A great Indian restaurant with lovely friendly staff. Cobra beer on draft. Delicious food and service. Car park available.

We normally get takeaway but decided to eat in saturday night and so glad we did. Service was wonderful, very pleasant staff, food excellent. We were made very welcome and even got a free brandy at the end of the night. We will definitely eat in again.

My partner and I had dinner this evening and had a great experience. The service was fantastic and all staff were very attentive. The food was 5*. Overall a very pleasant evening and we will definitely be back!

Excellent food and super service. We were a big group of friends and they were amazing in catering for us all. They offered a range of delicious dishes and we couldn't even finish it.

Incredible food, the flavours were out of this world. Naan was cooked to perfection, slightly crispy and soft 👌🏼🇮🇳 I had the king prawn dansak and it was superb. Staff could not be any more attentive, lovely atmosphere, loved the painting of the Taj mahal too. Please take a chance and order from here, you won’t regret it. ✌🏻

Since my favourite Indian restaurant in Colchester shut down for good after 30 years, I have been trying every Indian restaurant i could find for a replacement but none have even come close until I tried jhaal. They have just bagged another lifetime customer. Fantastic food and service

I am staying at the near by hotel and thought I would venture out for a curry. This place hasn't disappointed. In fact I wish I could pick it up and take it to my home town. I also liked how clean it was. Great experience! Thanks 😊

accepted order then then all of sudden was prepared out for delivery and delivered in a moment didn't arrive won't order again poor service if you don't want order refuse went hungry because they couldn't be bothered

Con artist can't be bothered scam artist who pretend food is prepared and delivered because there closing and can't be bothered give them a wide berth poor

Very nice Indian restaurant in Marks Tey. Visited recently and had a very enjoyable night and dinner. Extremely tasty!!!

The food is always good. Had many takeouts, never had a bad meal. Tawa chicken saag, especially good. The right heat, spicy but not too, great amount of meat to sauce. The prawn puree starter very tasty, lots of prawns. They do the best peshawari naan, lots of cocunut.

I love this place, the house special curry is amazing. It’s always worth a trip here. We come here every time we are in colchester Highly advised

I made an order on their website and the site said it should be up to 1.5 hours. My order did not arrive so I rang and was told my order was out for delivery. After waiting another 30 minutes my order did still not arrive, I was told it was delivered but wasn't delivered to me. By the time my order arrived I had waited 2.5 hours. I was given 2 free things. Being given free things still doesn't make up for this.

We visit J Haal regularly. On Monday evening we had an absolutely fabulous meal cooked by the main chef Rubel and excellent service from Saiful and Juned. They are always so polite friendly and attentive. This is our go to place for consistently good curries at reasonable prices.

Food was best we've eaten in a long time but from walking in and ordering to walking out took over 1 hour! Did give us a free drink after we bought one will be back but will defo call first incase of long wait!

Best Indian takeaway in the whole of colchester. Portions were very generous and absolutely loved it. The food was very tasty and proper meat. Everything tasted so nice even the veg curry. This will now be our local takeaway for Indian food. Highly recommend!

Our annual visit (as we live abroad) to Jhaal, along with our in-laws and friends, and it was as excellent as ever. Sha looked after us and we saw a new face in Juned who was eager to please. The service was friendly yet professional. The food delicious and good value. Looking forward to our next visit.

So I order from here quite regularly never had a problem with the food itself 10 out of 10 I can’t say the same for the customer service though unfortunately. After paying £62 for my order which they told me would be an hour, The food didn’t arrive so I called up and they said the food will be 10 minutes. 30 minutes later i call the restaurant back and they say they’re sending it in 20 minutes. It goes past the 20 minutes and still no food, so I call back they say 10 minutes again! 20 minutes later still no food can you guess what’s coming next? yeah your right will send the food in 20 minutes! anyway after many times phoning and waiting.. The food finally arrives.. they forgot 3 Rice dishes! so we called them up to explain and very rudely they tell us it’s our fault and we didn’t order the rice even though it was on the receipt that we had paid for it. The guy on the phone was very rude and obnoxious and threatening I think he may have some anger issues and hung up the phone on me. I will never order from here again I hope nobody else has to experience this it’s such a shame because the food is not too bad

Loveliest Indian. Bright decor superb delicious food. Friendly staff and a lovely surprise ending. I recommend the prawn purée starter and hubby recommended the lamb chop starter. Bhunas were tasty too! Enjoy 😃

I asked for the driver to knock quietly and he banged on the door and then shouted is this my house number. I had to ask him to be quieter. The food was very bland, boring and spiceless. Very disappointed

The food has been ok but the service and communication for online orders is poor. Ordered online and order accepted after checking postcode. On calling later I was advised sorry your too far away so we won’t deliver (they use too) saying we were 22...

Food was 30 minutes late. Missing Nann bread & mango chutney. Chicken tikka tasteless. Contacted restaurant to check where food was as late & then again as items missing. Told will send replacement chicken tikka & nann bread. That was 15 minutes ago & food now all cold. Very disappointed & would like full refund.
