1 hour! Did give us a free drink after we bought one will be back but will defo call first incase of long wait!

Best Indian takeaway in the whole of colchester. Portions were very generous and absolutely loved it. The food was very tasty and proper meat. Everything tasted so nice even the veg curry. This will now be our local takeaway for Indian food. Highly recommend!

Our annual visit (as we live abroad) to Jhaal, along with our in-laws and friends, and it was as excellent as ever. Sha looked after us and we saw a new face in Juned who was eager to please. The service was friendly yet professional. The food delicious and good value. Looking forward to our next visit.
